@@trevorD1156 I think that's a bit harsh - it's obvious once you know but I've never seen Yamaha explain it themselves. And the inlays. Subtle but distinctive so you can easily tell it's Yamaha from just a glimpse of the controls or the fingerboard. And building a bit of brand identity across different guitar models and the BB bass line as well is clever.

Love Yamaha. At whatever prices point, they provide high quality instruments. Have a had my eye on a 612 for a long time so very keen to see how these compare.

@sandoncrowder7839 It's pretty amazing how nice they are for the price. I replaced the volume and tone for CTS pots and a cap that rolls off treble very quickly for the single coils and that's it. Just picked it up again today and it's still in tune. Love it.
@@Mahdcat what shocked me was how nice the neck feels, I don't typically like gloss necks but it felt so good and easy to play. The old 912 and 1012 Pacificas were lovely guitars. Mike Stern had a sig one if I remember rightly. They sat alongside the old RGZ, a yellow version of which I seem to recall was gifted to Chappers as a nostalgia trip. Had a friend who sword by his Candy Apple red SE350 back in the day. Great instruments from a great company.
They look good but there is such a saturated market now that I’d be hesitant to drop £2k or even £1100 when they do essentially the same thing as others; certainly no better. Hard to see an advantage of these over Schecter Nick Johnston. And for 2k I’d rather save some extra and get an S style from a boutique builder. I love Yamaha but for me this is a pass.
I think Yamaha are one of the most underrated guitar brands out there. You'd be hard pressed to find another manufacturer that offers you more value for your money. The quality of their guitars and their attention to detail are excellent. I own two Pacificas, a 112 and a 311, and I love playing them. Though I do dream of one day owning a "Made in Japan" model! But first, I need to get a little better on the guitar, and I need to save up enough money.
One of the guitars that Matthew Bellamy used at the start of his career, before he had his own Manson guitars, was a Yamaha Pacifica on which he had changed the pickups.
It's funny that a musical instrument shop like 'Andertons Music Co' dœsn't know the history of brands and models. The Yamaha Pacifica line when initially released in 1990 WERE high-end guitars for pros! They endorsed guitar virtuoso Michael Lee Firkins (and later on Mike Stern) and made the Pacifica guitars that were made in the USA with a price range from 699$ to 2599$! They had 3 tremolo bridge options: vintage (like Fender classic tremolo bridges), Floyd Rose, and Wilkinson. The fingerboard at that time was already compound radius, and the guitars came with Seymour Duncan pickups and/or Di Marzio pickups. The neck joint was a patented one (a bit like the Washburn N4 Nuno Bettencourt signature that came out around the same year) and there were absolutely no heel (!!!) going in the way of the left hand to access the high notes on the fingerboard that could have up to 24 frets depending on the models. So the title of this video makes me smile a bit...
I learned on a Pacifica 112. Had it in the natural wood finish as it kinda looked like a Washburn N4 and I didn't have N4 money when I was 14. Still got it and love it. It's the best strat shape imho. has a little more edge.

