Ninebot is just a thicker, beefier, more well rounded scooter. The s2 pro is comparable on paper but you really do feel the few hundred dollar difference when riding.
@@GingerOnWheels I just wish it had solid tires. After a year with my s2 pro I simply can't go back to pnuematic/inner tubes. I fully agree that the build quality/feature difference between segway and hiboy makes segway worth it, but solid tires have simply changed the game for me. This was exactly what I was looking for, because hiboy has no such instructions for this on their support page. I've maybe done around 200 km with my hiboy and stem became loose. Let's say Montreal pavement is quite sub par :/ Easy instructions, worked as expected, thanks.
This was NOT what caused my handlebar stem to wobble. I did this, unnecessarily, and the large bolts on the side were so tight, I bent and ruined my tool trying to loosen them. I finally got one side loose, and tightened the center screw which was already tight, and it didn't fix the wobble at all. Come to find out, it was MUCH simpler fix. Just tighten those 4 small screws near the long part of the stem at the bottom where it folds. Same screws that are used at the top to put the handlebar into the stem. Those were loose. Boom, that fixed the wobble. Check that first before going though this process and unnecessarily tearing up your tool or cracking loose an otherwise fixed bolt.
Thanks for the tip, it works great! What about the bolt on the front of the stem (below the clasp covered by a rubber plug)? It's loose and won't thread into anything and spins (both clock/counter) infinitely. Great channel!

the lock/release lever broke on mine… screw fell out and so did the spring … does anyone know where i can get spare parts ? i can’t get in touch with HiBoy
Oh that's not good. First thing I would check for is rocks maybe stuck under the fender. It could also be the disc brake in the back. I have a short video on how to adjust disc brakes if you want to go find that. Worst case scenario though is the bearings might be getting corroded in which case you would need to replace those.
You need to push the folding mechanism in first, then you can pull down the latch on the grey thing. And then pull the folding mechanism out. Then fold the bike..
Just gone and tried it, the thread on the lest hand bolt is Threaded.. tighted it all up the best I can but the stem still wobbles.. No idea how I'm gonna get the Threaded bolt out
Might wanna consider using some Loctite screw lock glue (for this I would recommend the strong one) and tighten the screw. Should not be a problem anymore.
Definitely. If you've got loctite, use it! I think blue would work just fine. If the bearing ever needs replacement in there it would be really hard to convince red loctite to come out.
On my Hiboy S2 Pro, after some miles, it stops driving because of an E2 error. It only happens when I press on the throttle. Do you think it's a problem with the pin?
I did this and now I have an issue. The wheel doesn’t want to stay aligned. I drifts as I ride and came loose once causing a bit of a bailout. Any suggestions?
Hey Ginger on Wheels. I am having the issue of the front wheel wearing itself out of true in a couple years time. I hit 13 miles per hour and the entire stem gets a violent wobble throughout the stem. I can feel the wheel being worn out of true when I am walking the scooter and when I flip it upside down and engage the throttle I can feel the uneven wear on the front wheel that is causing it. Maybe some of you others have this issue as well. Is there anything that can be done to fix it? I noticed Hiboy sells a replacement front wheel. But if I go that route it will happen again in a couple of years. Doesn't seem very smart to keep making that mistake. If anyone figured out a fix around the issue I would appreciate it. Thanks! Doug
I'm not sure to tell you. The only way it would go out of true is if you were turning the wheel while going straight which is literally impossible so it has something to do with the way you're leaning the scooter while you ride it. I'm unsure if it's a solid tire or a pneumatic tire but if it's pneumatic then you can just take all the air out of it and squish the tire around pop it off the bead and reseat it and then pump it back up and usually theyll inflate better than they were before. If it's a solid tire then putting a new tire on it might be more work than it's worth. I would just buy a new wheel or motor whatever you got to do.
Actually if I could send a picture…u would see EXACTLY what I am talking about…definitely not a trick question… the 2 holes on the steering wheel stem are smaller than the 2 holes on the stem attached to the wheels…weird…the 2 holes seem worn out on the stem attached to the front wheel this holds the handlebar in place…trying to figure out do I MAYBE put JB Weld on the lower part of the handlebar stem and slide it into the stem attached to the wheels the tighten with 2 number 8 bolts so that the steering wheel would hopefully no longer wobble…did you get that?
