Aloha Misty: I hope you, and the family, are doing well! This establishment was a great find, and its offering are a “showcase” Hawaii-style comfort food. Just looking at the food brought back many memories of the days of eating while living in Hawaii. Those combos looked massive and splitting one combo into three meals could be possible for me. It is good to hear that the restaurant has has different choices for those that might need to dine on a low carb/low fat cuisine. I hope Aiden enjoyed his share of the deliciousness. 😀. Aloha Bill! Very busy with work, but hanging in there. Yes, we made three meals out of these plates between me and Aiden. They are huge. Lol. These plate lunch combos looked amazing. I'm so happy when you show us new places. I watch another channel that the guy doesn't like vegetables, and his friend tells him to "eat his veggies!" So every time you say that you don't like cooked carrots, I'm thinking, "eat your carrots!" Maybe a more appetizing name for the tartar sauce color? Don't think I want to eat "sewer green tartar sauce". Too funny, Misty. Gotta try this place out soon.
@titasmom678 lol. I'm so weird. I hate cooked carrots but love them fresh in a salad. I love veggies but just not cooked carrots. Strange. I think you'd like it with their huge menu. 😊

Hawaiian BBQ plate lunches looked pretty good. I haven't had BBQ in such a while. I had a healthy lunch with my gal pal-Mahi Mahi Ceviche. She usually eats like a bird. Well, this time she ate so much she told me she got tired at the table. Fell asleep and turned into a lumber jack on the drive back home. lol. The tomatoes were fresh and the lime juice was very nice and refreshing. I think that is what got her.
Oh mahi mahi ceviche sounds amazing right now. These are pretty recorded so I haven't had anything to eat since 9am but an apple. It is now almost 10pm. Super busy day. 🤙
99 Local Mixed Plate has my favorite Beef Stew Bowl. They moved from 99 Ranch Market, which was turned into The Home Depot in Mapunapuna. So even though they're further away, I still go there once in a while.
Even though you're not fond of Macaroni Salad, my favorite is at Family BBQ located at the Airport Trade Center; their are more like a Potato Macaroni Salad.
@EvilTheOne i remember them next to the pho place. I always used to eat lunch at 99 Ranch during work. I also ate at the Family BBQ but never had the mac salad. With potatoes sounds better. I'd like to try the beef stew bowl at 99 Local amoxed Plate. . Sounds delicious!
@@FoodFiend I grew up with my mother making great macaroni salads, She either made it with tuna OR with potato, although hardly ever by just merely being plain macaroni salad. But I did grow up with not having crunchy stuff inside the salad, so that's established my aversion to those things. And since family BBQ makes it with something similar to mashed potatoes, that made it interesting to me...and I liked it. Although this is coming from a person who usually likes macaroni salad. I suppose it's all a matter of taste.

thanks for the video i finally went to 808 hawn bbq wow cheap n ono i ordered mini a its bbq, katsu, 1 scoop rice n mac salad lots of food for a mini will visit there again

I like the garlic salmon & furukake ahi from here. That beef stew looked so good I'ma try that next time.

That combo with the Hamburger Steak, Teri Beef and Beef Stew/Curry or Chili is pretty common at the plate lunch places I go to.

I enjoy your reviews and grew up in waimanalo but most plate lunch’s are unhealthy but good!
Thank you! People shouldn't be eating plate lunches or fast food more than once a week. Moderation is key. I only eat out once a week for these videos, exercise everyday and make my own food throughout the rest of the week. I see people eat out everyday for lunch and dinner and cringe at what their health is like and their bank account. But that's the beauty of living in a free country. If it's your choice, it's your business and not mine. 🤙🤙

@kodiak536kodiak536 🤣🤣🤣 I understand. That's what I tell locals that complain about Zippys or whatever that never leave home. They take it for granted. I also lived in Massachusetts for a bit in college and had rice shipped to me. Back then it was hard to find Calrose rice. Now it is easier to find. Hope you can find ingredients at am asian store to make food at home. We found plenty of ingredients and even Hawaiian Sun in Tennessee. I saw Hawaiian Sun in Boston too.

Aloha Les! I go to the gym almost every day and walk 10k to 11k steps a day. Also I don't eat starch during the rest of the week. 🤙

That looks pretty good. Wanted to ask you Misty, what do you think of swai/basa fish being used as fried fish?
I don't mind eating it. I've read about how they're farmed in dirty areas and have high mercury content but I'm not too scared to eat it once in a while. I wouldn't eat it often or purchase it to cook at home. Same with Atlantic salmon. It's dirty and farmed in horrible conditions. If I could afford wild salmon often I'd buy that. You can't even find wild caught salmon in the grocery stores. I've only seen it at expensive places like Whole Foods.
@@FoodFiend Thanks! I have a friend that is dead set against basa. Last week I had fish and chips and I knew right away that it was basa. But it was flaky, moist and the pieces were huge. I just had that "Oh no, I'm eating basa" psychological thing, lol.
@MarkFromHawaii 🤣I look at it this way. All the people in SE Asia eat it and they're still alive. You could compare it to Americans eating tons of chemicals in pre packaged foods and some ingredients are banned in other countries but stores still sell these chips, cookies and canned foods. But we're still alive too 🤣

I was excited about the beef stew till you said it was too sweet. But the fish looked ono.
Yeah I like savory beef stew. But the meat was great. Next time I'd definitely get a shrimp and fish plate.

Be careful all the unhealthy foods you’re eating
You have to watch another video of what I eat in a week. This is once a week and I don't finish the plate and make it multiple meals. I have the blood work for blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure of a champ. I walk 10 to 11k steps a day. I'm good. Stay healthy. 🤙
