I love the tray. I makes me think of an elegantly decorated cake. I used to worry that the house wasn't company ready until one day when an older friend stopped by unexpectedly. I started to apologise when she said "i didn't come to see your house i came to see you. Do you have any coffee?" It still makes me smile.
Sarah I love your calm demeanor and your home reflects that. Very welcoming and lot of collected treasures over time. You are such a beautiful lady inside and out. Many blessings …
Love how transparent you are, so refreshing. I too have struggled with wanting everything to be perfect. Your house is always so inspiring!! Laughed out loud about the spider legs...:)
I can relate to what you are saying. I used to focus mainly on how God could use me to help others. But now understanding how much God loves me and how imperfect I am, I include that maybe the person at my door is sent to me by God to lift me and help me with my trials of the day. It’s good to put out goodness to others, but it’s also good to receive goodness from others. Sometimes receiving is the harder of the two. It requires humility.
Sarah it was touching to hear you share about how you felt about your home if someone showed up at your home or insecurities about how your home looked. If you only knew truly knew how much you inspire so many and how warm and inviting and just so beautiful your home looks . Iam glad God convicted you about that. And last video didn’t you mention trying not to feel a little jealous of how friends decorate? One of the Ten Commandments is not covet our neighbors goods . So not to want what others have. They can inspire you but you also inspire. I always just made my home feel Like me especially with a husband and two boys. Luckily they loved everything I did and you know you just evolve. I think as you get older it hits you that I can love a lot of things but I don’t need to have it all or change everything for that. I found I always come back to what I’ve always loved and will add a new small item that I love once e in a while but it fits in my style which is much like yours. The best compliment I ever received that really touched my heart was last year a dear friend said to me I love coming here to your house I feel so welcomed and safe here. I asked what she meant by safe she said I feel so Much love here in the way it’s decorated and the way I feel when Iam here. Wow what more could you ask for . That meant so much to me . I want people to feel that when they’re here but to actually have someone say that touched my heart so much. But beyond the decor making people who visit feel special and loved and know you’re there with a hug and ear just to listen and something good to eat or drink . It’s all part of making a house a home. You’ve got this. Have a beautiful blessed day 🙏🕊💕🌹
Sarah, thank you for sharing. I have always enjoyed cooking and company when I was younger. I am only recently reticent about company because my adult son now living with me is up all night undoing what I’ve done during the day! It’s a prayerful struggle trying to navigate our relationship. My old home has no overhead lighting, so I have a lot of fun with lamps and candles. It is especially peaceful during the winter months. I hope we all have fun preparing for the holidays!
Pray that God will use you as he wants to use you, really touched me. Thank you for that. I tend to want everything be perfect before I open my door. I need to get over that and welcome my friends on, regardless of how my home looks in that moment.🥴
Hi Sarah....The Fern your talking about is called a "Rabit Foot Fern!" You do not need bury the roots. The roots resemble a Rabits Foot! I love this fern! ❤ you allow each and every root to grow over the clay pot~ it so unique and so beautiful ~
Is it French knots? I remember as a teen I did a white French knots on white cotton for a pillow one time. It was very elegant and I felt so sophisticated with it on my bed.
@@catherinecorn2371 Yes it is exactly like French knots. It's done with a cotton thread and will put you in mind of the old chenille bed spreads that looked like a series of raised dots. The white on white has a very elegant look to it and is very easy to do compared to other forms of embroidery. I haven't done it in decades but still have the pillow covers I made back in the 70's, Counted thread cross stitch was also popular during that resurgence. Hmm...they should probably come out for the holidays. :-)
@@sunflowerbrown5823 it's so lovely! I've been teaching my children to do embroidery and piecing together quilts and such. It's all such lost art and I feel like if they can learn the basics, they at least have that!
We call those rabbits foot fern! I have one that my Papa grew before he passed away. My aunt gave it to me. It stays on my side porch all year until the coldest part of our winter. (I take it inside) Wonderful fern. 😍
The welcome sampler is candlewicking. It was popular in the 70’s. I made several things using the craft and just stopped. I love yours!! It fits your house to me.
This video felt like a hug! Personally, I love the tray - I think it looks beautiful and hand made. It reminds me of the old, embroidered samplers. Also, your thoughts on how God uses us - even our messy days blessed me.💕
Never in my life have I had to try to to not use the overhead lights. I would NEVER lol it's so harsh and bright. When I see people sitting around, watching evening tv under a spotlight I always raise an eyebrow.
hey girl- loved the video!😁I had to laugh when you said the plant looked like a tarantula 😄I agree🤭 good luck with the plant. Great tips and ideas😉 Thank you Sarah for sharing❤
I have that plant with the spider legs lol, the root parts are brown though, and I was told it is a deer footed fern. I actually like the spider legs:)
We call it a rabbit’s foot fern. I think they like to have their feet outside the pot. Mine is on the porch and beautiful in the warmer months. It gets a little scraggly when it’s cold but still pretty.
I love the tray. That stitch is called "candle wicking". You could use the tray to gather the guest supplies on the dresser (water bottles, rolled towels, snacks).
The tray is perfect for a guest room. If you don't like the look of it hanging on the wall, use it to serve a snack to your guests if they arrive between meals. Or just place it on the dresser or footstool with a gathering of some of the elements of this video. A small plant, or a tiny vase of fresh flowers, a beautiful book for your guest to read, a candle (battery or real, with a delicious scent) Oooh ! Place it on top of a folded throw blanket on the foot stool...thanks for the inspiration....going to do this in my guest room ...now ❤
The tray with Welcome in it is sweet, and simple. In my home I would take out the Gather swag and put the Welcome in it's place (on the shelf). But only you can decide whether it will fit in your home. Also, it's not embroidery, it's candlewicking.
