Justice League - Anatomy Of A Failure

- Justice League finally released, but not without controversy. While the movie has received love from various fans, overall it still seemed to be a far cry from what it potentially could have had to offer. What exactly caused it to become such a letdown? Now let's see how The Snyder Cut does.
Thanks for watching. Leave your thoughts about the matter in the comments below. Should Warner Brothers release the notorious Snyder cut -- would the possibility of a Black Suited Superman and Darkseid help the quality in order for the movie to rival Marvel's The Avengers and the upcoming Infinity War? What did you guys think of Justice League? Fans or no? Let everyone know in the comments below!
Filmento nice vid bro n I don’t even like superheroes lol! :)
Great vid. Looking forward to more.
Fan: Honestly, more or less saw this coming. WB hasnt exactly been kind to DC in general recently... Can I add details? Probably. Though two key points that have to be brought up. Smallville, and Teen Titans GO. Although honestly had very little issue with the latter, until I realized for how long they plan to milk it. Some things should be kept to small time parodies, not larger than what it parodied in the first place.
Casting, writing, acting , directing, all sucks . Marvel is destroying DC. it's actually SAD, I like superman and Batman but they should just stop making movies.
I love how dipshit youtubers make videos as if their opinion is fact of life and it's how everyone feels. The movie's a failure because you say it is.
The music was the avengers theme.
It's ridiculous. Marvel took not very popular characters and turned them into a cultural phenomenon. DC aren't able to take the most famous heroes and villians in comics history and simply make good movies.
*phenomenon
The difference lies the different cultures behind Marvel and DC. DC makes their comics simply to make money. There is no one face of the company. There is no underlying character or love for the craft. They're a machine that pumps out stories the easily entertained die for. Hell, they cling to Superman, simply because they refuse to let any other company claim to have a stronger character. If tomorrow Marvel came out with a character that just so happened to be stronger than Superman, you can bet your SWEET ASS that they would retcon the absolute FUCK out of Superman, and he would gain a shit-megaton of new powers and less weaknesses. (Superman Prime, much?)
On the other hand, there is Marvel. A company who's not interested in the least about just making the world's most perfect and powerful hero. They make characters, they make people. Their stories are more interesting, written with more heart, and treated with the same love and admiration as their respective audiences. They have Stan Lee. A man who's career is, was, and will always be to entertain the masses first and foremost with his comics. Even if he's every bit as greedy as DC clearly is, he doesn't come off as such. It clearly doesn't come off in the way their movies are made. Each movie, even if you dislike them, are well crafted with, again, all the love and respect for each character as their respective audiences. That's why they can take relatively unknown characters and turn them into worldwide phenomenon. They can do it, because they were fans of those characters before the public even knew they existed.
TL;DR Version
DC = Comic Machine with money as the forefront of their business model
Marvel = Comics made by fans, for fans.
DC can't make a good movie, because their main concern is trying to plaster as many logos onto their characters as possible, like NASCAR advertisement strategies. They can't stop meddling in the production, because they're too afraid they'll offend an investor. They couldn't be bothered to give a single pickled FUCK if the end result is good, so long as the end result is profitable. They're the Uwe Boll of superhero movies.
Dalion Heart What? That's not truth. In comics they're the same. It's in movies that Marvel destroys DC. DC destroys Marvel in animations and games and Marvel wins in TV shows, though.
Not to mention Warner has rights to all their characters, Marvel didn't! It's ridiculous, is what it is. Marvel Entertainment is SO competent and Warner SO incompetent!
In terms of DC animation, I could never really get into any of them. I hate batman, but love Mark Hammill as The Joker. That's about it. Their newer cartoons are boring, and their character designs want to be anime so bad it hurts. All of the animation production of a sub-par anime, with the boring cookie cutter superhero appeal of American DC Comics.
I'm not not a fan of a single DC related game. The Arkham series was ok, but it was still your average cookie cutter "dark gritty" batman story. Again, I hate Batman. Also not a fan of the Injustice series, but I did kind of enjoy watching a super mashup of all the story videos from the game. The gameplay was garbage though.
