These talking paper characters brought a tear to my eye. Loved Gruff
But.. tears make paper soggy.. 😢
Amazing work bro , please give me some work
Same I loved it I literally checked his channel everyday
,
3 years hard work, I better see this get awards because everything to the animation and story was great.
Absolutely, if this doesn't win an award I will riot because those awards are rigged
I hope you get funding to actually make a full feature film in this style!
Stop motions and puppet filming always fascinated me because it has the live action texture despite being animated it gives a layer of feeling real despite all being animated!
Makes sense on why it was a long production. Definitely would like to see where this paper animation goes.
Reminds me of the way the made all the characters in Coraline talk. Every single frame had a different "mask" for the characters, so they had tons and tons of those. I love how you didn't go full digital and made a nice blend with real paper props and digital editing. It honestly surprised me how smooth her mouth moved and I thought you just made like hundreds of paper cutouts just for the mouth.
Well, it's only 60 per second! Even is there's 20 seconds of speech there'd be.. 1200......
uhh, nevermind!
I respect your work so so so much. Never stop doing what you’re doing and just know you’ve inspired so many people to just keep going. Even me. Thank you for such amazing content!
Your work deserves an Oscar man, it's SO GOOD! HOW COME IT'S JUST AN INDIE ANIMATION! Jokes aside, i really love this short, 12/10, WILL watch again!
This man deserves more for his creativity
Gruff is the best short film ive ever seen it bought a tear to my eye and please make more short films like gruff
this is a absolute masterpiece
I just wanna say, that "Papercut Animation" is a great name for this style
I’d pay to see an entire movie in this style, I love this so much!!!!
Your work deserves more acknowledgement. All the details and work are pure perfection. Can't wait to see what you plan to do in the future
Gruff spoke to me as a person without a father or grandfather. It spoke to all my friends dads that helped take that place and taught me along the way. Gruff spoke.
THE HANDS!!!! I looooved loved loved the hands. They didn't have any actual "moving" mechanism but the folds in the fingers and their interaction with the rest of the figures make it have a really natural movement feeling... They're amazing.
This shortfilm was really touching, and I always love seeing the proccess. I wish more people would appreciate your hard work!
Gruff is the most Wholesome Film I ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Your ability to make close ups of paper hands move so naturally must have taken a lot of practice. Choosing the artstyle you were aiming for is the best creative decision of your passion project. Paper is a flimsy, floppy, and fragile material to work with in stop motion so I am very impressed with how everything turned out seemlessly. This was 9 miniutes of pure perfection.
It was worth the wait. I love the short, even though I speak Spanish. I loved the paper puppets. Maybe in the future there will be Gruff 2.
I imagine how much work it takes to make these movements without the help of interpolation that is present in most animation software, it really looks incredible.
Ngl I'd watch a full length feature film in this style... it's honestly really beautiful for just being paper. Keep up the great work 💚
I can't wrap my head around this. It's so much creativity, passion and dedication spread across three years. Amazing. Absolutely amazing ❤
Gruff is AMAZING! You did an outstanding job on it and I am still in awe.
It's wonderful what can be created with paper and an imagination!❤❤❤
i want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generosity in sharing your secrets to success. Your willingness to impart your wisdom and insights has been invaluable to me, and I am truly appreciative of the guidance you've provided. Your encouragement and support have inspired me to reach new heights, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities you've helped me uncover. Thank you for believing in me and for your unwavering commitment to my growth and development. Your kindness and mentorship mean the world to me, and I am blessed to have you in my life.
Anytime! So glad it's helped you.
@@Righteous_RobotThank you! I’m so happy for being the first one to reply to! you made my day. 😊
I remember watching the premiere from beginning to end and just clapping with tears afterwards, 10/10 masterpiece
Give this guy an oscar!
You need an award for your wonderful work.
this is so wild how you combined different methods of digital with hand-crafted paper puppets
It's crazy how much work lies in this shortfilm! Incredible!
A masterpiece even without the context of how it was made, but when that is taken into consideration GRUFF becomes a great achievement of the human species to be set in the Louvre or Smithsonian!
