My favourite ever saxophonist. I saw two of the gigs in this residency, though not the one that was recorded. They were the sort of gig where the band starts playing, and suddenly it's two hours later, and you've no idea where the time went.
Too good to be true. One of my greatest regrets is not attending this gig, which I could have, as I was livi ng in London at the time. Also missed Bill Evans!! On the other hand, I saw Dizzy @ Ronnie's in around 1984. I think he was the greatest instrumentalist I ever saw, with the possible exception of David Oistrakh.
