In this video, I'm showing my oldest laptop, a Compaq LTE Elite 4/75C to you, which has Windows 95B installed. The laptop is equipped with an Intel i486 DX4 running at 75 MHz and 24 MB of RAM (the absolute maximum of the laptop). Even sound appears when playing a game ;)

I'm either crazy or that laptop has better black levels then today's junk!
I really love old DSTN screens. They have a weird "charm" that I just can't get with a regular TFT nowadays. I can't really explain it that well. Even though DSTNs are supposed to have poor contrast and colors compared to TFT, this one is beautiful.

and some memories from that laptop.... this is my first good laptop but i got it with the docking station and it was huge but with ISA slot and 5.25 inch drives on it! the laptop itself was little and "light" easy to transport and no power brick because it was internal!!!! excellent old school laptop and i would like to get one now.... i think mine was with a pentium 75mhz not a 486 but it's possible i'm wrong because that's really old. also, the metal can for put the internal HDD was really nice designed and the trackball i really loved that old thing... it was excellent... (i already said that right?)

Replace CPU with Intel Pentium OverDrive and install XP on it!
xp needs 64mb ram minimum
Those Laptops are usually not made to replace the processor.
With some tricks you can also install XP on 32MB RAM

saddly it not a Unlocked Processor box i can tell if it unlocked the K letter should be at the end (like Core i7 4790k)

mdaaa at me that in windows 98 se on pentium 133 mhz very longly it is loaded second myszil but you try to launch it in windows 95 and on the processor 486 mdaaa tin
Someone (not Compaq I believe) actually made a booster processor for these Compaq LTE Elite 486 machines. One cant just use any era friendly processor because Compaq had the cpu soldered on a small board with proprietary connectors to the motherboard. But if anyone has any information on the booster, please post it... Manufacture, model/part number...anything may be helpful.

Ahah, just bought a 4/75CX on eBay, waiting for it ;) It runs W95 also but I think I'll install Windows 3. No need for a hungry 95, although it will lack most of 32 bit extensions (Windows 3.11 32 bit addon is not great) but TCP/IP extension does work fine :)

Got it, works like a charm except internal floppy, I already had a look on it but no time yet to fix it, I don't know if I can boot from my external PCMCIA CD... Or from my external MAC Floppy reader :p
You're worrying about a DX4 486 running at 75MHz not being adequate for Windows 95? Man, I'm running Windows 95 on a Compaq SLT with a 20MHz 386! It's a lil' slow, but it's still usable. When the Xircom PE3 parallel port network adapter finally gets here, it'll even browse the Internet!

I kinda wanted to see the laptop itself.
I have the exact same model. (but the 4/75Cx version) I got it as present many years ago (a used one). But I never threw it away. This notebook consumes only about 7-9 watts, that's great !
I actually have one soon, its only missing a hard drive and Im having trouble finding a 2.5" 512mb that'll work with it. Do you happen to know what brand was in yours?

lame ... I recently picked up a T1600/40 at a fleamarket (80C286 @ 12/6 MHz, 1MB RAM) which actually ran Win 3.11 at a "useable" speed (solitaire was playable).

i got a 386 with win 2000 i dont know how, but when i got it it booted to windows 2000.

For DOOM 1,Yes you can run DOOM Because DOOM 1 is a MS-DOS Game and Windows 95 can run MS-DOS Games.
Yes but PC Speaker only which is why you can’t hear Windows 95 startup sound. It didn’t made startup sound on my Compaq Contura 4/25 either. Most 486 laptop have no sound card that can do Soundblaster sound.

@@Anilocin if you install it on another laptop it might still run. I think the record for XP is an 8MHz Pentium OverDrive with 20MB ram.

in fact win95 is the best( last) version runs(supports ) fast on 486 or earlier machinese. like an iphone 5c running ios 10.3.3.
