Phenomenal pitcher and competitor but Mets signed him when he was too old and gave him too much money. It's not his fault someone was willing to pay him 43 million+ per year. He did his best to live up to the salary but simply wasn't capable of it at his age. Like casting a 60 year old Raquel Welch in a beach movie, paying her zillions to do it and then criticizing how she looks in a bathing suit.
He completely Tom glavined the Mets, stop with the age nonsense, he was good all season, and I’m sure contributed to the rangers winning a title, he choked plain and simple and cost the Mets a post season spot they deserved.

He went 11-5 with a 2.29 ERA in 2022 and was 9-4 for us in 2023 when he was traded and then went 4-2 for the Rangers. He didn't "choke".....he's just too old to be the "ace" and doesn't always have it. You get older and your body betrays you. He was getting by with the "sticky stuff" and when they called him on that it hurt his spin rates and he just doesn't always have the velocity and spin he needs to be dominant. But the guy is definitely a champion and he's got the heart of a lion.