I thought you were going to show us how to fix the latch that hold the two together when handle bars are up lol this was common sense same as bicycle. But the latch is notorious for coming undone while riding. And I thought maybe is adjustable since it has a screw going thru the spring
I had a serious issue today where the hinge automatically came loose while going 18mph on the road. Thank god I got out safe. This is seriously dangerous. I only had mine for 2 weeks
Got hit by a car the second day I had it! Now the stems loose .. the scooter seems ok and I’m ight too just bruised and bleeding .. need to fix the stem and get a new handle bar
can you please do a video of the removal of the front wheel of the hiboy s2 pro,my front motor went ,and they supose to send a replacement, smh the scooter not even 40 days old, awfull customer service and support is awfull also
Good video! I just found a highboy S2 in the dumpster yesterday. It looks like it’s salvageable. It needs: 1…the charging unit 2…rear brake repair(busted from apparent spill damage) 3…Handlebar fold down security clip on rear fender missing (has coat hanger Jerry rig) …and now I notice… 4… The front end is loose as described in your video (that I did not notice until I saw this video first).
What just pissed me off is the fact that I somehow messed up the motor in the wheel so I reached out to highboy and they took forever to decide whether or not they were going to send me a motor they finally sent me the motor but by the time they had a sent me the motor I had already taken apart what I thought needed to be taken apart come to find out after they finally sent me a video after I requested some type of content they sent me a video and everything that I took apart I didn't need to take apart, so now I have a big issue here where I'm trying to put everything back in and the screws that you're telling me to loosen I've already taken all the way out at one point now I'm trying to loosen them and as I open up my highboy stem I see that that screw that apparently I need to get to to tighten my stem is covered by some black flat circular item and that's apparently where I need to be but I don't know how to get into that and now when I close up my stem and my wheel because I unscrewed everything the wheel and the stem go completely different ways if I pulled the steering wheel one way I can take the steering bars and turn them the opposite direction ,🤦🏽🤦🏽
The other annoying thing is that now I'll have to wait for I don't know how long for them to send me a video on how to attach the stem better because my stem is really messed up it doesn't connect at all with the wheel anymore I mean the scooter is still attached but the wheel and the stem can move into different directions if I move my arm a certain way
Hey @ginger - I bought this scooter 10 days ago, I've put maybe 20 miles on it and noticed a wobble. I tried the tightening in the manual and it didn't work, so I used your method - apparently I had SHEARED THE SCREW OFF within my first 20 miles of riding. Really disappointed! I ended up drilling it out, the bolt just disintigrated during drilling (bad sign). I ended up purchasing a grade 10 from fastenal, and replaced it. I have reached out to Hiboy to see how they can make this right, as now I've got a rattling but I don't want to send the scooter back because it's so freaking fun to ride. Btw - I am probably one of the most cautious, 'babying' scooter riders. I just ride bike paths - we are in the same area, so think marymoor to woodinville bike trail / continental trails, only pavement is what I ride on, I use it just for joy riding. I'm 30 lbs under the weight limit (i'm 190, weight limit is 220). So yeah, that was spooky. I can't believe that one screw does so much for the integrity of the scooter and it's only an M6 bolt. I feel like it should be atleast an m8, but really an m10.
The piece you have to lift or slide up to unlatch then stem seems to have play and there is no way to adjust. You’re telling me your locking mechanism has NO play at all? I’m not calling you a liar but I find that hard to believe due to the design of this particular device. Thanks again.
Step MOST IMPORTANT If you need to tighten something, it means it'll come lose within a few days likely. use loctite before puting it back in, never hear about it again.
I just wish mine worked, i just bought one, right out of the box it has an "E3" error code. The book that comes in the box only mentions an E4/E10 code, and the "fix" for those is to contact their tech support. Their "tech support" is an email address, which ive been waiting over 24 hours for a response now. According to other scooter brands, an E3 code usually means a motor connection problem. I will be on every single one of their social media's every day trying to stop people from buying by posting the ugly truth. If you post a 1 star review on their website, it doesnt post, so i made a 5 star review and then commented on how horrible customer service is and how terrible their quality assurance is. Of course that review went right up because it was a 5 star. Shady company man... i now have a nice 500 dollar room ornament i guess
Issue with chargeback with your credit card company. Or you can just DM them on Instagram. It usually takes them a couple days to get back to me too which honestly it isn't out of the ordinary for a scooter companies. All of them are extremely busy with sales and service because so many people are buying scooters during quarantine. Did you recheck the connection in the handlebars? if you don't feel like waiting for a response from them, in which case you'll likely have to ship the scooter back, then you can just pop open the deck and check all the connections yourself. If those are all good then they probably just didn't quality check the controller. the $3,000 veteran Sherman that I just bought from ewheels came with a faulty control board and their response was to ship me a new control board and told me to take my brand new unicycle apart and replace it myself. This is all bleeding edge tech and we can't expect everything to work all the time unfortunately.
