@@MetalPilgrim 1st time drove to Washington DC at the Capital Center for Point of Entry/ Killers and then at the Baltimore Civic Center for Screaming and NOTB with Bruce.
"Yeah, I'm Over Thinking This" 😆😆😆 I'm glad I wasn't taking a drink at that moment. I remember when all of this was happening. When that tour came to my home town. It was a huge influence on the local metal scene here. So many bands formed and there were so many places to play. You could see the split. There were the Judas Priest bands and the Iron Maiden bands. It was a glorious time. Great video. It brought back some great memories. 😊
1980s Priest and Maiden tour was the first time I heard a concert announcement. I never heard of Judas priest or Iron maiden before this announcement, but I wanted to know more. Didn't know what a judas priest or a Iron maiden was but I wanted to find out in the worst way. I keep hoping and praying that Maiden and Priest would do another tour together!!! Up the irons!!!
In KKs book he mentions how he really was pissed by maiden. He saw them as cocky and brash, mainly due to Paul's comments, and their attitude at one of Priests pre tour rehearsals. I saw them together during the NOTB tour in Huntington WV... it was the most memorial and amazing shows I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot... they ate both well beyond their prime but a pairing of the two bands would be a great closing tour for their respective careers.
As far as the Runnin Free cover art, as someone who was there at the time, you're not over-thinking it. My friends and I were thinking the same thing at the time.
I think issue with Iron Maiden/Priest Tour as much as we want to happen again, alot of Priest fans think they shouldn't support anyone as they legendary band
I saw the Iron Maiden/ Judas Priest Rainbow theatre it was a brilliant concert and a few weeks earlier I saw Ritchie Blackmore join the Gillan Band for the encore also at the Rainbow theatre
Cool to see the deeside poster I don’t live too far from there and that place has so much history with the amount of iconic bands like Rush, Rainbow and black sabbath (during the heaven and hell tour) it’s actually pretty cool
i remember a rock magazine article back in the 80's regarding a Maiden-Priest rivalry, and that Priest fans took a standoffish approach to Maiden. In 1986, Priest put out the Turbo album, featuring guitar synthesizers. Later that year, Maiden used guitar synths on their Somewhere in Time album. These days, both bands are friendly with eachother. I remember a few years ago, when Steve Harris was in a bar in England somewhere, and he was talking to Ian Hill, having some beers. They were discussing Glenn Tipton's Parkinson's disease diagnosis. In the past few years, i read that Bruce Dickinson kinda threw shade at Rob Halford's use of a teleprompter on stage. Recently, in the past week or so, Rob Halford was discussing Maiden's rightful enshrinement into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, saying he and the Priest camp are rooting for Maiden to get the votes to get in. Also, remember Rob, Bruce, and Geoff Tate doing a song onstage together. ruclips.net/video/me549HoI6gk/видео.html
I have always considered Rob being more gentleman than Bruce that somehow thinks its funny to bash a man who literally loves his career and singing style and who is vocally on the same level if not higher than he is. It saddens me lil bit to be honest but as I said Rob is a true gentleman about that "issue"
I saw JP and Maiden back in the day. Maidens 1st tour of the states was on the killers tour and Priest was in support of Point of Entry. It was amazing to see Maiden with Dianno on vocals and they were absolutely brilliant, however they came no where near to blowing Priest off the stage. I was expecting them to do just that but once JP hit the stage it was all over, the Priest put on one of if not the best show I ever saw. They did the same thing the following year when they came back this time maiden had Bruce and was supporting number of the beast and Priest was supporting Screaming for Vengeance, and once again as awesome as Maiden was Priest was just a metal juggernaut and ruled the night. It's a true shame they aren't able put on shows of the calibur these days, but none of us are getting any younger. Those early years when great bands would tour together for a could years in a row was an awesome way to see the individual growth of the bands over time. Definitely back before everyone was using backing tracks and teleprompters. Actual bands jamming which is the way it should be.
When Rob Halford was asked. Who is the greatest ever male Hard Rock/Metal vocalist. Rob Halford said Greatest ever Ronnie James Dio. I agree with Rob Halford.
I like early maiden but it’s been a long long time since they made anything I liked personally. Somehow Judas Priest continued on and in 2018 Firepower was a metal sledgehammer. Priest rules.
I saw IM open for JP twice, first at a 3,000 seat theatre in 1981 and again in 1982 at a 17,000 hockey rink. Both times in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. IM continues to be one of my favorite. In about a year and change I saw both singers. Yes t was a great pairing. I’ve seen IM a dozen times and JP about half that.
