- First, seen from an outbound Metra Milwaukee District- West Line train, two DM&E / IC&E SD40-2s wait in Galewood Yard at Hanson Park with an ethanol train, and a little further, at Mars, Canadian Pacific GP38-2 #4511 works Mars Chocolate.
The outbound Metra has departed Franklin Park as the end of a CP manifest works its way past the preserved original Tower B-12.
Soo Line GP38-2s #4449 and 4429 lug a (mostly) grain train into Bensenville Yard, as Soo SD60 #6041 and CITX SD40-2 #3157 head out of the yard eastward with an intermodal / autorack train.
Soo Line GP38-2 #4435 and a very rare bird- ex-Milwaukee Road "bandit" GP40 #2041, head east for the Belt Rwy of Chicago with autoracks.
A fast Canadian Pacific manifest that will bypass B'ville Yard passes under the B-12 signals, with CP ES44DC #8752 and an AC4400CW in CP Rail livery for power.
As a Canadian National freight curves from the Waukesha Sub onto CP / Metra trackage in the distance, an outbound Metra MD-W Line train speeds under the signals, heading for a stop at Franklin Park.
Later, a CN manifest, led by SD75I #5767 and SD70M-2 #8880, comes off home rails and rolls onto CP/Metra at B-12.
Later that evening, we are one station to the east on the Metra line at River Grove, where a CP ethanol train, led by AC4400CW #9640, roars under the massive new signal bridge and past the station. A Chicago-bound Metra train sneaks behind the ethanol train and departs River Grove, heading for its next station stop of Elmwood Park, and eventually, Chicago Union Station.
