I’m not sure what the processes are for people holding law licenses. Still, I could guess each state periodically checks the judicial system, and probably other systems, to ensure people convicted of a crime are not practicing as lawyers in their jurisdictions. It could also be rightly assumed people who are judges, police officers, etc must report if they have any pending cases or else they could lose their jobs.

Also pleading guilty and taking a plea deal is the smart thing to do when you are actually guilty and they have enough evidence to throw the book at you.
