As a former IS300 owner I can confirm that the hood prop clip does break. 😂
So, my car got a recall that I didn't know of, the hood will sometimes come up. I took my car to get another key. (Mechanic lost it so they gave me the money for another) anyway. I brought it in and they were just like oh yeah
Your hood might come up so we'll fix that for you

the previous owner of my IS said the clutch was replaced but he couldn't remember what mileage. I changed it a few weeks ago and it was definitely the original clutch at 186k miles.

I'm in the *exact* same predicament with my SX! Rusted out rear subframe and rocker panels from hell. If it wasn't a SX I wouldn't be spending as much time as I am on it. Alas, excited to see how you tackle this. Keep up the great work!

As someone that has owned 10+ is300s, majority will come with hood prop holder broken, and it’s hard to find a rusty is300 but like you said depending where you get it from, you could end up getting yourself a rusty one
Damn my sc300 subframe looks like that rusty one and I don’t know how to deal with it

Rust-Oleum rust primer. Or a concrete and rust removal/primer industrial brand or paint brand by the gallons or so

Evan you need the figs engineering hood strut kit. I have it on my is300 and it’s a game changer. I hate the props that come off the hood itself. Terrible design lol

Psst, it's a/c dye. Freon is liquid until its compressed into a gas and there is also PAG oil in the system to lubricate the compressor.
Rust lol here in Canada that’s an clean vehicle most would call, rust free😂
The receipt was probably showing a RECOMMENDATION of replacing the compressor & condenser. Those are certainly not new.

It's your sunroof drains run down to rockers which is a nightmare and there's nothing you can do to stop it

You can use a r150 from a 2nd Tacoma and swap the bell housing to the jz one and you got yourself a stout trans for like $800. R150 has shorter gears I believe and might not be as stout as the r154 but I hear it’s miles stronger than the w58. Just a little idea if you want to get it up and running for cheap and do somethin a little different!

Thats the problem when you got to a muffler shop and have them redo the exhaust. They weld everything together and dont put bolt on sections unless you supply and tell them ahead of time...smh
Gas tank is sketch but the guy may not have known about the rest of the rust… still stoked for the wangoon

I really hate seeing this continuing to happen. I've loved your content for years and you deserve to build cars that are nice. It just sucks seeing you have to start from a basketcase each time lately and it seems like you never really end up enjoying the car your stick the time and money into. This sportcross really does look like it may be better to part ways from and find a nicer starting point of a chassis. The red car looked a lot more solid, could've just replaced the wiring on that car with this as a donor.
Man thought my Virginia SX had rust (surface rust I’ve pretty much sanded and coated). Yours looks like it lived in IL or MI. If you need guide to wiring the SX to manual, check my channel and videos on that. I got a whole series on everything related to manual swap to have zero CEL.

Before you buy a car you should get it on your lift and really, REALLY inspect it. If they don't want you to get it on your lift then it's probably not worth buying.

Maybe the seller lied about rust i had it happen to myself with a car but just like you i made the mistake of just buying a car and not doing a proper and in depth inspection before buying are sellers A holes for lying absolutely but at the end if the day were the goofs that hand them our money always bring a jack or at least ramps to check under a car if they wont let you move on i started doing that since i got burned

It seems to be an ongoing trend with this channel. He buys a car proceeds to make a video to hype up the car. Then sure enough makes a video were the seller "screws him over in some way" than rinse and repeat.
