    Batu Ferringhi's beautiful. I try to go there every time I'm up from KL. U should try the Ferringhi Garden restaurant. Quite honestly the food is fine but not spectacular. But it ranks as one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to. Definitely worth visiting. Go at night to savour the ambience.

    Goodness, you're both finally on my island home. Great!!!. So happy that you're enjoying it. Make a trip to Balik Pulau. Literally, means back of the island. You'll see a totally different part of the island, very rustic but scenic. Slower pace of life but still typically Penang, also some great food there. Enjoy!!!

    Maybe you should rent a scooter and do a round island trip, taking it slow with many stops around the island, fresh water pool at Titi Kerawang which is a little futher up from the spice garden... some town villages of Balik Pulau, Teluk Kumbar and some vlllages around the north part...don't worry you won't get lost if you stick to the coast or ask ppl the way, you'll land back in Batu Ferringi in the evening at a slow pace. We used to rid scooter around the island when we were teenager without stop in two hours. So a day would really be enough for you if you start earlier in the morning with a few stops. Have fun!!

      @@snailtravelers And when you reach Balik Pulau, you can also ask the people around there...there is is another route that cuts across the hill to the other side of the island www.penang-traveltips.com/balik-pulau-hill-road.htm#:~:text=Balik%20Pulau%20Hill%20Road%20is,Balik%20Pulau%20with%20Teluk%20Kumbar.&text=The%20upgrading%20of%20the%20Balik,minutes%20to%20just%2015%20minutes. but if you notice the map, there is also another route where you can cut across to Paya Terubong then out to the biggest temple in Malaysia (Kek Lok SI Temple) instead of going thru the coastal road all the way. Have fun!! Don't worry you won't get lost. Penangites are very helpful, just ask direction if you feel you are lost.

    Hello ST. I'm doing lots of virtual recon of the Island to try to participate in the MM2H and retire at some point. I like the tour of the apartment in GT, but I was curious as to how your accommodations are in BF? I could tell that you were at Miami Beach, and near10 Island Resort. My wife and I have our eye on that area, away from the denser GT area.
    Is your rent as fantastic as it was in GT?
    Also, now that you are in BF, are you scootering around? I don't know how people commute even to the neighboring Tanjong Takong area safely on bicycle. The shoulder on road #6 leaves almost no room for pedestrians either.

    • @snailtravelers
      @snailtravelers  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. We too are interested in MM2H and are waiting to know the new requirements that are supposed to be determined by the end of the year. The Miami area is definitely quieter than George Town, and we are really enjoying it here. But it is more isolating, and there are no stores or business we can walk to from here. We don't want to drive so we take the bus to get to the grocery stores and restaurants; the buses are very cheap and convenient. We are paying around $560 per month for our apartment. We're renting through Airbnb right now, but if we ever want a longer term rental we would probably look through a website like iProperty to avoid the Airbnb fees.

    Love your videos and Malaysia. Your insurance back in the U.S. sounds terrible. I’m in the SF Bay Area. I have Kaiser HMO from my employer. Annual checkup is free. Other visits co pays are $20. Appointment usually is within a few days. Generic drugs starts at $5. My generic Lipitor for 100 days is only $10. My sister had a near death medical emergency last year. Her medical bill was way over $2 million. She only had to pay about $500. She has insurance from her husband’s employer and Medicare (she’s a kidney patient on dialysis so Medicare kicked in for her already). I have to say the U.S. has some of the best healthcare quality, but you need to have good insurance. Or you are screwed.