@@GingerOnWheels i did check all the connections in the bottom, the handlebar connections (pins and plug) are good, i was testing it with everything apart. At full charge the 36 volt battery was sitting at 41 volts, i know lithium batteries charge at a higher "top off" voltage than their advertised voltage but im not sure if thats right where it should be. Ive also tried to pair it with the app to see if i could see stats on the scooter to maybe get a hint at what to look at but the app says its connected but doesnt show anything im guessing because of the error code. I am going to open the drive hub tonight and check all the connections, maybe they had a crappy solder job on one of the hall sensors or something.

Ginger, thanks for making the videos I really enjoy them. I’m thinking about buying my first scooter and I’m wondering which one you would recommend for under $800. I’m considering the Segway Max because of the great reviews. Is there one you think is better for the price?
For the price, the Max Is a pretty good option. There are probably black Friday deals coming up too, if you're in the US.
Thank for the reply. How does the Max compare to the Hiboy S2 Pro? Which would you choose?
@@RichardAxelson Hiboy s2 u wont get flats
My fender is rattling, any fix?
Fixed my issue thanks for the video
Happy to help
Will that center screw come loose again?
Its possible. Mine didn't though.
Because of you I ordered a S2 Pro yesterday 😁. Im hoping there will be mod/hacking community like the M365 and Ninebot...seems like the hiboy has potential to become something better.
@@RayRiv73 still holding up? Any advice as a newer Hiboy S2 pro owner? I'm already feeling a little wobble in my stem but I'm not really sure how much play it had originally it's not worrisome yet but in due time I'm sure I'll need to do this
@@BillyBiggz mine also has a very small wobble and it squeeks. Ill tighten the screws one of these days.
Can’t find a customer service number for hiboy do you know one off hand???
Hit them up on their official IG. Way faster
Hi Ginger. Xan you help me with the model of the brakes from wolf warrior? I just crashed and im trying to buy in uk and i can't found the model
If you can find a retailer that sells the wolf Warrior near you, you can just send them an email and ask to buy some. They are 145 mm Zoom brakes I believe.
I bought all ready from amazon same model just the caliber its slightly different. And now i just found a shop in uk and in 2 weeks will have stock they hope so. Thank you very much for your suggestions! Great content! Take and wish you best in everything!
Hi, do you know if the monorim front suspensions for the m365 can work on this scooter?
I do not know
Yes they do but almost another 80$-100$ might as well just upgrade at that point to a Nex 5
the lock/release lever broke on mine… screw fell out and so did the spring … does anyone know where i can get spare parts ? i can’t get in touch with HiBoy
Hey my motor (on the s2 pro) is making almost metal on metal sounds any idea what it might be? Thanks
Oh that's not good. First thing I would check for is rocks maybe stuck under the fender. It could also be the disc brake in the back. I have a short video on how to adjust disc brakes if you want to go find that. Worst case scenario though is the bearings might be getting corroded in which case you would need to replace those.
Hey man mines on red light , break mode how do I fix it ? please help thanks
This doesn't make actual sense. I don't know what you're trying to say.
I need help! The folding mechanism is very difficult to unlatch, if I pull too hard I’m afaraid the stem will break, any solutions
No idea how I'm gonna get the Threaded bolt out
Thanks for the info!
I have this issue also just got a e3 code that I do t know how to fix
Might wanna consider using some Loctite screw lock glue (for this I would recommend the strong one) and tighten the screw. Should not be a problem anymore.
Definitely. If you've got loctite, use it! I think blue would work just fine. If the bearing ever needs replacement in there it would be really hard to convince red loctite to come out.
After doing this my handlebars became very hard to turn. Do you have any idea why this might be?
Same for me.. would like to know the fix
Same problem here
you loosen the 2 screws that you unnecessarily tightened. if you follow this video you've officially ruined your hiboy scooter. congrats
On my Hiboy S2 Pro, after some miles, it stops driving because of an E2 error. It only happens when I press on the throttle. Do you think it's a problem with the pin?
I think it'd a problem with your throttle assembly. I'd send a message to support.
I did this and now I have an issue. The wheel doesn’t want to stay aligned. I drifts as I ride and came loose once causing a bit of a bailout. Any suggestions?
Currently having this issue on my Hiboy NEX3, did you find a fix?
The silver part has a little black piece that latches on the back holding the steering damper up. I dont think this will fix my problem
Followed your instructions but it made made my handlebars to tight to turn. The inner bolt can’t be too tight.
