    I want to ask you if chemo&target therapy for breast cancer cause bones 'pain.

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  2 года назад +1

      Good question. The chemotherapy and targeted therapy don't generally cause bone pain themselves. Growth factors, given to keep your white blood cell count up can definitely cause bone pain, but of course, you didn't mention if you were on growth factor shots.

    Why is it impossible to find any information about how breast cancer progresses if it is untreated? Obviously we die. But what do we go through before we die and for how long? The treatments are SOOOOO awful. I'm 67 and have had four heart attacks. I don't want to extend my life if I am going to be miserable for the rest of it. I have to work, which means I have to be able to think and type. Being cancer-free is hardly a benefit if I'm homeless. Plus there is the financial cost. The "healthcare" industry is the only one that insists we agree to pay ungodly bills without being given even a ballpark figure of how much that might be.

    • @yerbba

      Such a good question. It is not actually a given that cancer will recur after surgical removal of a breast tumor. Treatment is given to decrease the risk of the cancer recurring. It's a matter of understanding what the risk of recurrence with and without a given treatment. Of course, in one person, the cancer will either recur or not recur. If the cancer recurs, it can be months or years after the primary tumor was removed. If it does recur, people can live for many years with recurrent disease. At that point, the goal of treatment is to manage the disease as opposed to cure, which is the goal when someone has early stage disease. I hope this has been somewhat helpful during this difficult time.

    Does Chemotherapy cause kidney damage? Thankfully I didn't need chemo this time, but I am at stage 3 CKD and I worry about reoccurrence since this was my second breast cancer (was cancer free for 30 years).

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  2 года назад +3

      Most chemotherapy is handled (metabolized) by the liver rather than the kidneys, but there are a couple of drugs for which we adjust doses if the kidneys are not working as well as normal kidneys.

    what's the cause of the serious Shiver?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Год назад

      If the shivering is not from cold iv fluids, it may be the result of an allergic reaction, which is rare but not unheard of.

    Good evening Dr
    I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Had a lumpectomy on my right breast . Pathology results: Stage 1 ( 1.6 cm tumor) grade 3 , no cancer on lymph nodes, oncotype rs 20 . My question is if I need quemotherapy ? Please advise

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  2 года назад +1

      Decision making about chemotherapy in your case may depend on your age and also any other medical problems you have. The bottom line, however, is that you are the main decision maker. While some people would choose to have chemotherapy with what you're telling us, others would not. Older people tend not to benefit from chemotherapy with this Oncotype assay.

    Body ache is there.

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  2 года назад

      I wish you were feeling better and hope that you start to notice improvement. If you are getting shots to increase your white cell count (often called "growth factors"), these can lead to body aches. Make sure that you let your medical team know about the body aches, especially if they are interfering with your ability to function or sleep.