Everyone says this is a "talent". But I argue that all of these are skills developed through extensive trials and errors harder than we can even start to imagine. A lot has been shown in this film, one key factor is patience and of course, joy in the process. This is the best example of "Quality over Quantity" and "Enjoying over work"
Edit: Skill and Talent aren't the same thing. Talent is something you are born with, you don't have to work so hard to do something you are talented to do. Skills is slowly developed through years of experience. Which is why sometimes, telling someone who managed to create an amazing artform "talent" is more of an insult because they were the only people who knew the sht they went through just to complete their piece. Skillful is the more respectable word for these things
I thought to myself I was only gonna watch some of it but I I just got sucked it to it and watched the whole thing without realizing that it was only about 3 minutes. I find this very interesting the stop motion is something I’ve been doing for about 6 or 7 years now so I know that even small things like this can take a minute to get right. Gruff is definitely a new milestone on RUclips there really isn’t anything like it on RUclips so it’s special. it’s the beginning of a new era
This deserves an Oscar award
God… every time you post, I am blown away by your dedication, creativity, attention to detail.... I could go on but then this comment would never end 😂😂
3 years, 10 minutes, 10 minutes of Perfection.❤
the work you've put into this is absolutely incredible
You are an artist!! God has blessed you with an amazing gift!
I especially loved how you animated the mouths.
This is the kind of animation style that I have never seen before yet it is so unique and so original that it actually plays really well in the short film. So, a huge round applause to the creator behind "Gruff".
Wow, the amount of effort that goes until like every little detail, even like the speaking that some people wouldn't even know this like I didn't even think about how the speaking with work while watching the film until watching this video. It kind of just passed right over me. But this way it makes me think like wow. There was so much effort planned like every small detail, even if there's the chance that most people might even miss it.
Love the behind the scenes commentary. It’s cool seeing what didn’t make the cut and how you problem solve.
i've been waiting for gruff for so long and i praise you for all the work you put into it.
I haven’t cried at a short film in a long time…sir, you have broken that streak, and I could not be happier. The story was amazing. The effects were jaw-dropping, and the craftsmanship was legendary. Thank you for creating this wonderful masterpiece.
Thank you for providing a great insight into having passion for art versus resorting to AI generated. So many people still don't understand why genAI is such a soulless and damaging path for humanity, so the more we can get people to spread awareness then hopefully the more others will come to understand that art isn't just about the end goal or making a product, it's supposed to be a personal experience, an true expression of you and your own experiences, not some AI's.
And hopefully with that understanding, they realize why even supporting those genAI tools through likes and memes is itself damaging, so long as the data is being sourced without express consent.
it will be timelessly impossible to understate how incredible all the effort you put into this is, absolutely beautiful, more big words to describe how great this is
This is a masterpiece and the behind the scenes just make it even more of a masterpiece the passion the love for this craft it’s inspiring!!!
Please do more videos like this, and i dont even mean specifically about gruff but just your art form as a whole!
That’s the plan 😉
@@Righteous_Robot YAY!

You need to make more movies gruff was a very good one. There are some movies that have million dollar budgets that I’m disappointed with. Yours was beautiful.

I LOVED YOUR SHORT FILM IT WAS AMZINGGGG
what an amazing work.
That's a helpful tip. Thank you very much!
That's amazing…wow!
I just saw your segment on Sunday morning man. Congratulations!!!!!🎉 🍾
Sometimes mixing concepts that, may be both old and new: pays off amazingly, because if you can’t use one on it’s own… making something that combines different methods can make something beautiful!
(Sometimes you have to test the obvious stuff before going on to the more intricate methods, yes doing this.. in it of itself is intricate but hey sometimes it doesn’t hurt to try!)
😊 definitely a great short.
You didn't just make paper talk, you made paper feel. ❤️
Very pulchritudinous short film, was amazing hope to see more soon!
I never realized you had many different techniques for the dialogue. This was interesting
Your Style is amazing. Maybe the Most artistic style ive seen