In terms of games though, I'm far, far more excited about this new Spider-Man game that just came out. Looks better, more colorful, open world, badass web swinging. Although I'm not a fan of Spider-Man, I do want to actually play that.
I agree about the TV shows. I loved the old X-Men cartoons.
All of that being addressed, you never really addressed my main points, or rebutted them. You simply claimed they weren't truth and moved on. As it stands, everything I said is the truth, as I see it. Marvel is a better comic book company, in literally everything they do from the ground up for that specific reason. They love and respect their characters every bit as much as their biggest fans. DC doesn't care one bit about any of their characters. They will keep them so long as they're making a profit.
Why this movie sucks?
-The story is boring and the writing is lazy.
-Terrible CGI
-Unknown characters with little to no development.
-Under developed badly portrayed villain.
-No heart, No soul.
I feel the same way about BvS
Well i didnt have any trouble identifying any of the characters, which characters did you feel were unknown?
This is just a minor example but that CIA agent was supposed to be JImmy Olson who had such a small screen time and got killed off o quickly. Apparently this is Snyder's way of having "fun" with him since he doesn't know how to use him in his movie. The way he said it makes him come across as a sociopath.
@@bossdogbossdog6558 any comic book fan can identify the characters based on looks. He is taking about their development and characterizations
actually since he lists under developed separately from unknown characters i would say your wrong. But he did ALSO refer to their development. But thanks for taking it upon yourself to be an authority on what this guy means, everybody really really likes that when someone does that. I bet youre real popular at parties huh?
Steppenwolf's design was terrible, the comics make him look like a regular person with red eyes. if you don't have to make a character cgi, don't!!!
I agree there... but regarding his character development, he gets way more in this movie than he ever did in the comics... his only notable story being that he killed the Trinity on Earth 2. In this film though, he fails to conquer the world, is exiled by Darkseid but wants to redeem himself, though it's never shown, only told in dialogue. Still way more characterisation than he's received in the comics, where he literally is just Darkseids uncle and that's it.
I mean thanos was cgi , well very good cgi but he was so much better character than Stephen wolf
@@youdontknowme2913 you're comparing the wrong characters. Steppenwolf would be the DC equivalent of one of Thanos Black Order minions, the real big bad of DC would be Darksied, which Thanos is a rip-off of anyway
@@SA80TAGE I cam comparing the writing not their ranking as boss
@@youdontknowme2913 which would still be unfair as the MCU had 10 years to perfect the character before settling on what he'd actually be like... this is noticeable in his earlier cameos, like when he smiles into the camera when he's told conquering Earth would be "to court death" = nothing like his final character... his appearance in GotG threatening Ronan = nothing like his final character.
DC didn't have anywhere near the same time to perfect a character like Steppenwolf, who really doesn't have much character in the comics beyond "Darkseids Uncle" anyway, so they had very little to work with when compared to Marvels Thanos, who is a major player in the comics and has been fleshed out over the course of decades.
You are basically comparing an old dog with a rich history (Thanos) to a new goldfish who's defining trait is to open his mouth every so often and not really say anything of note (Steppenwolf). It's hardly a fair comparison.
Dc's animated flicks are awesome. I don't understand why they act as they can't tell a good story??
Thank you! I was thinking the same thing... Just convert one of the many Justice League's animated full movie cartoons and presto... You've got yourself a movie everyone will love.
Well the animated universe has different writers....so that's that.
The 90's Batman and Superman shows were great. So was Young Justice and The Justice League cartoon. But then somehow they cant make a good live-action movie. Yeah, I know, different writers, but can't they ever get competent writers on this shit??
Edit; Oh shit, you meant movies. Meh, they're ok.

It sucks man. I started getting into the DC universe after Nolan's trilogy and Man of Steel (I found it amazing).
The problem is they want to present 5 movies in 1 movie.
Example batman vs superman had gods among us, Flashpoint paradox and dark side references through out and the movie it self had BvS and Doomsday
WTF! These can be easily 5 separate movies without having any reference to other. Only hardcore fans will understand the references, casual people would be like, what is going on?

