Absolutely enjoyed watching you cut these gems. Even as small as they are they definitely have value and to some folks like myself who could never afford the 5 or 10 k stones, these little gems offer us a reach to own small but attainable beauty. Thank you for teaching us how to cut even the smaller gems. The knowledge you are passing on to people is literally priceless.
Justin, I know I can speak for everyone by saying how sorry we are that persons with sick, twisted minds tried to hijack your 'live' opal polishing session. You are a joy to watch and an inspiration to aspiring lapidarians. DON'T give up on us and your great idea of teaching online. Blessings!
When you mentioned using the oils from your face it reminded me of something I learned many years ago back when I still had oily skin, but was in my early 30's thereabouts. The best oil to use to keep from developing wrinkles around your eyes is the oil from your nose or t-zone. Did it for most of my life and I have few lines around my eyes as proof that it works. As an older lady (profile pic shown is of my husband btw!), I no longer produce much oil. That oily skin that once was the bane of my existence actually kept me looking young into my early 50's. In my family the women all look 20 something until they turn 50 then bam! you're old. I had a best friend that I grew up with that was that perfect girl with no oily skin or zits marring her beautiful skin. I was invisible to boys when around her. Later in life we met up and went for a drink. I think we were in our late 30's and we sat down to order and I got carded and she didn't...her remark? "Gee that one year (she is almost a year older than I am), sure makes a difference!" Speechless...It was finally my turn to be the pretty one that turned heads and it was one of the highlights of my life for sure! She is still a beauty in my eyes.
Justin, Thank you for addressing the smaller stones. As many of us get into this, we all have to start small before making the larger investments. Your tips and tricks help all of us to be successful in our passion of opals. You're the greatest!!!
What came to me when I saw this video is that with all the massive, rare and wildly expensive opals you've done in your life, that your attention to detail and great care are given to each stone, no matter the size. As an artist, (i paint and sculpt), that your respect and love for your craft sets you apart. This was a great video.
I can't afford opal but I know I love it a great deal more then any diamond I've ever seen. Truly a wonderful gemstone. Hope you continue sharing your craft with us.
Beautiful stones. I like the dark crystal with the green and red flashes best. The dreamtime sequence was really cool. Cutting Ethiopian opal..... forget about it. Opal fishing lures....great idea! Love your work. Be safe. Much love from California 💎
Just finished building my own machine, after day one i have little nail left and a fair few cuts but its amazing! Got some really useful info from this video, would love to see you working with lower quality opal/making the most of a bad parcel :)
Hey Justin I have purchased from you guys my first lot of beginners stones from and have hand ground only so far. I have bit the bullet and ordered a cabbing machine and was very happy to see you put this you tube up, because i figure all my stones are going to be small to start with until I get more experience. I just want to say thanks for your learners videos I am excited to start my journey. Keep up the great work. Phil
We don’t have opal in my country nor we get them in the market. I have fallen in love with the channel and opal. I learn something new every time I watch you. Maybe you can have an small vocational institution where you teach adults how to cut stones 🥰 and set in Jewellery.
Thank you for these videos I've watched this one several times. I am about 2 months into cutting and due to budget most of my stones turn out 1 CT and under. I plan to start selling I can not wait to get to be more confident and tackle the big beautiful ones you stun me with so often.
Justin I am very excited I just bought a polish and grinding machine for gems I polish and shape quarts opal flurite almost all minerals jade etc. I bought a 18 carat opal and. A 16carat opal all with beautiful color play and dark background
Most of us can only afford to get hold of parcels of small rough so it gives us heart to see you working on them too. :) Mind you, my best piece of blue/green black was found hidden inside a chunk of black potch I was practicing on. (surprised the hell out of me when it showed itself)
Tell yr bf that it aunt hard just buy from Justin at Blackopal direct and shape the stone himself and give it to you. If your bf have trouble ask Justin.
@@cacogenicist go and buy dremel , sanding block, diamind block different grits thats what I did by going to Bunnjngs and I got all cut unless I'm lazy then meh.
Justin, that is a helpful video.Great information! Thankyou for your time making these for us.It makes my day to get the notifications when you upload. God Bless Ya'll! Stay safe and virus free! I heard y'all have been having a great time with self quarantine. Seems y'all have that viruses' number! Until later...Thomas
Hi from New Brunswick Canada! This part of the world's gone friggin pear shaped. Really and truly, the arse is about to fall out 'er. The downstairs neighbours (USA) are protesting and some are being total knobheads. There was tragedy nextdoor in Nova Scotia. A psycho went on a rampage, 17 dead including 1 RCMP, she was a mum. Sh!t.......sorry for all the language but damn........... This life is short, so I'm going to buy an opal! They are sheer beauty and I've wanted one but it's always been "someday". I see how much you love the opals and I believe they shine even brighter because of that. Thanks, Justin, it will take me a day to find the right one but I'll contact you soon.
Because of the recent livestream troll, you might want to have moderators to block any spam accounts during live streams. Unfortunately, people like that exist on the internet, but we can't let them ruin the fun. Hope the streams will continue! We all love your channel!
Thank you I will have Melinda moderate next time. And I have added every bad word I can think of in the forbidden list so it blocks words that might be said by trolls
Love your videos and stones! I would also love to see how you photograph them and under what type of lighting. Hope you might consider a video on this.
Very informative. I need to get a cab machine but they are so expensive for a good one. It is fun watching you work those and informative too. Havagudun my friend.

