- In another video ( • GETTING AROUND BY PUBL... ) I talked about the extremely efficient public transportation system of Budapest. In this video I explain how to purchase tickets and passes using the newly installed ticket vending machines.
I also show you an unfortunate scam, whereby the dispenser is blocked with sticky tape, therefore you do not get your change and ticket/pass. You might consider checking the machine prior to using it. Sorry for this! :)

I am a proud local Hungarian living in Budapest.
I was born and have lived in this beautiful city, Budapest for decades. I am in love with it - and not because I haven’t seen anything else. I am a seasoned traveller and I have also spent many years living abroad. However, my heart (and wife, and jobs and goulash soup and lángos) have pulled me back to my birth town. I love this city and know it inside out.
If you are fed up with the formal (and often wrong) recommendations of guide books, then follow my channel to find advice from a real local. I give you practical tips, show you cool spots and help you avoid tourist traps.
I live and love Budapest, I want to share my tips with you.
Great video,
Your channel is a blessing! Keep going please! Maybe consider standing in front of the camera and talking and showing us everything first hand. Also please do food guides! Restaurants, cheap beer, hidden gems, museum guides, not-so-popular attractions, that sort of stuff that the locals do in Budapest. It would be a massive help. Thank you!!
Excellent video. My confidence in going to Budapest in April is getting more and more. Good you showed a scam in the machine. I will remember that. We are really afraid of SCAMS. I can see a lot of improvements and changes in Budapest. I was there in 1982 for 72 hours only, the border patrol gave me. I only went to Gellert Hill, Buda Castle and old town where I stayed. This time I can go inside the Parliament Building, the most beautiful parliament building for me.
Thank you so much for this fantastic, informative video. I am really looking forward to visiting Budapest next year!!