I would like to add that Thor: Ragnarok had a more emotional dynamic with Thor and Loki working together than the heroes in this movie. Marvel released a movie where a hero and a villain working together felt closer than the heroes in this movie. Thor and his arch enemy felt closer than Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman did.
Yeah, it's almost like they were brothers
Thor raganrok was pretty forgettable and boring except for some parts
@@dibbadyda1728 But still I feel heroes should have a more believable dynamic than a hero and a villain, especially since Loki still betrayed Thor. Loki betrayed Thor, Thor left him to suffer, and they still felt closer than the heroes in this movie.

dc saw the success of marvel's movies and noticed they were being left behind, fast. The main problem is that they are trying to give their cinematic universe as much identity as marvel's, except they are trying to do it in only 5 movies or so. Marvel took YEARS, multiple heroes, story arcs and directors to make it, they explored a lot of ways of telling their stories, they tried the serious and dark hero movies, the funny light-hearted ones, etc... DC is trying so hard to cram all that up in every single movie when they should be focusing on making their own mark, giving life to their own particular characters. They weren't even close to ready to make a Justice League mvoei.
Exactly.
Exactly
B_Potassio they thought JL would make a billion like Avengers because people love superhero teams and failed .
Angelo Casin Marvel had way mores rights issues, no Spider-Man, no X-Men, no Fantastic Four, but that didn't stop them, instead they went a made more obscure heroes popular. DC (or more accurately WB) didn't have to wait for Superman.
DCEU has so much potential that they have to play a catch up role. Now they're tainted. If Marvel can make a talking Tree and a CGI raccoon as a fan favorite character, then DC can do it too. Sadly, executives and money grubbing power freaks has the final say. :(
Wonder Woman could have saved it, but no....they time jumped into Justice League.

WB: we failed in making a Justice League, and there was no material to use.
Justice League TAS and Unlimited: are we jokes to you?
TL;DR you have to understand the characters in the first place or you lose the audience.
You need to understand so much more than the strange costumes of Superheroes to make the kind of characters that had the wide and potent appeal that made these characters cultural touchstones. These are the gods of the American pantheon, each one is a philosophy incarnate.
Superman = the power of the American ideals of the founders that when moral men are free they can do great things
Batman = is the manifestation of effort and discipline he trains and plans and thinks. His not killing is about his ability to stare into the abyss and remain in control.
Wonder Woman = the feminine strength, not a woman who pretends to be a strong man but the true strength unique to the female gender.
Green Lanterns = idea that courage and determination can reshape the world
The Flash = is the boundless energy of optimism
Martian Manhunter = the dark weight violence leaves on us, and the reminder that empathy has a price.
Cyborg = is the demigod more a manifestation of a mixed confused self identity. He doesn’t represent that supreme concept yet, he could some day, but he really is more a human than an ideal.
When you forget this or fail to learn it you are doomed to alienate a portion of the fan base your predecessors earned.
What people don't understand is that this was the beginning of a cinematic universe and so none of these characters were in their "finished" stages as per the universe. These are individuals who had to overcome their own personal issues in order to come together and save the world. Wonder Woman was probably the only character basically already at the end of their arc. The others had much more learning and growth to do. A young immature Superman, an old bitter and broken Batman, a brash and selfish Aquaman, and a newly formed Cyborg. The Flash barely had enough screen time to even confidently say where he is. Where the makers of these movies failed is getting the viewers to understand all that in the way that Marvel did because we didn't see the majority of these characters don their costumes for the first time, or see Superman's growth and struggles after Man of Steel.
@@marqparks And that in turn is because they did the ensemble movie too soon, instead of bringing the individual characters in first. They were already horrifically late to the table in their own eyes, because Avengers (aka Avengers Assemble in some places) had been out for years and their ensemble movie hadn't even happened yet. They lost patience, they rushed things, they failed at a unified vision under a focused mind or team, and this is the result.
