@darris1939 that's arguable especially when USA is based on a culture that values profits over standards and quality. Original can only stay better if they make the efforts to be better and knowing American standards and fast foods I just don't think so, research how McDonald's and KFC restaurants actually look in Japan they look more akin to restaurants than actually fast food chains and just going off japans respect for quality and food its more likely they are making a better quality product. Not really. Japan doesn't have Turkey 🍗 which is what you would eat around the holidays, and just like Halloween being imported by Westerners in Japan, a Christmas dinner was adapted by the closest thing available, which was KFC The franchise took advantage and made it a tradition. Fried chicken was just the easiest analog to a Turkey dinner, lol. Also helps when the colonel also has a close resemblance to santa clause lol. Funny a holiday ham 🍖 didn't become the norm

In japan, Christmas more like, having fun. Not about religion event, Especialy for couple. They HS in Christmas 😅
Idk why its like that, maybe one of those propaganda in the past? They hate religion/cult stuff (especially from outside of japan). Origin japanese religion is shinto/hindu. But in heisei era, more and more japanese is atheist, or doesn't even care about religion stuff. They just see some religion event for having fun, or just tradition.
I believe they doesn't really like religion because of those scam, like cult scam. Door to door sale, recruiting member, pay for some scam produck (like holly water, participate fee, etc).

They have a long history of not really liking religious stuff dating back to the Edo era but idk if it was for scam reasons though. They use to trade with Spain and Portugal, but then would eventually prohibit them from trading with them after the Christian missionaries wanted to spread Christianity. Which is why during that time, they only really traded with the Dutch since they would seek economic profits over spreading religion.
It's not exclusive to certain religions either. In the 8th century, the Emperor moved the capital from Nara to Kyoto because Buddhism became too influential in Nara and they feared political interference. Ironically though, you see quite a bit of Buddhist temples in Kyoto Japan today though which I noticed when I visited

This is only partially true, it wasn't all the doing of KFC marketing and they never claimed for it to be an American tradition. Most Japanese homes don't have large ovens to accommodate making a turkey at home, but the Japanese wanted to have an American-like Christmas dinner. That's when KFC decided to lean in heavy on the Christmas marketing and suggests their chicken as an alternative to a turkey dinner.