Your fern is a “rabbit foot” fern! I have a big one that I call “grandpa” 😂. Me and my family lived in our house, for years, that was gutted to the studs. It took years to get it rebuilt because we could afford to pay a contractor to finish it. It was so stressful and embarrassing. Your house is beautiful and I envy your ability to decorate!
Our home is a Victorian, and while it’s got warm beautiful woods, it really lacks the warm glow that comes from multiple floor and table lamps. I’ll be focusing on investing in many more of those this coming year. Aiming for 2 per room.
I love this video post Sarah. You are such a sweet kind loving soul. God's light shines through all you do and say. You're my dream friend that I wish I had. I pray for a friend like you everyday! Thank you for bringing joy into so many lives.
I love to see you in the kitchen and adore your home and how quite cozy it all feels. Your videos are my getaway, and I thank the Lord for finding you in a timely way...which was right before COVID. Bless you, your household, and All the followers... Happy Thanksgiving
Sarah I was the same as you about my home. I was a single mom and purchased a home and it was beautifully furnished with the essentials, but I did not have all the additional decor and I would pick up my daughter from a playdate and see decor in other homes thinking they must have so much money. Then I finally had a birthday party for my daughter and all the moms were oh my goodness Susan your home is so neat and beautiful yet, I didn’t see it. I too would not open the door. That’s when I started to learn about antique and thrifting. I slowly did my home. I need that wall paper in your bathroom can you share. Your house looks perfect 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Hello Sarah! You started this video being so vulnerable, in your powder room, putting your makeup on, and I was thinking how beautiful you are, and don’t need makeup. Then you shared how vulnerable you felt thrifting w/o your husband, over Covid, and how difficult that was, and I thought, wow, your curated home is lovely. You continued by telling us how you never wanted to open the door, when the doorbell rang, and why, and I thought, I am not alone! In your last video, you shared how to have meaningful relationships with women, how hard that can be and is. And I thought it would be so great if my “work” peers were as involved in my life as your you tube peers/ women are with one another. You also shared that you’ve felt older and weren’t sure if you fit in, how the business minded younger channels made quicker strides, subscribers etc. You also shared from the Bespoke conference how you thought the women were so brave, that some made the trip alone, and how you needed Colby to help you navigate it all, and worked so hard together. Thank you for ALL of this content! I actually have teared up many times, listening to you and feeling that this content has actually helped me, in my walk, in my life, more than looking at thrifted items. Sarah, what you are sharing is the best of the best work you’ve done this far. I predict, you are opening the door now, and the true work of how the Lord wishes to use you is coming to life. Thank you, for opening the door, when you feel vulnerable, no makeup, house not perfect, but more than that, for helping women to really feel connected, and that we don’t have to feel alone. Get ready for God to take your channel on an amazing journey of truths. ❤😂😊
Your house is so cozy!! And may I say, we had a Ridgeback when we first got married, I loved that dog’s personality so much! They are so amazing! Beautiful home! I love the Welcome tray!
I really love the tray! Your home is lovely, inviting, cozy, and seems to show family history. I think we truly bless our family when we take special care of our home. 💞
Love the tray! We live in an eighteen hundred cottage that has had several updates. Working on the Kitchen this year. I caught the antique bug from my Grandma when I was eleven. She owned an Antique store and I loved every minute learning from her. I now appreciate their beauty and use what I have in everyday living. You have a very lovely home and very welcoming! I had a giggle when you described your topiary because I have the artificial ones as well. I thought it looked great where you displayed it. ❤
Sarah, I Love the tray! My style/taste is so similar to yours and I have several real snake plants in rooms with low light and they do great. People associate snake plants with mid-century but I put them in an aged pot and it looks fabulous! I get a ton of compliments! I gravitate towards lacy and ferns, never attracted to snake plants, but the juxtaposition is awesome!
What whites (paint) do you use throughout your house. It plays really well with natural light and also with warm low evening light and candle/fire light. Exactly what I’m looking for for our now house.
Your fern is also known as a rabbits foot fern and as you see, the new shoots come off of the “furry legs”. Maybe that will make you feel a bit better about it; I have one too. I it put outside in the summer and bring it in over winter. ❤️ 🐇😊🙏
I hate it when my husband is away for work overnight. It may sound icky, but I use one of his dirty undershirts as a pillow case when he’s gone and it makes me feel less anxious and sleep better. ❤ He’s not a stinky guy, though. ETA: I heard about a study with the pillowcase thing. I wouldn’t have thought of that on my own 😂
O.K. @ 3:59. Could see it better.....I'd remove the glass, put some dried white flowers around some of the edges of the paper to soften some of the edges...after it dries, replace the glass, etc., and see what you think. Some places have better thrift products than others, especially different towns....so you might need to look more, wait longer and buy what you really like .....this is from an older woman of 81 who you may or may not want to hear that from...love you girl....enjoy your hubby
I grew up with the notion that "unexpected company", was a No No! We used to have to take country drives on a Sunday, just so that if someone showed up at the house, we wouldn't have to let them in. And a No No to pop in, unannounced, at someone else's... Was hard to break that habit, as an adult... I LOVE unexpected company to show up at my house...but I still do not like popping in to someone else's, lest they be embarrassed about not being Company Ready.
Your sense of surrendering to the Lord and let Him work thru you is really a reinforcement of faith.
Oh, thank you so much!
I love the tray. I makes me think of an elegantly decorated cake. I used to worry that the house wasn't company ready until one day when an older friend stopped by unexpectedly. I started to apologise when she said "i didn't come to see your house i came to see you. Do you have any coffee?"