@@Ensign_Cthulhu True. Their greatest mistake was the studio rushing everything which is why they dialed it back to square one now. But now there's no overarching vision or narrative really. It's just a bunch of separate storylines allegedly taking place in the same universe, and then other standalone movies in their own universes. I think if the SnyderVerse had better writers to flesh out Zack's vision and tell his story instead of him trying to do it almost all himself, the movies (even with the rush to Justice League) still could've worked, and functioned in a different way than Marvel. You have Superman already fleshed out, then you're introduced to others who get fleshed out after. It felt like a live action animated series and I wish they could've just executed it better.
You made me cry

There's one thing I would describe the DCEU Snyder-verse: Rushed.
Sad to say whenever Deadpool or any other guys roast DCEU movies, I'm not laughing, I die a little bit inside. I liked the movie/franchise for what it is, but not enough for what it could have been.
The universe didn't have enough movies to build its own lore. Yeah DC made up with WW and Aquaman and Shazam films, but at the cost of two of its most iconic superheroes. Superman and Batman. And I know I'm not the only one here to say that Batfleck was one of the best Batman to date. Sad that Ben Affleck had to leave before we can have a proper solo Batman film starring him.
I fully 100% agree with you the Ben Affleck point, he had so much potential. I loved the Batman in first half of BvS, comparable to Christian Bale Batman, WASTED POTENTIAL!!
Synder Cut is coming so....
@@69nadyacole69 i hope he give Ben Affleck Batman justice
Man of Steel for me was still well done for what Snyder was going for. WB just made Snyder rush at the idea of a JL which probably made him start the 5 movie plan.
Snyder cut is faaar better. Sadly it's not cannon
I think a huge problem is that DC doesn't have their own studio. WB clearly doesn't care about these characters, or about making good movies. Having a few passionate DC folks involved doesn't mean anything when the key decisions are made by old white men in expensive suits who couldn't care less about superheroes. Say what you will about Marvel making dumb "kids movies", but at least they care about their source material. And at this point, it seems far better to succeed at making shallow films than it is to fail at making complex ones. Superman and the gang deserve better than this.
That's on point, Lars. I knew there was something holding them back and it's the fact that DC doesn't have free reign like Marvel Studios.
Yakko, Wakko and Dot are sabotaging DC's work! Let's throw them back into the water tower!
Exactly. Hell, even though Disney owns Marvel, they give the studio a lot of creative freedom to make the movies they want to make, the higher ups at Disney don't interfere too much as far as I know.
WB mandates everything on the other hand, and it screwed the DC film studio over royally many times. It was their corporate meddling and fear of losing toy sales and McDonald's sponsorships that gave us Batman Forever and Batman and Robin in the 90's. The same meddling also fatality wounded Green Lantern before it even had a chance. They gave Christopher Nolan total creative control over his Batman films and low and behold, they became the most successful movies DC ever put out. I don't believe DC themselves are the issue, Warner Bros is.
that's why i always thought the mockery about Marvel not having the rights for ALL of their heroes made no sense to me... DC has none, it's all warner.
Obviously WB only care for profits, money... but now they're losing money (because their own stupidity) they will most likely NOT give DC creative control over their films, and dont even think their own studios.
Say what you want about "the mouse" but "the bunny" semms way worse.
Yup, the sad thing is: the team who works at the DC animated movies (who clearly love their comics) seem to have more creative control - probably because these executive morons think cartoons are "kid stuff" and thus not worth their time (thank god), it's in the live action movies that the big bucks are!
The result is: I keep coming back to watch DC animations, and at the same time I cannot STAND to watch the DCEU, it's like they sucked the soul right off of these wonderful characters!
They HAVE the right people to make a great Justice League franchise, all they had to do was get their animation team behind it and LET THEM DO THEIR F*CKING WORK WITHOUT MEDDLING!!!!
Injustice 2 story mode is better than Justice league
Injustice stories are better than all of the DCEU.
When you don't care about the characters, nothing that happens matters. Period, the end.
I don't know why everyone talks about Marvel's villain problem but ignores DC. Zod, Lex, Doomsday, Enchantress, Ares, and now Steppenwolf. All terrible and almost identical to each other. Marvel has a few lame villains, some alright ones, and a few great ones. DC hasn't put out a good villain since Ledger's Joker. They've been coasting off his work for years now. Since then they've all been god awful. Lex Luthor is unwatchable. Imagine if Loki made you cringe every time you saw him.
