Hi. I’d just got mine 7i96s card. I’m new to Linux and was wondering. What’s the different between the 7i96 and the 7i96s. I’d only order the 7i96s because that’s what in stock at the moment.
7i96 uses a Spartan6 fpga, the 7i96s uses a Trion. The 7i96s also has an analog spindle control (pot replacement), where the 7i96 only has a 5v power section where the spindle control is on the 96s
It's an isolated analog control (0-10v pot) and outputs 4 and 5 are high voltage/low current outputs for spindle control (start/stop and forward/reverse)
I'm watching several videos about Linux CNC + Mesa card Controller, I confess that I still haven't found any good step how to configure the CNC with 4 stepper motors nema 34 step by step, there would be a video like this on your channel
Thank you for the hard work you put into your videos.
Your students are lucky because you're a great teacher. :-)

The 0-10v spindle output. Is that completely isolated ? As in can you connect it to a non isolated motor controller?