I agree with rabbits foot fern. Think of fuzzy rabbits feet instead of spiders. Leather leaf fern is used as filler in most floral arrangements.
The fuzzy rabbits feet are the rhizomes by which the plant spreads. New fronds will grow from them. It means the plant is healthy.
When a video is an answer to a prayer. Thank you so very much ~
I'm so glad to hear it!
After the crazy few weeks in America… I sure needed this sweet, kind, lovely video! Thank you!🙏🙏🙏
The welcome sampler is candlewicking. It was popular in the 70’s. I made several things using the craft and just stopped. I love yours!! It fits your house to me.
That bathroom wallpaper!
The Bespoke pictures in black and white are fabulous. The fern is georgous but a bit of a tricky plant to maintain. They love humidity.
The tray is perfect for gathering together things in the guest bedroom placed at the foot of the bed. Fantastic video for hospitality.

Lovely visuals and thank you for reminding us, that imperfect is ok.
Beautiful ideas on creating a cozy home. Thank you for sharing and for your graciousness.
This is beside the point of your video, but you are so pretty! Love these type of videos around this time of year. 😊

People associate snake plants with mid-century but I put them in an aged pot and it looks fabulous! I get a ton of compliments! I gravitate towards lacy and ferns, never attracted to snake plants, but the juxtaposition is awesome!
Beautiful video! I enjoyed your suggestions about creating a home to feel like a hug when you and your family come home or have guests over. ❤
I have those ferns all over my house! You will love them. I promise.
Love the Welcome tray!
That may be a rabbit’s foot fern. It’s beautiful !
I love it….that is beautiful handwork…..
You have a lovely home, I wish mine looked that nice.
I love the welcome tray!

Thank you, Cindy! ❤
What whites (paint) do you use throughout your house. It plays really well with natural light and also with warm low evening light and candle/fire light. Exactly what I’m looking for for our now house.
That is a rabbit foot fern. The "feet" are meant to overflow the pot.

Sarah. I love your house and how you’ve made it a home. But I just noticed you don’t have a kitchen table or do you have a separate dining area?
I love the tray!
Could you put legs on the tray to make a bed tray?
Hi Sarah, What is the leave in hair product you are using? My post chemo hair needs some deep conditioning in the form of a leave in. Thank you
I have a plant with the furry feet and was told it’s a rabbit foot fern
I think that’s a rabbit foot fern. I’d investigate further!
So beautiful person and home-may I ask what lip color you have on here in this video?
The only thing I don’t like about the tray is the color of the wood. I’d 4:28 chalk paint it with a pale green or blue.
Hello great video please let us know what kind of make up you use. You look stunning.🌺🌺🌺
