Abu works better in the animated sense. These work a lot better on stage where everything is spread out and there is room to dance. Abu is able to work in tight quarters. Aladdin would also probably seem like a needy teenager if he had these guys.

Shachar Har-Shuv Abu the monkey got replaced by Aladdin's 3 friends, who largely sing this song. This happens right after Jasmine sneaks out of the palace and where she first meets Aladdin...the slower parts with no lyrics are where she arrives at the marketplace and then when Aladdin sees her.
