    I rarely get to play games, I spend most of my time collecting the roms and building my retro front ends and the rest of the time scrolling through thousands of them feeling overwhelmed. Anyone else has this dilemma?

      I feel you, brother. I spend more time setting up the device with an overwhelming amount of games on different systems than actually playing any of them. I now just will set up maybe 2 or 3 games per system. Once I finish those ones or get tired of them, I will add a couple more at a time. That way, it makes it easier to digest a smaller group of games that I can focus on.

    If anyone who wants to play Zelda Lnks Awakening and doesn't know,
    it was also released on gameboy color as Links Awakening DX

    My dad always said "merry-oh" too, because that's how they said it on the commercial where they parodied "Car 54 Where Are You?" as that was one of his favorite shows back then.

    • @DatPixon
      @DatPixon 19 дней назад

      Lots of people pronounce the name Mario as "Merry-oh" because that's just how names work and certain dialects formed (depending on who you ask in North America, for example, it's either a "northeastern" pronunciation or how "true Italian-Americans" pronounce the name).
      That doesn't make it correct, though. We know clearly and precisely how his name is pronounced, not only by his creator and company of origin, but repeatedly through the very games he stars in and just so happens to say his name: "Mah-ree-oh."
      If Mario was a real human and, say, came to your local Best Buy to sign copies of his newest release, you wouldn't go up to him and scream "I love your games, Mare-yo!" just as you wouldn't mispronounce a name to someone's face if you heard or were corrected on how it was pronounced. It's embarrassing and rude to do, mostly, but also makes you look like a total imbecile to any onlookers. That, of course, is more cloudy when it comes to some ubiquitous name for celebrities and characters-- but when we literally hear the entity saying their name every time we boot up his games, what's the excuse?
      Ultimately it's just something that happens to the general population, like your dad does-- saying a word or phrase in a specific and defiant way whether colloquially or habitually. Many people's moms called any console a "Nintendo" and couldn't help but say "Pokey-men" despite endless corrections. It's nothing to be annoyed with, but it is pretty jarring to hear a person tied deeply with gaming and Nintendo purposely and knowingly mispronounce it. Makes you think less of them, if they're portraying themselves as someone respectable and knowledgeable of the hobby.
      And no, I don't personally care how you pronounce it 😏

    Thumbs up for Tetris DX. I've clocked hundreds of hours on it on various retro handhelds over the past few years. Perfect pick up n play puzzle game. I also recommend my favorite shoot-em-up, Einhander for PS1, Castlevania Bloodlines (Genesis/MegaDrive), Super Punch-Out!!, ActRaiser, and the immortal Donkey Kong Country series.

    Dang good and eclectic list of retro games, Dweeb! You already got me started on BurgerTime Deluxe, but there are definitely some games I'm going to have to try when I'm, as you Canucks would say, oot and aboot. I was impressed by how accurate the NES Pac-Man looked, at least compared to the 2600 atrocity. Hey, I personally love the Atari 2600, and will play Asteroids, Missile Command, Space Invaders, Chopper Command, Atlantis, Seaquest, and others 'til the day I die, but yeah, there are some stinkers in that library.

    Cybernator is a great play on SNES, you can literally jump right in and have a great time in under five minutes as a new player. 10/10 arcade mech game where every few missions you get a jetpack and it becomes a side scrolling shooter. Hold L1 to steady your aim on level 2 and make it exactly like Galaga.

    Oh yes, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, a Sega game I first tried on my Mom's cousin's computer. 😀
    It was such a great experience for me to use 3 different elemental shields in the right situations after playing Sonic The Hedgehog 2. 🙂
    If you have the original S3&K rom file, you can use the Sonic 3 A.I.R. named fan remaster on Windows, Linux and Android platforms. Not only can you enjoy the Sonic game set in a variety of locations on a widescreen screen resolution, but you can also use a variety of unlockable features. 🙂

    Lots of great choices here! As far as other Atari 2600 games that still hold up, I've been playing a lot of Spider Fighter and Mountain King. I'm biased on Mountain King because I played the heck out of this game as a kid. You have to get used to the jumping, and you might have to look up how the game works in the first place, but in my old-gamer biased opinion it absolutely holds up as an early platformer with a unique gameplay loop.

    Just the thing! Its not just kids who would benefit from this kind of showcase. Some of us grown ups had parents who were too stingy to buy us real consoles back in the day. We had a Tunix. A what? Exactly. I've been trying to work out how to scale the mountain of NES and SNES games on my handhelds.

    If you are going to play Pokemon Yellow on a retro handheld then it should be the Yellow Legacy romhack. It IS the definitive gen 1 Pokemon game that requires no trading to catch'um all.

    I just picked up a physical copy of Mega Man 3 for my NES about a week ago. It is fun as H-E double hockey sticks.
    Never really played it as a kid. I have always been one of those "Mega Man 2 is the best" guys haha.
    But now I'm old and have disposable income and have decided to spend my midlife crisis recollecting my old NES collection, including the ones I wanted but never got to own.
    I just wanted/missed that old feeling of putting the cartridge into the NES door and push the game down and hit the power button.
    Then you're off to the races.
    No loading bars or nothing!
    Just play the dang game and immediately have fun. I got my kid hooked on Marble Madness the other day bwahaha!

    I think MegaMan 3 is superior to 2 as well, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles IS my favourite game ever. Glad you mentioned that one over 2 as well
    I personally prefer Mario Bros 3 over Super Mario World, but that’s just my opinion
    I would’ve put Metal Gear Solid on this list where you did put a PS1 title already.
    The real shocker though is YOU DIDN’T PUT DOOM!!!!

    hello my friend, i really enjoy your hidden gem videos. i think it would be great to see some lists of systems that aren't talked about as much that people could really enjoy. things like atari jaguar, neo geo pocket color, maybe sega cd/32x, etc. some reviewers talk about how they like these systems but i feel like they're not showcased enough and have a lot to offer the rest of the community. not sure if i missed some of your videos covering them or if you already have some of them in the works but i think it would be really cool.

    If i need to list my long time favourites, i believe they would be something like this, despite not at this exact order and i could having left something out...
    - Altered Beast (MegaDrive);
    - Cadillacs & Dinosaurs (Arcade);
    - Chrono Trigger (SNES);
    - Daytona USA (Saturn/Arcade);
    - Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls (GBA) - if not the first NES one;
    - Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu (Turbografx16);
    - Kirby: Knightmare in Dream Land (GBA) - if not just the NES' "Kirby's Adventure";
    - Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (Dreamcast/PS1);
    - Metal Slug X (NeoGeo);
    - Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA) - as "Fusion" too;
    - Resident Evil (Saturn/PS1);
    - Sonic 3 & Knuckles (MegaDrive)
    - Sonic R (Saturn);
    - Neversoft's Spider-man (Dreamcast/PS1);
    - Street Fighter Zero 2 (Arcade) - if not the superb "Zero 3" on Saturn;
    - Streets of Rage 2 (MegaDrive);
    - Super Hang On (Arcade/MegaDrive);
    - Super Mario All Stars - for "Mario Bros 3" (SNES);
    - The King of Fighters' 97 (NeoGeo) - since it has an astonishing AST on CD, i'm used to keep that over the Arcade/Cart version;
    - "Zelda 64" - thats how i used to call "Ocarina of Time" (N64);