You forgot about the members of the Suicide Squad (minus Katana and Rick Flagg) and the DCEU version of the Joker.
Brett PGH even Justin Hammer is a better villain than Lex .
Zod became doomsday which is coming back, Ares had a good point, steppenwolf got cuck by weadon. I like lex and enchantress but the hate is understandable. Plus DC gave thier villains a movie.
Brett PGH bane was pretty cool
Don't forget Incubus from Suicide Squad! That was one of the worst of them all.
Ciaran Hinds deserved better than to voice Steppenwolf, they should've let him look human and let Hinds do his thing. He's an incredibly talented actor who has taken on military/leader roles before and absolutely smashed them.
Daniel Clark-hughes the main reason they used him just as voice actor because of Steppenwolf's original design which was big horrifying alien like creature (BvS/Leaked concepts). With Whedon they decided to make the plot simpler and changed his look to more generic human-like villain.
S SS Nah, that wasn't whedon. That's WB.
it was Whedon and WB
Whedon came in late, he wouldn't have changed that much.
he changed alot of stuff
This film has no emotional impact. I feel that it would be better as a two parter. The first part for setting up the characters, with hints of the main villain. The second part should develop the villain, making a good back story and motive.
P.s I wrote this at the start and wasn't aware of darkseid
Why didn't they just simply take the plot of the Justice League Animated Series' pilot Episode & do that?!!

I hear so many people wanting a Snyder's Cut. But I think this would've solved nothing, because the problem was never the vision. The vision was there. The problem was the story. WB wanted to rush the film out so they could catch up to the MCU. They didn't plan ahead, they didn't gave us time to care about these characters, they just wanted to make the film because they thought it would earn them billions whether it was good or bad. As a result, the films were completely empty, despite them having a ton of shit going on. The only films that were good, and even great were Man of Steel and Wonder Woman, because the films were made to be standalone films, focusing on the characters in it, rather than setting up a bigger world.

I keep hearing people saying that MoS was a good film etc etc.
I'll say this: It is the second best DC movie. It is not a good movie on its own though. Too bloated, too up its own ass to be good.
Wonder Woman can stand on its own. MoS can't
Jimmy Reyes Animation People demanding for the Snyder cut are just people desperate to cling to any excuse they can as to why JL failed and therefore try to blame it on Whedon. “Whedon ruined the film, Snyder’s version would have been a flawless masterpiece”. Sad that DC fans are coming up with that bs mindset to ease their pain, poor souls. As for Whedon, he was brought in at the last minute to try and turn diarrhea into a 5 star meal. Its not possible, and he knew it, and he did his best, and he couldn't do it. Blaming him is absurd. Is he part of the reason the film was not good? Yes, his reshoots had a different feel compared with the rest of the movie. Is he the primary reason for its failure? Fuck right out of here with that.
Its kinda like if you worked really hard on an assignment, and the day before it was due, your partner decided to piss on it. Any rational human being would distance themself from the assignment, and try and convince others that its not their fault that it smells of urine.
Zack Snyder is on the same level as Michael Bay.
Kori Jenkins "People really overestimate Zack Snyder. He is not that talented, a much better cinematographer or chorographer than he is a director, and even, all his movies are too dark and you literally can't see anything happening." Umm.. That's your opinion bro.
"Zack Snyder made 1 maybe 2 passable movies, and suddenly everyone wanted to pretend he was some pioneer"
Umm.. "Dawn of the Dead", "300", "Watchman", "Man of Steel", and "Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice" (Specially the Ultimate Edition) I don't know if I would call him a pioneer but that's 5 dude.
