    Would you consider YAG laser vitreolysis for eye floaters or have you had it done?

    • @ishanperera1282
      @ishanperera1282 3 года назад +6

      no, well not a good treatment for younger candidates and it isn't quite effective at removing different types of floaters. I went to Dr. Geller when I was younger and he said it is difficult to remove opacities that are generally thick and vitreous clumping which in my case were causing a visual distortion when the floaters would move up and down rather than a singular point floater that would move. Also, I do have large "crystallized" looking floaters but they tended to be rather close to the retina which is obvious indication of poor candidate for this procedure.

      I wanted a treatment with the YAG Laser. Unfortunately, my Floaters are near the retina and can't be treated with the laser. Very disappointing. Got a lot of floaters after my Relex Smile.

    I had the YAG laser treatment for eye floaters and it was very successful. It was not a planned procedure but during my YAG laser capsulotomy (post cataract surgery treatment) the doctor noticed my many floaters and felt very confident he could remove some of the floaters. So after the capsulotomy he continued zapping my floaters for about 60 seconds. The results were very good to say the least. Not perfect as I still have some cloudy floaters but I would say at least 60%+ of the floaters are gone.

    Dear Martin, does the AG laser treatment for eye floaters have risks of inducing cataract in the eyes? Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you!

    • @meyetips
      @meyetips  3 года назад

      Hi Jake, sorry for late response. Cataract formation is not a risk highlighted with this procedure. Although I imagine there could be some theoretical risk of the oxidation arising at the back of the lens indirectly and this may increase the future likelihood of cataract formation.

    I have had this condition for 14 years and it is terrible, so many days ruined by the eyefloaters so much stress so much suffering depression, and the doctors only tell you to get used to it, like this is an aging process as this were a wrinkle on the face, Noooo this is something that medicine should have investigated years ago, help so many people who have had this terrible condition for years, such as EYEFLOATERS, and this it is not something you can get used to, it is something that many years ago should have been solved, and prevented so much suffering in those who suffer of this condition

    Hello doctor, I had a very severe dry eye problem for which I did a procedure called IRPL therapy (intense regulated pulse light) done 2 months back which I seem to believe was done with proper medical standard by covering the eye with small eye mask and a gel covering the eye, post procedure I started to see lot of floaters and experienced eye plain during screen time, eye pain was gone after a month but the floater just stayed still, it is so annoying as it stays in middle of my eye often showing up while I am on computer or cell phones and also causing lot of glare while I drive in the night.My question to you, is it really a floater ? If not, then what am I seeing ? Please advice..

    • @meyetips
      @meyetips  3 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear about your experience. It does sound like eye floaters that you have. If they move with your eye movements and stay in the general same spot, then it’s likely to be a floater. Get it checked out for your piece of mind.

      Hi. It’s not a procedure that we as optometrists do. However, we do refer patients and do post operative follow ups. I’ve seen just a few patients, but the treatment is not a very popular one for the reasons outlined in the videos. It’s still an option that people should be aware of.

      I had a terrible experience. I was told twice by two different doctors that once it was done, I would have no more problems with floaters. I wasn't given any education, nor told what to expect in advance. I found it to be very uncomfortable. Your eye is dilated, then the shine a bright light into your eye. While this light is being shined into your eye, they put a thick contact into your eye. As is normal, your eyes want to shut due to the light, so it was very awkward. The numbing eye drops were put in too late, so it was painful, as well. After going through all of that, it didn't work. I still have a lot of thick, spiderweb floaters, while the clinic got $10,000 dollars from my insurance company. It was painful, my feelings were hurt, and it did not work. Now I'm reading it may cause Glaucoma, which my dad suffered from. If I had not been told by two different doctors that once it was done, I would not have any more problems with it ever again, and that I didn't get any education about it in advance, I would not be so upset about this situation. PLUS, it did not work! 😔
