This is a valid complaint because colorism is real, especially when it comes to casting black super heroes and this character specifically was designed to be a very dark skinned militant black man in the 70s. What invalidates this complaint is that this version of DC is taking a lot of its inspirations from the DCAU and Aaron Pierre looks exactly like that version of John Stewart, down to the skin tone.

I get what the controversy is. The creator of John Stewart meant for the character to be dark skinned that’s why he has always been dark skinned in the comics , video games, and movies. So there is colorism at play here. But im happy Aaron got the role. His acting will pull it off and he will mesh well with the other cast. There IS a reason why James Gumm casted HIM. I grew up with John as my GL. He became the defacto GL, even above Hal, when they used him as Earth's GL in JLU-A. I questioned should Aaron play him because of the skin tone difference. Colorism does exists, however, I don't think this is one of those cases. I think he just earned the spot by being the best actor out of the running. Out of last three choices, two were dark in skin tone. But Aaron's the biggest, physically. He just did Rebel Ridge, basically black Batman, and he has black presenting features. Also, Aaron mixed with African and more African. Bro is "more" black than all of us in America complaining he isn't black enough.
I think Kyle chandler's an amazing choice for Hal Jordan. After seeing him in movies like Game Night, I definitely think he's got the right amount of charm, dramatic and comedic talent to be a great Hal Jordan green lantern.

My only problem with the GL tv show casting is that Hal is 59…. Hal “Green Lantern” Jordan is 59 and most likely won’t live past this show and it sucks. I am going to say why the show isn't really exciting at all. Its premise is simply HBO not wanting a fun comic book space opera they probably had a pitch for a True Detective like show & just decided to attach Green lantern to it. Also when your previous version was going to be this 10 hour epic following multiple Green lanterns from different time periods that span from late 30s to 2010s that takes place from earth to the very edge of space, when that is canned in favor of this you have to be asking yourself why?

My only problem with the GL tv show casting is that Hal is 59…. Hal “Green Lantern” Jordan is 59 and most likely won’t live past this show and it sucks. I’ve been a big fan of green lantern because of the Live Action movie and I wanted to see Hal be more in other DC stuff. But it seems like DC just hate Hal Jordan.

Guy's suit in Superman is not a Green Lantern Corps suit, it's a LordTech suit with a GL symbol on the sleeve. The suits in this series will most likely be the official Corps suits.

I am going to say why the show isn't really exciting at all. Its premise is simply HBO not wanting a fun comic book space opera they probably had a pitch for a True Detective like show & just decided to attach Green lantern to it.
Also when your previous version was going to be this 10 hour epic following multiple Green lanterns from different time periods that span from late 30s to 2010s that takes place from earth to the very edge of space, when that is canned in favor of this you have to be asking yourself why?
