  • In this classical guitar lesson from Jason Vieaux (bit.ly/2Euxb8E), he offers some tips to learning the famous Spanish guitar song "Leyenda" by Isaac Albéniz and isolates some common trouble spots. He shares his own approach to shifts and other trouble spots in this piece.
There is a shift in this passage from "Leyenda" that students often find difficult. He breaks down the section to help you reach that shift with ease. Jason Vieaux recommends taking advantage of the slant of the guitar and the gravity to shift more smoothly.
Jason Vieaux practices this slow and suggests the students do the same. Even then, some of this piece can feel like a complete guess work. A tip he recalls when he faces challenges like this is to visualize a film in his mind, so that you know exactly where your fingers are supposed to be on the finger board. Then, in his mind, he plays that film slowly. By doing all those things, you can lessen the intimidation of "Leyenda".
