It's very easy to avoid by flying over Saudi Arabia. RoE governs all. And it's not remotely the same system. Navy uses Aegis, not Patriot. Aegis is about a decade behind the latest Patriot.
Aegis relies on Standard Missile and CIWS as the last resort. C-RAM, the land equivalent, is not present at all in Ukraine.
That aside, Aegis has destroyed hypersonic(ballistic terminal phase) missile since the 90's.
Just like the Moskva, when a defense system fails, first ask if it was on and looking where the threat was.

The USA spends $2,000 bn in Afghanistan and gains nothing.
The USA spends $100 bn in Ukraine and not only stops the russian invasion, but gets rid of the russian reserves (3000+ russian tanks lost, dozens of planes, soviet legacy reserves visually emptying at a drastic rate, etc... etc...).
Basically, for a 20th of the cost of Afghanistan, the USA is getting rid of the threat of one of its main opponent that defied the USA with the 2021 ultimatum, while reinforcing its network of alliances. And that's before counting the revenues from europeans buying so much more US weapons now.
Probably the cheapest way imaginable the USA could have had to militarily defeat Russia ;p.

Примерно то же самое было и в карибский кризис, когда Кеннеди показали анализ ядерного противостояния, где США теряла от 20 до 50% своего населения и городов, что тоже подтолкнуло к дипломатическому решению. И когда автор говорит, что страны НАТО подумают и примут правильное решение, то я, честно говоря, не уверен, ведь они много раз могли подумать, оценить и проанализировать, но каждый раз только усиливали эскалацию. И на данный момент я не вижу на западе политиков уровня Черчилля или Кеннеди, а как говорил Эйнштейн: «Есть только две бесконечные вещи: Вселенная и человеческая глупость. Dima is wront about the drone video. The bullets weren't secondary explosions, it were the attempt of Russian soldiers to shot down the drone. They managed to do it in the end of the video. Also I wouldn't say that the trenches are completely destroyed after a fire. The trenches aren't made of wood. Maybe the coverage is destroyed, but not the trench itself.
Yes it was very clearly fire from small arms with tracers included. The fire looks impressive but it looked like it did not even ignite the trees that it touched? At least this one poured impressive fire, unlike the last video with the sad sad "sparkler" drone.

If it was a hypersonic missile the West seriously needs to rethink its approach as many Western interests could be targeted by Russian/Iranian/North Korean proxies globally.
Western officials and media are stuck in their own fib that such weapons aren't directly controlled by the supplier's technicians and guidance networks. That map of proposed targets, in truth, is asking them to set those targets because the proxy can't actually do this itself. Maybe they have some proxy national ceremonially turn the key, just to say "they launched it themselves".
All those frigates and destroyers in the Red Sea really need to think about staying in that area.

If I'm not mistaken, the footage of the Ukrainian fire dragon drone shows it crashing at the end. Maybe it's an expendable, designed to crash but I can't see why it would be. It can be seen to be hit by Russian fire immediately before crashing.

The houthis have shot a hypersonic ballistic missile, not the hypersonic cruise missile only the russians use. Iran has had this technology for many years and it is not their most advanced. Iranian missiles have their own design, very different from russian ones and this houthi missile is clearly an iranian design.

Thank you Dima. Just one precision: ballistic missiles are not called hypersonic usually - almost all of them fly at hypersonic speed. One requires high maneuverability capacities to call a missile "hypersonic". At least that used to be the case. Now for propaganda reasons everyone calls ballistic missiles "hypersonic". For instance Iskander or LORA missiles fly at mach 6, which is hypersonic, but they are not called that, because they are not exceptionally hard to intercept for modern AD - it is perhaps 70% interception rate vs a battery of S-300 in typical conditions, but it's highly dependent on circumstances. Most tactical and all strategic ballistic missiles fly at hypersonic speeds, but they are not called hypersonic. But now i think people should understand that there is nothing special anymore about "hypersonic missiles" if we call hypersonic basically all ballistic missiles.

Ballistic missiles fly at hypersonic speed in the phase of their flight that traverses the near vacuum of space. That is completely different from missiles like the Kinzhal that achieve hypersonic speed in the atmosphere. That is what makes them special, as well as the fact that they can dodge around to avoid ABMs.

To begin no ballistic missile ever leaves the atmosphere in the sense including the exosphere and thermosphere, ICBM may reach 4000-5000km altitude, but this is still considered the atmosphere in planetary science. Now if we take the Karman line - 100km altitude - as the limit of outer space short-range ballistic missiles like the Iskander almost never pass this altitude - the Iskander may reach 125km at most, but when fired on actual targets it will not pass 100km. Ballistic missiles reach peak velocity at the end of the boost phase - in the first 15% of their flight, so whilst still ascending. Drag makes a difference in the last 5-10% of flight time, it will slow down the missile to about its apogee velocity. In the case of an Iskander or a Scud-C this is 1500m/s, about Mach 4.4, the other factor is gravity. In general impact velocity is about the same as apogee velocity. If the target is near the missile will not even reach peak velocity, so if that theoretical peak is just above hypersonic then the missile may never reach hypersonic speed. The discussion here is about capacities. If an iskander is fired to its operational range it will be hypersonic for over 70% (or say 60%, as i dont have precise data) of its flight, and since its peak altitude is about 100km, the Karman line, all the time it spends at hypersonic speed is within the atmosphere. Regarding the Kh47M2, Kinzhal, it is an air-launched quasi-ballistic missile, that means its trajectory is mostly ballistic but with additional maneuverability, it reaches Mach 10 after boost phase thanks to the initial launch velocity of MiG31 and the altitude of its launch. I never claimed the Kinzhal is not faster than a TBM like Iskander, it is. But the Iskander already has hypersonic velocity for over 60% of its flight, all of which within the atmosphere. The Iskander-M is also a quasi-ballistic missile, that is it can maneuver to some extent to avoid interception; of course neither of us has detailed specifications of Kinzhal and Iskander, which are classified, and certainly there are constant updates on their software, which improves their maneuvering, so we cannot precisely compare their capacities. I recommend readers check some velocity profiles for ballistic missiles, to get an idea of the precise velocity as function of time for standard ballistic missiles. The shape is like a hand-drawn M. If we want to calculate precise velocities and percentage of flight above and below the Karman line that is hypersonic a youtube comment is not the right place.
