@@mathewg1747 It depends on the sound you're more lean to. For a fatter smooth and more jazzy tone go for the humb, if you like better the funk side of fusion go with the single coil version. It's not a rule, but maybe it helps :) (It's always me, from my Italian account LOL)
The Charvel Pro Mod Series are great value for money guitars. I would also highly recommend the San Dimas Pro Mod Series, they´re similar to the So-Cal, but they don´t have a pickguard and instead of the S.Duncan Distortion set, they have the classic 80´s JB/59 combo.
I’m glad I got the so cal. You displayed how nice the clean tone is on it! Show’s how versatile it is. Not gunna lie though I’d like DK24 but the SoCal Tele Style with the fishman open cores are 🔥
I got two MIM So cals and they are just so amazing and great! I'm so set with them that when I go into music stores I don't even care what's on the racks anymore hahaha...unless they start making So cals with 24 frets...now we are talking!!! Awesome review thank you so the comparison!
I've got the White Pro-Mod SoCal also a black one with Ebony finger board, and a DK24 with Floyd. Like you I Love them all and struggle to tell the difference between these Mexico versions and my USA versions. I wish I had these choices when I was growing up in the 80s.
Hey, great channel. I'm glad it showed up on my feed. You are very thorough but don't spend all day on every feature. That is apparently a difficult combination for RUclipsrs to master. Rock on. Subbed.
I got a rocket red so cal in 2016 and haven't put it down since. It can do damn near everything you would want on a guitar with a floating bridge. Sounds great.
I have the exact she'll pink and it's great more versatile and I like 24 frets . They also have the HH version which will cover the more metal tones and more sustain on the bridge for soloing and is 24 frets that will be the next guitar to add to my collection...but good review here I agree the pro dk 24 is more fusion but prefer it...
Just got a Charvel pro-mod dk24 HH 2pt and I have to say it plays really nice and has some things that I really like about it. But I like my Epiphone Les Paul just a tad more for the same price
I much prefer the looks of the standard Strat body, but I can't stand the bulky steel neck plate/joint. So I bought the pink one. I've had it since Xmas (4 months), and it's fantastic! It just feels like soft butter to play. I just don't know why the So Cals can't adopt this contoured heel joint - I can't imagine anyone getting their nose out of joint of it needing to be "vintage authentic" like they do with Fender!
@@TheGuitalian I had Carpal tunnel surgery last year, and the scars that run from both wrists , thru the palm of each hand are still tender. The point of the steel block pokes me right on the sore spot on my palm whenever I go over the 12th fret. It was getting me skittish whenever soloing (which is all I really like to do). So I sold my Fender Stratocaster....and bought this pink DK24 Charvel. The contoured heel was the number one reason I chose this model.
What an excellent review. I too like both guitars. I think I'd lean towards the DK24 only for the reason that in addition to being able to play classic rock, I think it would also be better for surf music as well.
Great comparison, you got yourself a new subscriber! I have taken a look at their neck-specs and they look identical (nut width, radius, scale length). Apart from the flamed maple on the DK24, do these guitars have identical necks in terms of playability/feel?
Thanks man! They should be the same, but the overall feeling of the guitars are very different. The so cal it’s more classic and angular, while the dk24 is more smooth and modern
Voce prefere a Charvel DK24 ou a Cort X700 Duality ?? Estou em suvida entre estas duas, o que voce poderia me dizer sobre o Som de cada, shape do Braco ... ? Obrigadk
Great review! I have the DK24. It is a great guitar, but I miss the Floyd Rose. So I may sell it and get a Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder Exotic. BTW, what is the backing track at the beginning? It has a flavor of Yngwie Malmsteen 'Making Love'
I already have a charvel pro San dimas in metallic deep purple and I'm considering getting another charvel. I love the shell pink color with sss but I like HH better and I kinda want one with a regular trim. I'm thinking of getting the burgundy mist dk 24 HH with 2pt trem and I think it's a parallel switch. Everyone I ask likes the frost blue one more but there is so many guitars I want in blue. I've been debating this the 4th time I've been considering getting the schecter sun valley super shredder with the sustainiac so idk. I love my charvel though.... the so cal is just like the San dimas just with a pick guard and different pickups, so I'd like to get a dk one. I was gonna get the sss pink one there because my American strat got stolen but I might as well get another American strat than. Idk the burgundy Mist dk 24 HH with 2pt trem would kinda go with my other charvel. Plus I want a pink guitar and it's kind of pink too , not really the pink I wanted but there is no other burgundy Mist guitars I want to buy unlike the blue guitars that are everywhere. I was considering getting the burgundy Mist San dimas when I got my metallic deep purple one so yeah. I'm just taking my time debating lol I just got a ebow but I think I'd like the sustainiac pickup better so I will eventually pull the trigger on a schecter guitar lol
Have a look at the HH mahogany back, quilted maple top DK24 FR. It has all the best elements of both of these two...with the added awesomeness of that mahogany midrange. I kinda wish I'd gone for it, now.

Hey guys, which one do you fancy? The 80's Shred machine or the more modern Rock Fusion one?
Cheers!
Which is better for fusion the HSS or the HSH? I know the HSH is not in this demo but curious if you’ve played it

I got both lol I’m hoping charvel brings out a few more colours for the leftie. That or I’ll be buying another stripping it and repainting it lol
Gotta have the So-Cal!! Thank you for a great video comparison!
If I could have the So-Cal with the heel joint of the DK24 that would be paradise
YES THEY NEED THE SO CAL PICKUPS AND BRIDGE WITH THE DK24 NECK AND BODY

im in love with So Cal - its so versatile, i've tried it, and cant stop thinkin to get one soon :)
tour playing is phernominal,,,, that pink guitar sounds amazing,,,
Thanks!

My pleasure
you forgot to mention side luminlay on the gorgeous dk24...ideal to play in the dark...

So CAL !!!!!!!!!!!! 80'S rooooockkkkkksss !!!!!!! Thanks for this great video, u made my choice !!!! Very nice guitar skills by the way dude.
Thanks Quentin! The So Cal definitely rocks!
Its seems to me that the so-cal has general a sweeter sound and the DK24 is more aggressive in dirty sound and without character in clean.
for me would be the DK for sure, but the HH version

It’s probably like you said, a tradition. Personally I’m used to the strat neck joint and it does not bother me much, but in general I agree with you

I completely agree with you. I recently got a Schecter Sun Valley and after playing with it for a few days, I wish my Charvel had this too.
Yes this exactly! That heel joint on the on the so cal is actually worse than modern fender starts which gave a slight coutour

any thought on comparing dk22 and dk24? I just got Charvel Model 4 made in 1986 and am thinking about a modern Charvel guitar.

Pretty much all the song I use in my vids are written and recorded by myself, although this one was heavily inspired by Making Love

Strymon mobius :)
Harley Benton 3 !

Stainless steel frets?
nope

maybe :D

not that I remember
