You are so knowledgeable. As breast cancer patients we are not only blessed but lucky to have a Doctor that "knows" so much and is willing to share with all of us too make the road we're traveling so much smoother. Thank you Doctor♡
On 8-4 my Birthday I'll is the day I was told "you have Breast cancer, 20years ago! But, I have permanent issues from chemo (all the stuff they don't tell you about) I have I have very painful bones, "I now use a cane! But Dr. Thinks I should be in wheel chair but I'm not ready" I now have severe osteoporosis And Broken a few bones just by getting out of bed at night..... And we have to watch my kidneys Because I have been very near my kidney doing not so great. I have so much Titanium And screws in my body holding me together, but I'm still here! Just stay positive the entire time!
Thank you for sharing your story. It's incredible to hear about your strength and determination, especially after 20 years. Your resilience is truly inspiring. Despite the permanent issues from chemo and other health challenges, you’ve stayed positive. Your story will undoubtedly be inspiring for others in our community.
I have the same, only stage 4 they, put me on abroxine, It shrunk the tumor as I had fungated outside my breast. However, these kind of cancers will always be terminal, they really never die! see yours was a year ago, let me know if you are still OK please, thank you ~
Some of the most commonly-used chemotherapy agents in the treatment of breast cancer can cause neuropathy. Neuropathy can start early on in the course of treatment, and it's important to let your medical team know if you are having any numbness in the fingers and/or toes. Taking a pause in chemotherapy, decreasing the dose, or changing the medications can help. In some people, yes, neuropathy can be long-term if not permanent. This can be really hard for people, affecting quality of life in sometimes serious ways.
Thank you for sharing your experience, we are rooting for you. Chemo brain is a concerning side effect for many people but is fortunately, usually not a long-term side effect. For those in whom it is, we don't want to diminish the impact it has on people's lives. We are getting a much better idea about how to manage this side effect of treatment. The decision about chemotherapy is of course highly personal. It sounds as if chemotherapy is important in your case given what you're conveying about the recommendation from your medical team.
Hi! I was terrified too! Once you are on treatmente you start learning how to manage your side effects. And also the doctors can recommend things to manage them. Drinking water has been good for me for my constipation...some people get diarrea but i have only had it when i eat something that upsets my stomach
Thank you..to share the side effects..when i had chemo, the nurse was not too helpful in assuring or providing information..all i remember was she gave me pamphlets about the chemo drugs..then i couldnt find them, her impatience response'well i already gave them to me'..i wish i could have the support and understanding you shared Dr Griggs..it would have helped me to feel less scared..thank you
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It’s so important to feel supported and well-informed during treatment. We're sorry that you didn’t receive the care and information you needed from your nurse. We hope our videos can provide some of the support and understanding that was missing during your treatment.
In reading my responses to your video I still have a tremendous amt of anger. By sharing here I feel someone is listening..with so many years gone by I don't have someone to share my feelings...I fear they will feel get over it has been so long ago..thank you for listening..
@@yerbba I saw the video you made on this after I left this comment. I’m a pharmacist so I knew what this is. You may want to consider using drug names in addition to drug class so that others will know what it is. Just a suggestion
How about eye problems? I have reduced acuity and have had to get a new prescription for distance vision. Also, I have blurred vision which effects night driving. I have learnt to tolerate these effects which occurred six days after second treatment of carboplatin and paclitaxel . Since then my dosage has been reduced by 20% which has not made a difference to those side effects. However, I have no problems with nausea, appetite loss, neuropathy and can cope well with fatigue after the seventh day of the 21 day cycle.
Thanks for writing about your experience. It's not uncommon for people to notice changes in their vision during and even after chemotherapy. We recommend that people not get a new prescription during chemotherapy but to wait until they are a couple of months away from chemotherapy. We have an upcoming video about changes in people going through breast cancer and its treatment.

I had my first chemo on 5th August. This month. A few days later I have had hand and arm tremors. They were very short only 30 mins once a day . Only two days. Now they have gone.
Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. It's good to hear that the tremors have stopped, but it’s always a good idea to mention any new or unusual symptoms to your medical team, just to be sure.
Thank you for watching. These side effects sound similar to peripheral neuropathy. Check out our video on neuropathy ruclips.net/video/weh3SGcWIFQ/видео.html .
Hi i’m a breast cancer patients stage 2 , i want to ask for an advice , by the way im 52 years Old , my period start to fail when im on chemotheraphy for 3 months now i dont have period is this normal ? Thank you in advance .
Thank you for watching and your comment. Chemotherapy can induce temporary (and possibly permanent) menopause. Depending on your age, your periods may come back.
Permanent heart damage from anthracycline therapy. Atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, had my mitral valve replaced and now have heart failure with an ejection fraction of 24%. Will you address this long term effects of chemotherapy and radiation for breast cancer. Hair loss is nothing compared to permanent heart damage.
Heart problems are an uncommon but incredibly important adverse effect of anthracyclines. It appears that the proportion of people having heart problems is less than 5%, but if you are affected, it is indeed serious. We will definitely do a video about this. Thanks for the suggestion.
In general, if the neuropathy interferes with function (difficulty holding things, buttoning buttons, etc.), the chemotherapy is held until symptoms are better.
I have neuropathy caused by chemotherapy, it's 2 months now after my chemotherapy is finished but this numbness and numbness in my feet doesn't go away, please advise me what to do, please doctor.
Thanks for writing. Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy can take many months or even years to resolve. You may find our video here to be helpful: ruclips.net/video/weh3SGcWIFQ/видео.html.
This sounds really hard. It is important to have this symptoms complex evaluated as it is not likely to be from chemotherapy even if it started with chemotherapy.
I had the opposite with my skin, he pigmentation on my hands and face disappeared, much to my satisfaction. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Could it be from the steroids I received the first 3-4 times before receiving texol?
Chemotherapy is a serious decision and is not given lightly. While it can have side effects, its primary goal is to extend life and improve quality by eliminating cancer cells. Thanks for writing. Severe pain is something your doctor can help you with. Pain after chemotherapy is uncommon. Pain after surgery is common, however.
In general, the most pronounced effects of chemotherapy, in particular, the fatigue, may start to lift after 6 months. About 1 in 20 people will have persistent fatigue. Your hair will start to grow in by 3 months (you may even need a trim over your ears at that time). Fingernails and toenails can take up to a year to grow in normally. Other side effects vary in terms of how long they last. For example, your taste should return within 3 months, and some people are left with longterm neuropathy.

Such a hard side effect to live with. There is still the possibility that the neuropathy will get better. It can take a very long time.
