Garth: most foam blocks have an indentation on one side, I put a strap on each foam block and pull them tightly under the hood inside the car. they will not move and you can leave them there for days if you are going kayaking a few times that week. they are noisy however. I kayak alone and the foam blockwswas a problem for years until I realized I could secure each one with a strap
Wow. Let us celebrate. Today is the day that the first video I watched on a subject was perfect! Terrance you explained everything clearly and left no questions!
Terrence, this was a great video. Much better done than REI and other outdoor companies that did videos - they did not explain it fully and you did. REI’s video was just like - strap it on! No explanation. Thank you very much
Wow bro I've been looking for a 2 door rack for weeks and I never found one came across your video and you save me a ton of money I got everything for 15 bucks dude you Rock man thank you
Thanks so much for posting this! My kit didn't come with directions and I had no idea what to do. You did a great job with the instructions and the video made me smile.
I’m so glad I found this video on the first try! My foam roof kit did not come with instructions and I had no idea how it all worked! This guy was the best!!!’ Thank you Terrance!
Good video thanks ! Just have to point out : The foam pieces have splits in them, which you put on top facing down - I believe these splits are for 2 more straps which is also used to first tie the foams down to the car top, just like with the kayak afterwards, to prevent the foam shifting, especially if you're going to be travelling long distance at higher speed.
Great video -- easy to follow and the method is secure. I hate seeing kayaks going down the road without tie downs at the bow and stern. Thanks, Terrance!
if you climb in the back of your car or let someone else do so then you are more than welcome to think its a door! it is actually the boot or the trunk
Carlo Pelser it's not up for debate! A hatchback is classed as a door hence this car is a 3 door car. A car with a boot instead of a hatchback isn't classed as having an extra door.
If the kayak is installed properly you can drive at highway speeds. However, it’s a good idea to work your way up (try it at 30mph and see how it goes, then try 55mph before going up to 70mph).
you will damage the car roof bro, most of the tension on the straps is focused on the center of the roof where there is no support for loads, you can see what I am saying at 3:42 your roof is being pushed inwards, you will save tens of dollars but pay hundreds to fix your concave roof.
Amr, so what you're suggesting for a coupe (or 3door) is to put the foam blocks at the very front and the rear of the roof where it meets the glass for best support correct?
This guy should do this show, in this jacket, all year round. And constantly make errors. This is comedy gold!
best kayak loading video. this guy brightened my day. I had the foam falling issues too.
Under the openings you can connect straps on to the foam blocks

Finally a video that explains it without a ton of mumbo jumbo! Simple and to the point! And a cute man giggle!
Wow. Let us celebrate. Today is the day that the first video I watched on a subject was perfect! Terrance you explained everything clearly and left no questions!
Let me get a series of instructional videos with this man. I'll watch t.f. out of it.
Terrance needs his own RUclips channel... I would definitely subscribe!
yes
Your video is the only one that actually goes over everything step by step. Thanks Terrance!
Nicely done Terrence. Loved the comedic overtone as well!

This was just what I needed! Thank you! I wasn’t clear how to use the cam straps with hooks, now I see what they’re for!
I know this video is old, but I just love everything about this video.

I’m so glad I found this video on the first try! My foam roof kit did not come with instructions and I had no idea how it all worked! This guy was the best!!!’ Thank you Terrance!

I have the same foam pads. the cut outs are for roof racks. they look like strap slots because they are crushed down
I thought the same, thx!
Great video! I wish you were my neighbor. You look like you'd be a riot to have a beer with.
He so fun to watch ... adorable and helpful
Thanks Terrance, fun and informative

Great info! You make it look so easy. I just know I'm not going to have the same luck when I get my Kayak. Wish me luck!
Great video - excellent info on securing a kayak to the roof of a vehicle and pretty funny and entertaining at the same time.
Great video -- easy to follow and the method is secure. I hate seeing kayaks going down the road without tie downs at the bow and stern. Thanks, Terrance!

Even though this video is a few years old it was informative and amusing.
Great video! I’m saving it to use when we go to pick up our first kayaks today!
Thank you Terrance. That was just what I needed to see to answer my questions.

Is that an insight? I hope so because that's a really cool car!

Thank you!
Is Terrence still working there?
can you drive your car with a kayak on top on the highway? or will it fly away
thanks bro! your A1 !
I feel like he was paid in beer to shoot this video😎
How fast can you drive with a set up like this?
If the kayak is installed properly you can drive at highway speeds. However, it’s a good idea to work your way up (try it at 30mph and see how it goes, then try 55mph before going up to 70mph).
Good video. Where do you get those pieces of foam?
They come in the tie down kits.
I got mine (foam blocks & 4 straps) as a kit, for $40 at Dicks sporting goods. 😁
This will damage your paint over time. Just a heads up.
thank you!!!
And this is why I drive a pick up lol
...and you still have to tie it down anyways
@@frankc6430 and pay double for gas^
I bet he went 20 foot and the boats goes flying
I wonder if duct tape could be substituted for a friend to hold the foam?! I'm not much of a people person! lol
