Watching from Trinidad and Tobago. I have settled with Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation. The one that is used and encouraged here is one done by the Saudi Govt, a green book. The depth of meaning and Ali's commentaries blew my mind literally.

It has to be pointed out that the commentary in that version has been heavily edited, though, just as the translation itself, to match Saudi doctrine. E.g., verses related to the attributes of God (such as 'wajh Allah') are translated literally, rather than metaphorically: Yusuf Ali had 'the presence of God', the Saudi edition has 'Allah's face'. The notes were changed accordingly and have often been shorted to exclude explanations of 'spiritual meanings'.