"As for Whedon, he was brought in at the last minute to try and turn diarrhea into a 5 star meal" Uhh… What are you talking about? What diarrhea?? What are you talking about a clear vision of what the Director (Zack Snyder) and Writer (Chris Terrio) wanted the films message and end product to be? Let me educate you a little. The reason why WB told Josh to reshoot not 10% (which WB told the media, and fans which was obviously a lie) but like 60% of the film was because they wanted a dumb down MCU superhero movie (Not saying I don't like the MCU Spider-Man is my favorite Comic Book Superhero and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War are my top 10 favorite Comic book movies) and Zack Snyder didn't give them what they wanted, that's why they let him go and using his daughters death being the reason he left as a cover up. In short the WB Executives got mad he didn't make The Avengers 2.0 and made him leave because they felt it was too "dark" So they hired the guy that made one of the highest grossing films and superhero films and to try to get that kind of money too. and yes Whedons AND Geoff Johns are the primary reason for "Justice League" oops I meant Josstice League failure.
"It's kinda like if you worked really hard on an assignment, and the day before it was due, your partner decided to piss on it" Yeah this is a good "analog" as Intoxicated Gray Hulk said if you're saying that Snyder was the one that worked hard on the assignment for his partner Josh Whedon to piss on it.
Yeah, people who try to blame Joss Whedon are fucking idiots. Zack Snyder isn't that good of a director. The only really good movie he has ever made was 300 and that was pretty much a page for page adaptation of Frank Miller's comic. This movie was already trash, just like every other DC movie that Zack Snyder has touched. You can only polish a turd so much, especially when the studio has your hands tied behind your back.
Chase Gensler/Miller/Parisi Whedon is to blame, Snyder is a God
I don't think anyone ever pretended he was a pioneer. He's comparable to Michael Bay in a way, both their movies come off as shallow, with Bay's having a reputation for explosions and bad jokes and Snyder's having a reputation for slow-motion and dark colours. The difference here is that Bay's movies are shallow because he actually wants them to be or doesn't care that they are, while Snyder's are shallow because he doesn't know how to add substance to them.
Note: In the first Avengers film, Loki doesn't die.
*WAIT BUDDY* Then when we next see him on Thor 2, the Guy looks like a retired Rockstar Metalhead who has just recently recovered from a severe heroin addiction. Lol

It did for me lol
Snyder cut was 4 hours of Zack Snyder sniffing his own farts lol
I really like batman... but Ben aflecks choreography is just horrible... he's supposed to be a martial arts master flying around the room with ease and he moves like a old stiff man instead who doesn't know how to throw a proper kick with any speed or grace.
That opening scene though, was totally kick ass batman :P
Dude didn't see the warehouse scene...lmfao.
that opening scene with Batman was a joke.
there's no way he should have been struggling to take down that simple burglar.
then afterwards he just lets the burglar go.
I think the biggest problem with this batman is that he is too humorous, batman is know for being angry and serious not the batman we see in the movie where he's more layed back and sarcastic.
Moonknightgames yeah i hated that in JL as well. I liked the more serious Batfleck in BvS
Who's here watching this Video waiting for Filmento to cover the Snyder Cut?
I am.
Is anyone going to mentioned the horrible way Superman just Deus Ex Machina'd the whole film, robbing it of a decent resolution?
That was my biggest issue with the film and the only thing I noticed when I was watching it with an open mind. Everything else you sorta have to think about, but superman comes in and it's just like "Huh? Why are literally any of the others necessary?"
I don't know that I really agree, more or less Superman being dead was the root cause of the entire movie's conflict. Darkside sent Steppenwolf to earth because with Superman dead the earth was vulnerable, it had defenders but they would likely be outmatched in a straight up fight.
I'm not saying it couldn't have been better executed, I'm just saying it was on theme and established back at the end of BvS and the beginning of Justice League.
Justice League was rushed, and it would have benefited from some more gradual world building before the big crossover movie, but Superman pretty much ending this particular fight as soon as he got involved is narratively appropriate. There's no reason for the big bad to send someone equipped to face Superman, as far as he's concerned he dealt with that threat using Lex Luthor already. He sent a lieutenant to face an unprepared and weakened world, because his assassin already eliminated the greatest obstacle to victory. If you already sabotaged your enemies armored divisions, you don't equip your forces with anti tank weapons. That's all I'm saying.