Saw the Priest Maiden your in Buffalo NY. I believe Priest was touring Screaming for Vengeance & Maiden was touring Number of the Beast. Phenomenal show. First time I saw Priest here in Buffalo was actually at a club. No one knew who they were I think there was maybe 60 or 70 people there it was the unleashed in the east tour. I used to go to this club all the time saw Triumph there to. Club owner asked me what I was doing he had a band coming in that he never heard of. I asked him who it was. He said Judas Priest...ever hear of them I said absolutely I think they had just played Donnington. That Monday local favorites & friends of mine Talas played to a packed house so it was weird. Place was kind of empty but Priest killed. Louder than anything I d heard up til then.
Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are my favorite bands ever. A tour with both of them together would be a dream come true, but I don't think it will ever happen again. Both are huge, and both would want to headline.
The Eddie in the back of the Running free artwork is missing an arm... It's his arm at the front of the image waiting to grab the unsuspecting teenager. Iron Maiden's going to get you....
My friend... I've been staring at this artwork for years and never thought of this 🤣 Honestly, always thought his left arm is just hidden behind his back! Cannot believe it
The only problem with this theory is the arm in the foreground of the picture is a right arm...Eddie has his right arm...so most likey it's not Eddie's arm...🤣
Funny story about Rob trying to seduce Paul. Quick personal story; early 90's my buddy and I are briefly working for Sabbath and Motorhead. They were alternating headlining on this tour. Lemmy used to visit the local ballet establishment at each stop. On the days that the talent was nice, and Motorhead was opening Lemmy would go back while Sabbath was on stage. On this occasion my buddy took Lemmy back to the ballet - without my knowing (before cell phones). Nobody on the regular crew wanted to take Lemmy and my buddy stepped up. First time ever meeting Lemmy. It was an outdoor gig in a park. They drive out through a crowd - in Adam's primer grey Camaro. Lemmy loves the car and is playing with the electric windows as people try to reach in. I guess Lemmy notices Adam is a bit star struck and says "Don't worry - you're alright. I'm not a puff like Halford". LOL He was joking in a kind hearted way.
Haha that sounds a lot like Lemmy. He and Rob were great friends of course, and what I love about that generation of musicians is that they could just have a laugh together and prank each other without getting upset all the time

I don’t remember if it was ‘81 or ‘82 but I had 2nd row seats for Iron Maiden/Judas Priest at a small venue in Salisbury, MD and actually met Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, Steve Harris, as well as Rob Halford. We got a tip that bands usually hung out before the show, outside of the back stage door. They were really cool and laid back and Steve Harris actually gently poked fun at one of our friends who was snapping away with an old 35MM camera…with the lens cap on 😂 ‘Hey mate, you might want to take the lens cap off” 😂 Adrian and Steve actually ran across the street to go to the mall. @@MetalPilgrim When the 1980 part of the tour came to the US the lineup was different. Here is the 1980 show I saw. Judas Priest Def Leppard Axe 5/31/1980 Sam Houston Coliseum Houston TX
I doubt the bands will tour again. Last fall Priest was at the Nassau Coliseum (Long Island, New York) on a Tuesday in October. A look at ticket availability at the smaller venue (about 14k total) showed many seats still available while the next night Maiden played at the larger UBS Arena (about 8 miles away) filling the 18K+ arena much easier. This is a similar fan base and doesn't make financial sense for either band specifically Maiden who would have to share a smaller percentage of the profit that a lesser-known band would take. Would Priest go out as the opener and sacrifice some of their stage show and set time? Those would be the other questions. This would only work if they did a festival-type thing the Stadium tour was and everyone sacrifice while adding a few other bands to play a large stadium.
Another great episode! What would even be the point of talking smack about some second-rate band? If you are going to nip at someone's heels, why not make it a band you admire greatly? In fact, why not make it one of the biggest most popular bands in the entire in your genre so that you are wasting your time?

still like point of entry(trouble shooter, hot rockin) and stained class (heroes end, white heat red hot)by judas priest.for maideNs self titled album it would be charlotte the harlot transylvania for killers it would be purgatory, genghis khan ,innocent exile.
Is it possible to have TOO MUCH METAL...???? That possibility may exist if these two mega-powerhouses were to ever tour again... I think they would have to rotate headlining positions to make it work, and it would have to happen within the next 3 years or sooner...
You know, people (real people) used to trash talk a little bit and it wasn't massively offensive or eventful because people weren't as sensitive and breakable as they are now. Being a little abrasive was normal.
Not really sure how I feel about a Iron Maiden/Judas Priest tour at this point. First of all Maiden would be the headliner no questions asked. Maiden have objectively been bigger than Priest since 1999 when they reunited with Bruce. It's been this way since Glenn and KK were still in Priest. And that's another thing, 2 of the 3 classic (note I didn't say original) members are gone. Halford/Hill are an experiment of diminishing returns at this point. Whereas all the Piece of Mind classic members + Janick are in Maiden, so they have the higher power ranking. Because Priest would have a shorter set, I think there would just be too much complaining about all of the classic songs left out.
