I halved the recipe as I dont have 300grams of chocolate chips. These turned out so good and so soft. Will definitely be included in the Christmas cookie box rotation.
These cookies were intensely chocolatey and soft. They’re great to make for the holidays, and the full recipe will make around ~18 -25 based on what size scoop you use. From making these cookies, make sure you get a good coating of granulated sugar so all of the powdered sugar doesn’t dissolve into the cookie. Thanks for the recipe!
I love one bowl, no mixer recipes so much!! I just finished making them and they're soooo good, the instant coffee makes the biggest difference :) Thank you for the precise, detailed and concise video!
Yay! So glad they turned out for you!!! A bit of coffee is just magical when it comes to amplifying chocolate flavour. Now you’re making me want to make another batch of these cookies!
Just made these...they turned out perfect and just like the picture. I followed everything exactly except I only used 3 tablespoons of the instant coffee just in case it was too strong since my boyfriend doesnt like anything coffee. I also split the dough and baked one regular batch and one batch with Andes mints added. Very happy with the results!
I made these for Christmas. They came out perfectly and so delicious. My friends raved. I did end up with a few that smooshed together because I didn't leave enough space between as they do really spread. I will definitely be making these again!
I'm sure the chocolate cake mix version is also very delicious!!! This one probably tastes a bit more "grown up" with less sugar, depth from coffee, and more real chocolate.
just stumbled upon your channel today, loving the content! wish i saw this video a few days earlier tho. i actually recently made some chocolate crinkle cookies that were just ok so this would have been perfect, i’ll try your recipe soon! :)
I can hardly wait to try these! I'm thinking a touch of almond extract would be nice. I've always loved almond and chocolate. Thank you for this recipe!
You could even experiment with adding some finely chopped toasted almonds to the cookie! I haven't tried it myself but I could see it being absolutely delicious.
These look great (incl the variations… I’m also tempted to try a tahini swirl ☺️) and the vid is super clear & helpful! 2 quick Qs: what is yield (total # cookies) for 3T v 2T scoops? And how far apart should spacing be on parchment? Thank you!
You’re after my heart! Chocolate tahini is one of my fav flavour combos. 3T scoop will make ~20 cookies 2T scoop will make ~30 cookies (provided you don’t eat any of the cookie dough which I can never resist haha) Spacing wise, for 3T I usually go 6 to a standard half sheet like I showed in the video. For 2T, I can fit 11 per tray. Three rows horizontally: 4/3/4!
Do it!!! They're great all year round. I'm not really sure why crinkle cookies are associated with the holiday, tbh. Maybe cause they look like they're dusted in snow?
Very excited to make these and bring them to my partner's family for the holidays :) just wondering if they can be frozen for a few days and then thawed at room temp (or on the plane haha)?
🤗Hi.. new subscriber here from California.. just watching your video makes me want to bake right now.. Just a quick question... can I omit the coffee coz I'm sure my kids (toddler's) will definitely love to munch this CHOCOLATE CRINCKLES... hoping for your reply... thank you😊
@@sheldoskitchen my apologies Sheldon for not thanking you for your quick reply (11 months ago.. it's been a tough year for me) ... My kids liked it so much!! I used decaffeinated instant coffee .. Thank you 😊
This was the perfect texture and super crinkly!!! Super beautiful and delicious, loved the instant coffee taste! If I were to do ube crinkle with this approach, how much extract would you suggest I add and what would I omit from the recipe?
Yes!!! I tweaked this recipe so much to get as much flavour in there as possible and make them super duper crackly. Modifying this recipe to make ube crinkles will be difficult because such a large portion of this dough is chocolate (real chocolate and cocoa powder) and the dough relies on the properties of chocolate (sets up solid but melts easily) for how it bakes up. I'd suggest searching for some other crinkle recipes tailored for ube, whether made with ube extract or ube powder.
These look so good! I plan to try them. Question: why not combine the baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour in one bowl and add them together? (as is typical in most cake and cookie recipes)
I just made this earlier today and my cookies turned out amazing - fancy looking and great taste!! First batch of chocolate crinkle cookies in my life and it was a huge success. Wish I could share pictures in the comment😆 Just wondering if I can substitute flour for powdered sugar on top to lower the sweetness? I find them a bit too sweet for me. Otherwise they’re perfect cookies🥰🥰 Thank you Sheldo for sharing this recipe as well as the video. They’re really easy to follow!
Hey Rita! So glad the cookies turned out for you. Flour on the outside won’t taste so good because it’ll still be basically raw by the time the cookies are done. You can try lowering the sugar in the recipe slightly or using darker chocolate. That will help with sweetness!
I don't buy instant coffee and, tbh, I don't like the taste in the chocolate cake recipes I have made where they have you add hot coffee instead of hot water. These recipes all claim 'you don't even taste the coffee' but I definitely do. And, weirdly enough, I drink black coffee every day and several cups throughout the day.😂. But I also hate anything sweet in my coffee and can't stand mocha flavored anything. So, is the instant coffee optional?
I absolutely love your videos and I want to try to make these soon but I don’t have a microwave so I want to melt the chocolate over a water bath. I was just wondering if you think it would then be best to melt the chocolate with the butter or melt them separately then combine?
Melt together over double boiler! It will work perfectly. Careful not to get any water/steam condensation into the chocolate though because it can seize up.
@@sheldoskitchen thank you so much for replying! Honestly everything you make looks so delicious that I’ve purchased some baking equipment (like a cookie scoop) just with your recipes in mind. Can’t wait to try these!
I made this but it was too soft and I couldn’t roll into a ball to make a cookie. I don’t know what I did wrong. Every time I attempt this cookie it always turn out not good.
Flax egg should be okay in this recipe! May need some other adjustments for it to be perfect, but I haven't tried so can't speak to it from personal experience.