@@ryanalving3785
Narratively, it makes sense, but in terms of the stakes, it ruins them. Since one Supes is back the movie is basically over lol
@@PengyDraws
Pretty much. It might have been better if they brought Superman back as a last resort in the middle of the final showdown somehow. They could have leaned into the conflict that using the mother box to raise Superman was a bad idea, and maybe even had it turn out that he would be partially corrupted by it at first. He could have taken Steppenwolf's side and temporarily become exactly what Batman was previously afraid he would. Single handedly defeating all the other superheroes and holding them off so Steppenwolf could set up the unity thing to destroy the world.
And as long as I'm rewriting this one, have it so that Luthor's plan actually worked in the previous movie. Batman succeeds and kills Superman, but seeing Lois' pain breaks him and he realizes that he's become exactly what he was fighting against. He can't take it, and as he starts to realize the implications of what he's done (Steppenwolf's invasion) he organizes the Justice League. When they lose a few battles, he becomes obsessed with bringing Superman back and everyone else fights him on it; but they grudgingly agree. Superman goes mental, and flies off with the mother box. Feeling like they've lost the only card they really had and that it was Bruce's fault, the League abandons him and goes to try and stop Steppenwolf without him. Steppenwolf convinces Superman that his altruism is naive, and that if he wants to put a stop to the violence he needs to make the Earth fear his power; exerting absolute control. So he convinces him to join his side. The Justice League shows up to face them, and Superman defeats them all. Then, Batman shows up; alone. Superman starts to take his time punishing him for killing him, but Bruce doesn't fight back; he brings Superman back from the dark side because he knows what it is to become what you fought against. So, Superman in the final hour turns against Steppenwolf; but he doesn't have to fight him. The fear of Superman, growing through the whole battle against the Justice League which he watched from the background comes out when he sees Superman turn to face him. His own parademons attack him and defeat him just like in the movie we have; and Superman manages to undo the mother box unity to save the day.
It might not have turned out very well, but I think this could have helped the execution of the story they were working with. What do you think? Do you think this might have worked?
@@ryanalving3785
They should have put you in charge.
Is it just me or does "Steppenwolf" look a lot like the brother of Echantress from "Suicide Squad"? (I don´t know his name anymore :D)
That’s who I thought it was his name is Incubus I believe
My thoughts exactly!
Fun Fact: Steppenwolf was initially supposed to be the main antagonist in Suicide Squad - the weird zombie creatures in suicide squad were supposed to be parademons, and it would tie in to Justice League (Steppenwolf ending victorious in Suicide Squad)
ProtoMarcus
I'm a little late here, but man, that would have made things so much more interesting, if the villain won in Suicide Squad. And this is coming from someone who doesn't hate that movie.
There is a German cycle brand called Steppenwolf lol
Why don't WB understand one simple thing? The kids who grew up reading and loving DC comics ...are now grown ups. You don't make it PG 13 and lighter. Besides DC thrives in its dark characters. So much wasted potential here that it almost makes me cry.
And....batman is loved because he is batman, don't try to make him Ironman. It is awful to imagine a smiley batty who cracks jokes all the time. Yeesh
That's like having a broody joker.
Part of the problem is Man of Steel Superman the director adored batman but got put on Superman so forced Supes to be the Bat so then there was no contrast when he got both for the second movie
@MistaJ 2002 *blinks* I didn't even mention Marvel? Not to mention it literally was in his interviews he wanted Batman WB gave him superman. I prefer the DC AU Superman to the live action Man of Steel
@@Ladywizard I’m fine with PG-13. DC has some of the darkest comic characters, yet it’s best content is still animated TV-PG shows. You can have a dark and serious PG-13 movie, it’s just that everyone’s trigger response is to make it R-Rated for “maturity.”

I like how the studio used to call Zack’s vision “unwatchable” but then fast forwarding to 2021, the Snyder cut is now what I would consider the best DCEU movie. Just proves WB doesn’t know how to handle these characters and properties.
Give the rights to the characters specifically to Zack Snyder so he can finish his saga! #restorethesnyderverse
If they could just remake the justice league animated movie in live film adaptation, that would have been enough
This movie was a mess, the entire plot was about the Gary Stu that is Superman. The movie just end up predictable and boring after this.

