Title Match Network is back with another exclusive from the legendary Sabu.
Hear about the time when former WWE, ECW, TNA star Test (Rest in Peace) did not want to cooperate with CM Punk's offense. Sabu was with Punk backstage with he and Test were going over the match.
It all went down before an episode of the WWE's ECW reboot. ECW is Extreme Championship Wrestling, what many consider the #3 wrestling promotion next to WWF and WCW in the mid 1990s.
Test (Andrew Martin) unfortunately passed away from a drug overdose in 2009 at the age of 33.
We also discuss John Kronus (RIP) and Perry Saturn aka The Eliminators. Also, hear Sabu's thoughts on wrestling fellow ECW star 2 Cold Scorpio (aka Flash Funk) on Monday Night Raw.

I felt that so much when he was saying that when people die they're all of a sudden a saint when they weren't. It's some delusion due to death we should only think of good and not bad but that's never true especially if the person was wholeheartedly terrible. I've seen it a lot in life and has always confused me.

You don't need to respect the dead if they weren't respectful while alive. Those folks who believe that also believe that a guy in the sky saved everything and this is his result lol. So i understand why confusing. Also most nerotypicals lie and never say how they feel.
When my mom dies I'll be happy because the world will be safe from her. The dead isnt sacred life is but most think its judt a vehicle to abuse while they're "saved"
In the torah it reads that this is out paradise so we live our life like this is all we got. So if you're an asshole now when you're dead you're just a dead asshole. You die who you are not some fabled hero who did some things with talent or paid skills. Everyone does big whoop lol those dame folks who glamourize death made a rich loser white supremacist a president. Those same folks let murders go because of xyz. Those folks excuse so much it allows an excape to harm. But those folks have a church every square centimetr.

My impression of Test was because of his size and good looks he always seemed to get a push that ultimately went nowhere because he just didn't have the charisma to get the fans behind him as a babyface or draw enough heat as a heel, then when the invasion happened and the roster got bloated with wrestlers who did have charisma and were just as big if not bigger than him he went on the juice a little too much, add recreational drugs and painkillers to that and that was that.
Very sad but a common story in the wrestling business back then

    • @carlosnn8150

He had some degree of charisma when he was Steph's (and to a lesser degree Stacy Keibler's) bf, but when that storyline was over (yet another Hunter crime) they didn't use him right, and he didn't have enough skill to propel himself further into the main event either. Didn't help that his addictions and bad attitude, which fed into each other, soured his presence in the locker room. Still, he was a good enough tweener midcarder, and a great big boot, fwiw. RIP.

Test even went over on Scott Steiner and won this feud! This was the BEST character Test played on WWF/E programming, in my honest opinion-most of my Test memories are from this period. 2003 should've been the year for Test to get elevated into the upper midcard/main event scene!
With Brock Lesnar leaving; if only Test didn't get that neck injury in '04, I can see him getting drafted to SmackDown in '04 and being the guy to dethrone Eddie Guerrero for the WWE title-rather than it being JBL. I feel like Test was certainly more of a draw than JBL ever was! Test (as WWE champion) could've assembled his own faction; similar to The Cabinet, only way better.
      Test
      Luther Reigns
      Sean O'Haire
      Mark Jindrak
and a heel valet (maybe Miss Jackie, or someone fresh from OVW!)
This would've been a monster faction on SmackDown, but life didn't work out that way, furthermore; WWE creative probably would've slept on the opportunity regardless, lol. APA could've also still been doing their thing on SmackDown! within this timeline, and I know for a fact people would've loved to see that!

Always was a Test fan, but he clearly had issues that weren't just exclusive to addiction. Being part of that weird "fraternity" culture that seems so prevalent did no favors when he came to WWECW. Hi career seemed to cool down after the brand split, and once ECW was paired up with Smackdown, which had a reputation for being a more chill environment compared to Raw's locker room, and you're gonna come across as a manchild.

@@kemalmighty2288 As much as I love Test, I've done my research; Sabu is not being salty at all here-he's very humble with everything he says, he's telling the truth; simply recounting his own personal experiences with Test.
Test has always been a stiff worker, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, (honestly it made me believe his in-ring work a lot more, and it certainly got Test over in my book; in addition to his excellent character work, entertainment value, and charisma!) it just didn't do Test any favours to be conducting himself like that during his second WWE run.
Before returning, remember that Test broke his neck in '04 while wrestling on the RAW brand towards the end of his first run. Test was released from WWE in late 2004, because WWE claimed they "couldn't afford" to keep paying him for a year, while he recouped his neck injury.
Test literally said in his final interview, the only reason he went back to the WWE again, instead of retiring; was to shove their treatment towards him back up their ass. So, when he returned in 2006 and debuted in ECW; he was juicing the roids harder than ever before, being more stiff than ever before, and also-more bitter and politically stubborn than he had acted, ever before.
It's unfortunate, but I just think Sabu and basically the entire WWE/ECW roster found themselves in the same workspace as Test, when he was essentially in his most toxic headspace. Politically though, the dude (for whatever reason) just could never get over with VKM and the office; not enough for them to give Test the push, that many fans at the time, did feel he deserved!
At the end of the day, I don't think Test was a bad guy at all. I just think he was deeply misunderstood and frustrated by the political nature of the business, and the dwindling direction that the trajectory of his career ended up taking.
If Test was just used a little better and actually treated with some respect from some key people, I think Test would've made a greater effort to return that respect to the business, and truly become a better worker; the potential certainly was there.
