The 40s Batman has been a big wish of mine for awhile. The gadgets, the aesthetics, villians, cars, clothes, EVERYTHING about it is gonna be killer. I really really hope they figure out a way to continue it even after Conroys passing who we all miss desperately. I would very much like for this to continue and I think Kevin would want that too!!!! Ps I think they could use some technology that would help batman like in his cave give him like 1940s switchboard, military radar and sonar, maybe even stuff that’s too secret but wealthy enough people could get their hands on. I’m fucking stoked for this lol feel like a kid in a candy store again!!!!!
I think shows especially for characters who have already had so many iterations, experimenting and trying more things is not only welcomed but needed, it gives something new to this version, and gives reason to watch ANOTHER batman project
Same, She’s the whole reason I started watching DC shows and movies. So I’m not liking the change at all. But I'll watch the show and see if she grows on me. ( I highly doubt it though)
Out of topic a little but clayface golden age isn’t the same as Matt reeves riddler, riddler was more of a behind the scenes guy not really getting into the action just planning the kills and some riddles, but clayface golden age wouldn’t be smart like riddler he wouldn’t be planning he’d be in the action and actually fighting batman
I'm really excited for this show! I'm so glad they are bringing it to the noir era of true street crime in the 30-40s. Love the rendition from what I've read, of Clayface and the new direction they are taking things. The art is beautiful imo. Can't wait to see the renditions of characters like The Riddler and Mad Hatter and Scarecrow and Hugo Strange. Especially with the era and setting, really cool new renditions.
I feel like it would be cool to merge golden age clay face with the one we know. Maybe clayface has to cut off and wear the faces so the clay can get a proper mold to recreate and look like others and then use this ability to impersonate large political figures and cause mayhem.
I like the art style, I was very hesitant with the change to Harley’s character especially her redesign but I’m actually intrigued in this new direction, and regarding this very different version of clayface I’m very indifferent.
If anyone has the right to redesign and revamp a new version of Harley Quinn, it might as well be the man who had a hand in creating her in ALL her GOLDEN GLORY!!!
im fine with a new take on harley, although will point out, Bruce Timm may have been the lead producer on BTAS but really it was Paul Dini who created Harley Quinn (Who isnt working on this show)
The only bad part about new series is that Jim Gordon is black instead of white. Jim Gordon is supposed to be white male because Bob Kane and Bill Finger say so because they created character.
Wow this series jus from these art style alone looks really cool and amazing and Harly Quinn looks fkin terrifying asf I’m down including Clayface look menacing asf. Batman looks really cool and Catwoman looking jus as great as ever I love the 1940s noir theme they going for I hope we do get more villains in the show plus idk but I always got the feeling that DC does better standalone stories then connected stories idk I’m jus hyped for this series after I thought it was cancelled but I’m glad Amazon picked it up and X-Men 97 is fkin goated and I can’t wait for more Superhero Animated stuff.
....it's ok to show a little anger and annoyance. Look, even if they guy co-created her, doesn't mean people are going to automatically accept it. Besides the fact... Asain character... yellow redesign? Idk.. Personally, i dont like little meaningless changes. If you're going to change a few things, change everything else. The nice thing about it being set in the 40s is that he can solve the crimes in some more unique ways rather than internet, old fashion mystery elements, i guess.
I oddly feel that the show may be set in the 40’s but eventually will move timelines. Not bothered by the time frame just I feel how is he going to acquire more and more gadgets in the 40s?
Ngl when this show was announced I thought it was gonna be connected to my adventure with Superman and I still kinda want it to be but not everything have to be connected I just thought it would be a cool idea
May he rest in peace, I miss him. That being said, I'm kind of hoping for a new, unique take on the character that stands out on its own rather than a Kevin Conroy copycat, they can't all be him.
I bet the agreement that james Gunn and Matt Reeves made was that Matt Reeves can use any characters he wanted as long as they are “grounded” realistic takes. That’s my thinking. Maybe DC figured out that by having two tonely distinct live action universes it would give people what they were in the mood for.. Just a thought!