I'd love to see Yamaha bring back the RGX range from the late 80s. I had a purple 603s that was the prettiest purple colour ever. Yeah, they were "hair metal" guitars, but they were quality!
Love you guys and will forever be a fan but that new studio color scheme is very hard on the eyes. No more warm comfort feel and too much contrast. It's literally hurting my eyes watching. Feels suited for heavy metal maybe.
Aw What you start play at around 22 is soo sweet: thank you guys (reminding me of some purple rain kinda iteration: am I right?) Me not kidding I bought my own standard plus straight away😉
It's pretty incredible these are coming standard to Gotoh locking tuners now. I'll never own one but this was the first guitar I played on back in 2004 in music class. The next year I got my first guitar (a surprisingly good First Act electric guitar). 19 years later I'm still playing thanks to the Pacifica being such a beginner friendly and nice guitar to play on.
I'm so exited for these to get into my local music store. Pacifica 611/12 were always an amazing value for money guitars to me, just obliterating almost everything in their price point, so I've got a lot of faith in these ones. Although, color selection is very questionable, i gotta say. And it would've been nice to see roasted maple necks too.
If it's anywhere near the quality of the MIJ earliest Pacificas (Rich Lasner designed 900 series and up), then they will have brought back the original concept of Pacificas from the L.A. custom shop (called the Yamaha guitar development in California). Those were meant at the time to cater to the pros and compete with the best on the market. They were pricey too. A 1412 in 1990 was around $2,000.(in today's money $4,000 or $5,000)
How long before Lee’s list of declared interests last longer than the rest of the video? 😂only joking captain, I think what you all do is great and anyone getting involved with designing or backing new guitar products is helping keep the industry going
How can these two not know that "12" at the end of the model number refers to the pups configuration. 12: one Humbucker and two singles. 20: two Humbuckers. 02: two singles (typically P90s) and the rare and fabulous mij 904: four singles with the bridge pup being two separate single coils arranged like a Humbucker but different.
They look very nice, except for the cut-down pickguard: the single straight line jars with the otherwise curvy aesthetic, and worse, it looks like the plastic had become cracked, so your dad fixed it by cutting it off nice and neat. I'd prefer either for it to cover the controls, or for that straight line to be curved. Or, no pickguard at all.
I hope you are right. Wish nothing but the best for these guys. Maybe it is just my aging eyes. Seemed to be more energy in the previous set; it had a lighter and more open feel to me. Then again, as both a video maker and woodworker, I do have some definite bias when it comes to sets and stains. All the best to the team. Hope the new set leads to new and better success.
Funnily, there has been a Pacifica with an almost identical spec to the pro plus model which you can usually pick up pretty cheaply (and that does really sound like a Strat) - the PAC904. MIJ, compound radius Warmoth neck. 2 point trem. Split bridge pickup. Contoured heel. Locking tuners (Sperzels) etc..
Pete’s lookin handsome I don’t think it’s a guitar I’d call number 1, but it’d be handy to have hanging around in the studio for different tones. Sounds way too scooped to me. Humbucker sounds awesome though. Strats kinda have a bitey midrange imo
I have a Yamaha Revstar standard 2023 modesty priced at, I think £649.. but £1000 For a Pacifica ?. I brought a Cort Raw edition great guitar. The same type of spec for half the price.. Sorry yamaha to expensive. Needs to be more competitive on the price as i find the £500 to £1000 price point to be most competitive these days. Great Review as always tho guys 😊
I own 2 Revstar Standards, P90s and 'buckers. Both awesome. The RSS02T is my favorite electric. Considered the MIJ version but could not see anywhere close to $1000 USD difference to justify it. OTOH I own a MIJ Gretsch Jet Players Ed. and it far surpasses the G5xxx models in the Electromatic line, I have owned them too. They did not last long. The MIJ Jet is a lifetime guitar. Beautiful, smooth, powerful, clear and articulate with DeArmond DynaSonic single coils. Classic Gretsch tone.

I was gona get the Epi Jerry Cantell but this changed my mind 🤔
Woah, Lee channelling Beck!
I liked more The blue one...look and sound
Beautiful guitars, brutal rug.
Pete’s lookin handsome
I don’t think it’s a guitar I’d call number 1, but it’d be handy to have hanging around in the studio for different tones. Sounds way too scooped to me. Humbucker sounds awesome though. Strats kinda have a bitey midrange imo
The dark colors remind me of the early lower quality videos
Is it possible to take that cap of the humbucker?
Man bin that rug! Thats hellish! Amazon do some great ones that size by the way
Do the guitars come out of factory with the bridge floating or is it flat to body? Thank you
I have a Yamaha Revstar standard 2023 modesty priced at, I think £649.. but £1000 For a Pacifica ?.
What do you guys think of the SG1820? Have you reviewed it?
Nice Job Bro THX
Great guitars
Those are a bit pricey.
Nice but at the price why not just go fender?
@@BkBk-gy6vr because the resale value is terrible on yamaha. 50% it's original value as soon as you step out the door. Fender hold their value much better.
If it only had the cool 1212 and1221 neck inlays !
New rug is very nice. Get use to it people.
Careful with "Ash Pink" :D :D
I have heavily modded 112J Pacifica that is better than all my Fenders
I think my life dream is slowly morphing into just becoming a Yamaha featured artist so I can have ALL their gear...
Highs and lows sounds are so balanced it hurts.
Rumours have it the guy who redesigned the pickguard came from Yamaha‘s chainsaw department.
The new rug is just too much ..hahaa
Is there a link to that intro jam?
Whitey tighty should be Lee's new nickname.
