    Thanks for the heads-up, this was on my list for a long time and will feature in one of my videos shortly.
    BTW I suspect that tiny fiddle on the piano leads a secret life and shifts positions overnight when nobody's looking...

      Haha @OctaveObsessions! What a great image! :) That tiny fiddle is my pochette fiddle (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pochette_(musical_instrument)) -- they're such delightfully strange little things, and lots of fun to play. I wish it would do some chores for me instead of just playing around when no one's looking....! Then **I** could have more tune-playing time!

    The way I learn is play on piano record it play back with hornpipe lilt at 69 crochet beat so can be 100 per cent on left hand notes then gradually speeding it up memorise it complete to try achieve the fluid flow of the rhythm from the start. As my memory concentration is limited I do it for not too long each day. Hopefully by the end of the week I will reached the right speed . I find A major a better key for string crossing. G major takes more work barring the 3rd on d and a strong. Anyway different approach although I find your tutorial easy to play along with. Adam Beanstock

      Awesome @adam beanstock -- go for it! That's a cool tune-learning process you've devised there. So fun how each player develops their own system for learning tunes by ear over time! Sounds like you've got a good one working for you! :)

    Mari, do you still post the sheet music for your tune of the month.....I am looking for the Foxhunters

    • @mariblackmusic
      @mariblackmusic  3 года назад

      Hi @Steven Raichelson -- I don't actually post sheet music for the Tune of the Month publicly (largely because this video series is all about getting better at learning these awesome tunes by ear!), but I do send it out as a little "bonus feature" for folks subscribed to my email newsletter (www.mariblack.com/newsletter.html). If you weren't subscribed at the time this video came out, you missed my hand-written version, but there are many great resources for finding sheetmusic for fiddle tunes online, including www.TheSession.org, tunearch.org/wiki/TTA (the Traditional Tune Archive), and others. Hope that helps! :)
