It's always good to know how outsiders wonder how our metro systems are different actually. As a Hungarian person living outside of Budapest, I can admit, that I've been in Budapest a few times ago, but due to the alcoholism, some people lost their family or even their job, or just become unemployment. There are a lot of vegebonds out there (even selling everything). But as long as you don't meet them, there is a good chance for surviving the center area of the city. At least these are only my opinnion that I can recommend to you. But nevetheless, I love trains, trams and subway trains.
