Awesome car cool story. Once upon a time an old timer told me that his dad had a model T and when it was cold they would drain the oil set it on the wood stove to keep it hot and poor it back into the engine so it would be easier to start.
Absolutely bloody awesome, guys! Glad to see you get a win on the old girl. Yep - sometimes they can fight you, sometimes they really want to live. The cool thing about early vehicles is that there is no electronic gizmos trying to micromanage you and their wiring loom is basically lights, ignition and charging....plus a power wire for the wiper if it has one. The engines were built with such large tolerances (by today's standards) that if you waved an oily rag at them, they would start. If they aren't seized, they will run.....and with mechanical brakes, you have them from the start - no matter how long they have been sitting. If they were there when it was parked, they'll still work when it comes time to move again. A great vehicle to get going and always a crowd pleaser. There's something about the sounds the engine and gearbox of an old car makes that always puts a smile on a petrolhead's face - no matter what type of car he usually prefers to drive. See? You don't need a big budget or a parts cannon. Internal combustion is internal combustion no matter HOW old it is. Got compression? Great! Add spark, fuel and air and she'll make a noise. I think your parts company (whichever one it was) actually did you a favour by letting you down. A win is a ton more epic and ultimately more satisfying when it's done on the fly. Bloody good on ya! All the best.
@@KiwiStag74 everything you said was great. The main thing I loved about all of this was not having to work on brakes. It amazes me how solid this thing actually is. On October 23rd, 1933, Helen O'Neill was 23 years old when she was shot in the back during the shoot out between DIllinger and law enforcement. She was severely injured but didnt die. This all according to ChatGPT. Very interesting history!

If you Google John Dillinger hold up in Mason City Iowa, you will find that it was in March of 1933. There is no mention of a woman or girl being injured or killed during or after the robbery. This is the first time I have watched one of your videos and, as an old car hobbiest for 60 years, it is painful to watch you fumble your way through this start-up. I'm praying for the survival of this poor Model A, and I am a Chevy guy.
Yeah I commented as well. Because Dillenger used a Buick 90 for the Mason City robbery. I’ve read up a lot on gangster cars. Dillenger almost exclusively stole ford v8’s and always prior to the robberies. He did steal a 1930 model A well on the run but not during a robbery. Also no girl was ever shot in their back seat. Maybe this car was on the street during a shootout but that’s even highly unlikely as well.
From what I can tell, the spark plugs you have in cylinder 2 and 3 are "serviceable" spark plugs. They can be taken apart and cleaned internally. I think I did a short video on the ones I have and put in my 1930 D John Deere tractor.
Choke is the same rod as the GAV, pull it up to choke the carb. The gauge you found is the ammeter, not fuel. The fuel is a manual gauge just above the speedo

I would be interested in seeing the resurrection of antique chain saws.... But you referred to a early 2000s bicycle as an antique, so it may be that we have a different idea of the term antique.
I used to know a guy about ten years ago that had a nearly 100% original Model A that he drove regularly. His family had owned it since it was new, and nothing had been done to it, other than replacing a couple of tires. It was mind blowing when I saw it. It even had the original plugs and wires, and it was 90 years old at the time. They don't make them like that anymore.

i would be so all over that with 50/50 acid and diesel and used not new oils no patina is a natural thin layer of oxides that forms on the surface of metals, stones, and wood over time. It can be a result of atmospheric exposure, oxidation, or chemical reactions. Patina can vary in color and texture depending on the material it forms on. For example, copper and bronze can develop a blue-green patina called verdigris, while sterling silver can develop a black patina. Patina can slow down further corrosion and doesn't flake off like rust. In fact, many people prefer the look of a naturally patinated iron grate because it requires less maintenance. If you want to prepare a metal surface for patination, you can use a cleaning solution called No-Name Patina Prep. This soft abrasive powder removes dirt, oils, fingerprints, and oxidation from metal surfaces. It can also be used to prepare metal for enameling and solderin