You are an angel bro thank you 👌🏼👌🏼
How do u tighten a LOOSE handlebar...the 2 screws which hold it in place are VERY LOOSE
Is this a trick question?? Screwdriver would be my first guess. 😅
It’s definitely SCARY to ride with this amount of wobbling
I did not EXPLAIN MYSELF correctly earlier
I thought you were going to show us how to fix the latch that hold the two together when handle bars are up lol this was common sense same as bicycle. But the latch is notorious for coming undone while riding. And I thought maybe is adjustable since it has a screw going thru the spring
Can u fix for Hiboy s2 max pls wobble
Great stuff
I had a serious issue today where the hinge automatically came loose while going 18mph on the road. Thank god I got out safe. This is seriously dangerous. I only had mine for 2 weeks
Hey Ginger what's the best way to contact you?
DM me on my Instagram @gingeronWheels
Thanks Ginger on Wheels! I have the Pro and considering the Titan. Do you have the Titan? Thoughts? Thank you!
I have the Titan pro...
I used loc tight on the silver piece.
Got hit by a car the second day I had it! Now the stems loose .. the scooter seems ok and I’m ight too just bruised and bleeding .. need to fix the stem and get a new handle bar
Max3 wobble fix?
Very helpful. Thanks
Followed this exactly, but the screws are so bad on the scooter that they stripped and now I can't tighten them again. Thanks
can you please do a video of the removal of the front wheel of the hiboy s2 pro,my front motor went ,and they supose to send a replacement, smh the scooter not even 40 days old, awfull customer service and support is awfull also
How many miles did you put on it? Any updates on your situation?
Good video! I just found a highboy S2 in the dumpster yesterday. It looks like it’s salvageable. It needs:
1…the charging unit
2…rear brake repair(busted from apparent spill damage)
3…Handlebar fold down security clip on rear fender missing (has coat hanger Jerry rig)
…and now I notice…
4… The front end is loose as described in your video (that I did not notice until I saw this video first).
Nice find! Hopefully you can get it up and running.
Second, since everyone’s first. 😑
The other annoying thing is that now I'll have to wait for I don't know how long for them to send me a video on how to attach the stem better because my stem is really messed up it doesn't connect at all with the wheel anymore I mean the scooter is still attached but the wheel and the stem can move into different directions if I move my arm a certain way
Hi Ginger,
Didn't knew this scooter. Will defenitly check it out !!
Thx and keep safe during this awfull time of Covid.💪
Hey @ginger -
I bought this scooter 10 days ago, I've put maybe 20 miles on it and noticed a wobble.
I tried the tightening in the manual and it didn't work, so I used your method -
apparently I had SHEARED THE SCREW OFF within my first 20 miles of riding.
Step nine let’s ride
Ugh, I forgot the most important one!
thanks
it happens because. most people yank and pull an the stem while riding. you not supposed to lean on it. its for steering and balance
Most likely. I think it happened when I was out filming the stair jumps.
@@GingerOnWheels yup that would do it.. thanks for sharing. keep them coming
The piece you have to lift or slide up to unlatch then stem seems to have play and there is no way to adjust. You’re telling me your locking mechanism has NO play at all? I’m not calling you a liar but I find that hard to believe due to the design of this particular device. Thanks again.
Dm me on Instagram. I'll show you a video and work you through it.
@@GingerOnWheels Super cool of you to offer that ✌️
Hit 22mph on mine if u use app u put speed up to 19 mph and i hit 22 on it and i weigh 212 and im 6ft 2
Step MOST IMPORTANT
If you need to tighten something, it means it'll come lose within a few days likely.
use loctite before puting it back in, never hear about it again.
Thanks and it was easy until I heard a snap from the screw in the center
@@danimal865 awesome, I'm glad you know what you're doing. Please report back because you're not the only one I've encountered with this problem and it would be nice to be able to give helpful tips. 👌
@@GingerOnWheels yeah no problem. Its just frustrating. Lol. They could atleast include all the fault codes and what they mean. If they did that it would not only remove some stress from their support department but also give customers an idea of where to start. I mean their instruction book only includes fault code E4 and E10. Haha i was like errr i have E3... know what i mean? And there is literally no info on what the trouble codes mean.
@@GingerOnWheels im cheating a little. Haha its my first electric drive anything, but im an electrician by trade. That helps, but this in hub brushless motor wizardry is alien to me still. Haha ill figure it out i think though
A little bit of super glue and some duct tape should do the trick. 😆
That is plan b , yes. Always.
Blue Loctite
You know Allen wrenches can be used in two orientations ? You use the shallow length for more torque and don’t use a pliers 🤓
lol I know im late to the party but that screw in the middle is suppose to be loose.
U get drunk and let some frustration out on a wall with that right hand ???
DONT DO IT MAKES PROBLEM WORSE AND MAKES IT MUCH HARDER FOR U TO TURN