Will it happen again... No I don't think so, simply because Maiden would be headliners, so can't see Priest wanting to be support. Besides, not all of the bands kids have been used as support acts yet😂😂😂
KK didn't like Paul's statement about Maiden attempting to blow them off the stage - because he knew Maiden had better guitarists, a better bass player and a better drummer & knew it would happen
Not a better bass player, or lead guitarist. I love Dave and Adrian but Glen Tipton topped all of them. (not now obviously). KK was/is not very good compared to the rest of them (Sorry KK, you still kick ass) Ian hill plays soulful and has space to let the guitars and Robs voice shine. Ian CAN and HAS played incredible blues rock in the very early 70's. Listen to their demo tape, Ian is a highly underrated bass player. Steve Harris is good but he on the other hand is overrated. Its the same two finger gall-up with a small run here and there, I love both bands but think Priest has the edge. Lets here the hate! lol
@@ChazinFl1 I dont know who you are watching but KK was as good as Tipton but Tipton became better after about 85 but it was unfortunately on a lot of uneven albums. But up through Defenders they were both about the same. And in my eyes better than the Maiden guys. That said I am a fan of them all and in the long run all this doesn't matter. But KK did a lot of good work. The solo chart on Defenders of the Faith album show they both did excellent work on that album.
Priest, Accept, Def Leppard 1981 and Priest, Annihilator, Pantera 1991 were the much better tours than with Maide. Even the 1980 Priest, Saxon tour was better.
When Iron Maiden first came out, they were like a young virtuoso Boxer, who is knocking everyone out and just beating everyone up, they were like a young hungry boxer, and I have respect for Judas Priests they have certainly put Heavy Metal on the Map, but I think Iron Maiden have overtaken them since 1988
This video should be titled: Blame It on K.K. Only in Metal Pilgrim's opposite universe is it cool and fun for everyone for the invited opening act to say they're going to blow the headlining act off the stage. Especially when Di'Anno, the guy who said it, copped his whole leather & studs image and stage mannerisms from Halford. And by the way, quoting anything Halford in the last 20 years doesn't support your weird opinion. Nice try. As Halford is a gentleman and doesn't want to stir up past nastiness. He'll say whatever it takes to re-calm the waters. Zelensky levels of play-acting and BS: 7:53 to 11:50
Judas is always best. Maiden was best with Paul Dianno, after that Eddie maked them good only , Bruce is not a good Singer, and it was decennium multi…last time a good record🤘

Greem?
paul diano said in melody maker that punk rock was just metal played badly very soon after he was sacked......hmmmm
No, more like when Iron Maiden OPENED for Judas Priest
Norway..Knows me?..Love?
1.Iron Maiden 2.Judas Priest 3.Metallica 4.AC⚡DC 5.Black Sabbath
Iron maiden is my religion. Judith is my priest!
Will it happen again... No I don't think so, simply because Maiden would be headliners, so can't see Priest wanting to be support. Besides, not all of the bands kids have been used as support acts yet😂😂😂
Няма шанс за ново турне заедно.Как си представяте която и от двете групи да преглътне егото си да не водеща.
Judes Priest and Iron Maiden tour would be fuckin osome but how would open the show
They could rotate ;)
In KK's book he writes about how incensed he was at Maiden for.your cockiness and disrespect on that tour.
It went way beyond one misplaced comment.
Priest was more mainstream metal. Maiden was punk metal, more riffy and unpredictable.
J'espere !
KK was/is not very good compared to the rest of them (Sorry KK, you still kick ass)
Ian hill plays soulful and has space to let the guitars and Robs voice shine.
Adrian Smith wasn’t the guitarist at this concert it was Dennis Stratton
Word.
@@ChazinFl1 The superiority of Steve is not even questionnable. The bass line in their first two album top everything Ian can do
Have only seen Priest many times, first time back in early 80's. Have never had interest in Maiden. They have some good songs..but nope! Sorry.....
Priest, Accept, Def Leppard 1981 and Priest, Annihilator, Pantera 1991 were the much better tours than with Maide. Even the 1980 Priest, Saxon tour was better.
Black Sabbath was heavy. Judas Priest made metal. Iron Maiden refined all of it to a surgical instrument of monumental proportions. .
maiden is noodley. Metal noodles
Saw the 1980 show at the Palladium in NYC w/Dianno and the next year also at Palladium with the first tour with Bruce
Zelensky levels of play-acting and BS: 7:53 to 11:50
Iron Maiden don't need Judas Priest to sell more tickets.
I love both bands but iron maiden is better in my personal opinion
😵👋🏻
12:48 - група Текст титрів грає пісню "Текст титрів". Конкуренти Iron Maiden?
Хаха дякую, завтикав щось
KK tends to be a bit of a drama queen.
Judas is always best. Maiden was best with Paul Dianno, after that Eddie maked them good only , Bruce is not a good Singer, and it was decennium multi…last time a good record🤘