My mom used to make a version of these. I hate to say it but this recipe is better! Fluffier and easy! Thanks for the great video and recipe!

I make my own chocolate from the raw bean and used my 70% in this recipe. Wow! Intense chocolate flavor in the best cookie ever. Thanks Sheldo!

Finally some actual great tips, I'll bake them for my boyfriend 😊 Thank you for the recipe
I make these every Christmas...they are the best cookies!
Never thought to use granulated sugar before the powdered sugar, great idea! Thanks for the great explanation and video!
All your cookies are perfect, can you add more cookie recipes like ginger snaps and oatmeal raisin pls
These look so yummy! Your voice is so calming too. Definitely will try these out. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!!! Send pics when you make the cookies! I’d love to see :)

I looooved baking these as a kid for Christmas!! Stoked to see a better recipe that isn’t on the side of a chocolate cake mix box
I'm sure the chocolate cake mix version is also very delicious!!! This one probably tastes a bit more "grown up" with less sugar, depth from coffee, and more real chocolate.
Thanks for also putting the measurements in grams
I’ve never baked Christmas cookies but these sure made me want to try!
I just made these delicious cookies with your video, I am amazed at how sweet and soft they came out. Love your recipe. Thank you for sharing.❤❤❤

My mom used to make "Chocolate Krackles" like that at Xmas - so fudgey and good!
I don't always love being in the kitchen tbh... but you're inspiring me!
Brb just gonna show up at your place and start baking in your kitchen 😂😂
I made this and it was the best cookie EVER. Thanks Sheldon!
These are the prettiest crinkle cookies I've ever seen. Can't wait to try them! Thx.

Hi! I really want to try this recipe but I do not have baking soda, can I skip it? If yes, do I need to increase the amount of baking powder? Thanks!
love it looks s great. the ones i make look just like that but i add espresso powder and the recipe is a little more complicated.
Espresso is a great addition! Brings out the chocolate flavour so well.
Love this thank you
I'm so trying this! Maybe with some melted white chocolate flavoured with peppermint
Can you do a cream cheese version?! & possibly pandan & use ty 😊

if we cut down the sugar, will it affect the cookie?
I try this today and e mail you the picture

At what temperature should I heat the oven?
Can we make the cookie dough in advance and freeze it? Then we bake it straight from the freezer without thawing, possible?

If the dough is too soft, chill it in the fridge for 30 mins before trying to roll. This goes for most cookie doughs!
Is there any egg substitute options?
Perhaps, aquafaba would work?
