Little Georges was owned and operated by George Matsuoka. His mother baked the dinner rolls which was delicious. It was a excellent resteraunt. The portions were generous. One outstanding feature was all the waiters had moustaches and their hairstyles matched that of George Matsuoka. The ipswich clams were legendary as were the fresh oysters. They had a counter where you could select your oysters, I think. I cant remember exactly, its been so long. It was on Ala Moana Blvd, across from the old Gold Bond Bldg, which is a couple of blocks from the old pumping station, which is a historic landmark. Their most popular dessert was fresh strawberries served with brown sugar and freshly whipped cream. It was enough for 3 people.
Wow sounds so extravagant. I wish I could have experienced the food and atmosphere. It was probably gone by the time I was a kid. But my parents were poor so we rarely ever went anywhere to eat, even McDonalds was a rare treat.
Little George"s was our place to go for our birthdays,. It was a very special high end restaurant back in the 70's. The logo was guy with a mustache and all the waiters looked like Little George. If I recall correctly they all worn royal blue vest. We felt so very special celebrating our birthdays here, it was on another level for us back in the day. It was located where Moku"s is now.
When I was a kid, we use to go to little George’s and that’s the first thing came to my mind when you showed the inside. Since Co vid , haven’t dined out and I’m going to take my pops over here since we both got our shots last month . It’s good to finally get back to how it was except now the new norm is to use a 😷 when your out in public.... Mahalos for sharing ....ALOHA🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Aw I’m sorry you had trouble parking! I didn’t know you can park in the Battery Bill’s lot but that’s good to know, but there’s more stalls in the back of Liliha Bakery and Little Joe’s too. Every thing you guys got looked so delicious 😋 definitely have to go back.
Yeah we went on a Friday so it was super crowded and had no parking in the back either! But glad that Battery Bills let people park there after they close. Mahalo for watching!
Little George's on Ala Moana, w here Highway Inn is now. Very popular, unfortunately, owner George Masuoka passed away prematurely and restaurant didn't do well after. They had a great oyster bar, last great place for raw cherrystone clams.
I remember little George's. It was a very nice dinning experience. They really dotted on you with service and manners. We had gone there before a function., So our attire was semi functional. I really had the right date. Service was quick the menu was excellent even tho I didn't know prices I felt so taking advantage of him, but he treated me caringly. But I wish I could have taken him to a function of mine years later to return the favor at that restaurant but it was long gone and no sight of that date.
We ate there after the first shutdown reopening...our waiter was super nervous and timid. LOL I thought it was funny they kept the hot pot heating elements, but I guess it was cheaper to keep it, instead of replacing all the tables. When did Little George’s close? Because I remember always seeing the logo because it looked like my dad! Haha but, my parents worked at Ala Moana Volkswagen on Ala Moana blvd back in the day, so I always saw that sign!
Peter Kim, the owner was a football kicker at Kaiser High School, then was recruited by Bear Bryant of Alabama and was their kicker I believe all four years. Then played in NFL for a few years.

Looks good, prices are about the same for my area. Congrats on 1k.
Thank you!
I miss that butterfish! Also known as black cod. There’s no Foodland where I am right now 😕
I was thinking of taking my family there for dinner, Thanks for the review!

Aw that's too bad that it closed down. It sounded like a happening spot. I love oysters and clams and wish we had more oyster bars on Oahu.
Me too. The last “real oyster bar” I can think of was Andy Anderson’s John Dominis where 53 By The Sea is now.
Yes! Congratulations on 1k subs! 🤙🏽😎
Thank you 🙏

I'm not sure. Was a 70s spot so maybe early 80s it closed? The hotpot tables are a bit off putting but I had my wine so I was all G. 🤣
Sorry I'm late but just watched the video its awesome as always keep them coming
Never too late! Just on Hawaiian time. 🤙
What a great video! The food looked so good!!! Love your content
Thank you!
Little Georges where all the waiters had to have a mustache and Pearl City Tavern steakhouse !
Looks so good. :P :P :P
Peter Kim, the owner was a football kicker at Kaiser High School, then was recruited by Bear Bryant of Alabama and was their kicker I believe all four years. Then played in NFL for a few years.
Peter Kim walked on at Alabama and did not play in the NFL. He played one year for Hawaii so he could not have played for 4 years at Alabama.
@@gtango2000 yup, you are right.. he got cut trying for the NFL.
His name is Peter Kim
ah thanks for the correction!