I think this bruce wayne will be slightly different than the movie Batman because he has a billionaire playboy persona but he's definitely gonna be a shell of a person outside of his Batman persona like rob Pattison Batman
Since Timm literally created the character of Harley Quinn I'll withhold judgement on the changes. But I'm feeling reluctant and hesitant to accept it.
One thing I'm curious about: In B:TAS, Dr. Quinzel became Harley Quinn because of the Joker. But in this series, the new take on the character doesn't seem to be involved with Joker at all. So, where does he actually fit in here, if he'll be in the series at all? If he's not, I'm hoping we at least get to see the Red Hood.
I myself once gone through an idea of a 'Harley that becomes a villain without the Joker' when I was figuring my own takes on characters, and the one I gone for was a depressed psychologist that barely makes even yet has a loving family to talk to until a patient she was treating broke out and co-incidently killed them, causing Harley to snap, dress up like a Harlequinn (before this, she used to go to circuses for day outs in her youth and entertain younger members of her family with tricks), killed her patient and her boss, raised a mob and wrecked havoc until Batman stopped her. This was when I was like 'there's been so many takes on the Joker, how do I go about this in a unique way'?
I am very interested in watching this show, Batman Caped Crusader, and very curious about it. Interesting they have set in the 1940s. well to to honest, I like the Batman comics, where Batman is set in another time period, and he has way less gadgets and tools to use. The animation style looks really good from what just I see by looking at the few images they have shown us. like Catwoman's costume looks exactly like the one she started out with. I am curious if Clayface will be the main villain or will each episode have a different villain. Harley Quinn's change, redesign of her look and her character, have to wait the watch the show to see if I like it. some people may not like her changes being done to her, maybe it might work out for this new animated show, I'll wait till I watch the show before making any judgements. Looks like the show is going towards a darker tone. I just hope this new Batman animated series is really good, and hope the story along with it is interesting. I am definitely looking forward to watching it
DC comics fans and event comics fan know about "Elseworlds" - The Batman (Robert Pattinson) - Joker (Lady Gaga) - Haley Quinn (HBO MAX) - Batman Caped Crusader -Tomorrowverse - Most video games within DC Studios' Elseworlds imprint nothing to do with main comics DC
The show looks great. But using the classic clay face for the movies kills every bit of hype i had for what Matt reeves could've done with the batman films. I was already not fully on-board with what his realistic tone, but fully committing to it and basically doing the same villain as the first movie is disappointing.
New Harley not looking good. I'm not feeling the look. Everything else looks great though. But a more sadistic Harley could be cool. I just don't like her costume.
I will very much dislike it they go with a golden age clayface in the movie. They’ve gone dark for every post 1980 Batman movie. Not a single supernatural villain besides the shitshow that was batman and Robin. Going dark with the batman was a great choice. But constantly giving slasher villains to batman with no powers just pisses me off. It takes away from Batmans excitement of being a man with no powers taking on anything. A creepy horrific clayface in a dark world would’ve been 10/10
No it’s set whenever you watch it. The creators always have said “BTAS is happening now and Batman Beyond is 40 years from when now is”. It basically means its a timeless show with no real time period its set in. Arkham games did the same thing.
The series seems like it's heavily based around the Golden Age of comics, which would also explain Catwoman wearing her purple dress she wore way back when, and Clayface being returned to his roots as a powerless murderer instead of the shape-changing mass of mud we know him as now.
They definitely made the new Harley the opposite. She went from hot to ugly. And Paul Dini was the main creator of the character. Bruce Timm basically just created the design.
I'm mixed: I love the 1940s setting, and I love the costumes designs it's just hate I hate how Jim Gordon was blackwashed (Hollywood needs to STOP discriminating against redheads/gingers) and instead of making Harley Quinn Asian we should've got an ACTUAL Asian villain like Punchline (apparently she's Asian) or Lady Shiva.

It is supposed to be an adult version of Batman: The Animated Series. So yeah, it will definitely be interesting.
Absolutely adore the way this looks. Them doing a 40s period piece and in a style reminiscent of Golden age comics is just so great to see
