The density of this "tale" and the alternance between the cello and the piano is mesmerizing. The most surprising point - not common in this composer's work - id the stylistic disruption (in spite of some harmonic continuity) in the last quarter of the work, without any "go back". The rendering is very intense. Thx for posting.
What an exquisite work! Surprisingly close in some respects to Gabriel Fauré - the same surprising enharmonic modulations, the eccentric notation of accidentals, and a similar effortless, elegant charm.
Très belle musique fort bien jouée dans l'ensemble mais..il est vraiment dommage que les pizz du violoncelle interviennent systématiquement un temps trop tôt au début de la pièce.

Absolutely incredible piece, a hidden gem!
As the next "sam", I also say it a hidden gem!
Janacek was a genius ❤

Harry Mulisch brought me here :)
Leos Janacek (1854 - 1928) ; he didn't die at age 106.
1928 - 1854 = 74

You thinking of Leo Ornstein?
@@weeblord6848 Never did I think the day would come where I would see twitchspeak on a Janacek video... The world is weird man.
It'd sound like a Studio Ghibli Movie
Cause Joe and Janacek shared similar harmonic language sometimes