I love that last one - the cushion-shaped one. It has the color I love... I would pay far more than a hundred dollars for that and set it in a nice dainty ring.
I wish I had a room full of opals! They r so beautiful and I only have 1 that I won from another great opal channel... its little but beautiful but I find myself wanting a bigger one to gaze at!
I really enjoy your content I too have opal fever but I cant help but notice your opals seem to have a bit of a premium compared to other thunder ridge opal suppliers
Hey Justin love ur videos. Can you make one or do u have one on how to pick a stone for an engagement ring? Also, what kind of ring is best to protect an opal/ if opals r ok for engagement rings? Thanks
That first one on the wheel was a striking little gem! (Edit: Wrote that before we got to the end of the video -- it's the flat black one.) It's funny how that fuel is known only by the adulterant introduced to make it poisonous and not by its main component -- which won't stop anyone really desperate from drinking it anyway.
Can you please show how you get a dop stick ready please. I've got some wax on the way and I know it's probably stupid but I've got no idea how you get it from the wax block onto the dowel 😍
Hahaha Dork you should have used the last scooter shot as the intro, and just remembered we are getting older things hurt a bit more for a bit longer...lol cheers Justin
Well recently I sanded down my fingers I said ooh botheration then I got a nice sharp piece of rock right under the fingernail the opal turned out good though Glad you said that’s part of opal work
I'm starting to practice with ethipian opal at the moment at home, but next week it's tge bug moment I'm getting a small parcel of Australian black opal to... let's see how it goes 😅
were can I get a cutting wheel like yours I carnt find 1 anywhere thanks. love your videos and will be buying rough opal of your website soon carnt wait to get started wat a job am jealous 👍
Hello Justin, when cutting small stones is there any certain dimensions you aim for? Or just whatever the stone gives? And then make sure your edges are good despite the shape/size? Thanks.

Thank you justin for another great show. Love them small stones. Thats what im after justin. I will be in touch for some soon.💯
Trying to convince my boyfriend to buy me an opal engagement ring. 😂 I have opal fever!
I gave my wife a crystal opal engagement ring 11 years ago....so much better than a diamond in my opinion. Though hard to replace if lost.
Careful. Next thing you know you'll be online pricing lapidary machines. :-)
The stuff is more contagious than gold.

Hi, I love your videos!! Have you explained in any video how to and what to think about when you do the settingedge?
Yes many tines
I really enjoy your content I too have opal fever but I cant help but notice your opals seem to have a bit of a premium compared to other thunder ridge opal suppliers
Diamond cutters in New York use different type of grinder, the wheel spins on it side and the you have more control.
This is AMAZING
Cheers Justin ,regards Brian,😀
Hey Justin, could you do a high domed crystal opal sometime. I know it is harder to find those larger stones. Thanks Bill
Hello from the United States! Love the videos! Quick question, what grit are those wheels?
Hey Justin love ur videos. Can you make one or do u have one on how to pick a stone for an engagement ring? Also, what kind of ring is best to protect an opal/ if opals r ok for engagement rings? Thanks

Just a question, can black opal be broken up for an inlay on a ring? Or does breaking it up just ruin it? Thanks, love the channel!
I would never break it up. It’s a waste
@@blackopaldirect Fair enough, just wondering if it's technically possible?

I have a flat lap machine, it was around $400 not as nice as Justin's but much better than using a knife hone and sand paper
Hello Justin, when cutting small stones is there any certain dimensions you aim for? Or just whatever the stone gives? And then make sure your edges are good despite the shape/size? Thanks.
doesn't matter about the sizes but if you wanted you could calibrate them