DC got caught up trying to race Marvel when Marvel were already on a victory lap. They should have stuck to a unified vision and let it play out.
Once Infinity saga was over DC would have had all those fans attention on top of their normal fans if they’d just taken the time and allowed the directors to see it through.

I rewatched watchmen the other day - a greta piece of film worth rewatching unlike most of what the WB have put out to date for DCEU
"i tried"
Tommy Wiseau tried harder.
even 'The Room' is more watchable than Justice League.
I'm one of the people who was bothered by the Man of Steel city fight. Not because of it being a city fight, mind- Supes is constantly getting into city fights in all of his stories. He tries to avoid them, tries to drag them out of the city, but they do still happen. The issue is that MoS lacked that effort. If they had even paid lip service to the idea of Supes trying to drag Zod out of Metropolis, and Zod refusing to allow it, I'd have been totally fine with it, and my only issue would have been that the whole second and third acts of the movie are basically one long city fight with occasional interludes. But they didn't, and then Snyder got snarky about people not being cool with it and made BvS's fight scenes take place in generic flat wastelands.
No. Fight scenes in bvs took place there because the city was prolly still rebuilding from man of steel. How do you know he did it because of what people complained about. Man of Steel was angood movie. It didnt cater to what you wanted and didntbaddress things how you woulda liked. Who cares
If you look back at the fight, Superman is just not in control. A lot of the time is just Zod thrashing him. Also this is a Superman who has been in a fight once, prior to fighting Zod, he has absolutely no idea what he's doing.
he tried to take it away from the city he tried to take it into space remember??But then zod just dragged him back onto earth. And as zod said theres only one way this ends kal either you die or i do. So it think supes at that moment with the dumb family who could have run away thought. If i take him to space he will just come back. If i keep him here he's just gonna destroy more stuff. I think thats the justification for the killing and destruction that happens in that movie
BloodyAltima superman just learned to fight. He was still young and inexperienced. The previous supermen lacked the power and strength of modern superman. Two kryptonians would be like a nuke going off. The idea is it was realistic and not a child’s movie. Superman only smashed Zod into a building once while zod kicked his butt everwhere else. Also the movie specially potrays that Supes is only human after all. He’s allowed to make mistakes. It’s not your typical humour cracking, fun fight on the ground marvel movie. It is the fate of the world hanging in the balance. There has never been so much power behind superman before. Only ever in comic movies.

What's especially worrying is that kids growing up in this era of movies won't understand how much better and (imo) more developed DC characters actually are, especially in the comics. Unless they see the Nolan trilogy (which doesn't play in theaters, so they have to get lucky or have heard of it before), they'll think that the main heroes of the DC universe are this bad in every medium (b/c most people don't read comics that often). The awful choices of WB have stunted the success of this franchise for at least 10 years. Sad.
Fuck i was so disappointed with this Movie.
"We are getting 17 different Joker movies with 30 different Jokers" 😂😂 Ouch, Not far from the truth if WB keeps reshuffling producers and directors mid shoot
I honestly thought this movie was pretty good but once superman came to life and started fighting he made steppenwolf look useless, also i feel that they should've let superman beat his ass and then let steppenwolf interact with the boxes but that never happened
The film isn’t horrible but it certainly isn’t good.
Gaming and Nerdy its both
It lacks the cool moments that saved BvS to me. I love the armored suit and the fight. I actually love every fight scene with Batman in BvS. I loved Alfred. I loved the Batmobile. I loved the "bitch talk" stuff like "do you bleed?". JL's kick ass moments are basically... Diana telling Cyborg she totally knew he spied on them near the lake and Barry realizing Superman is on par with him on speed. Batman doesn't have any cool fighting scenes, Superman overpower Stephenwolf too easily and Cyborg just finds out too easily how to resurrect Superman and unfuse the boxes. I also feel like Bruce Wayne doesn't give a crap about secret identity in this universe.
Well, it's not Fan4stic awful, that's the takeaway.
You've spoke my language. To me, it's passible. Its not as good as Wonder Woman, but at least it's better than the other movies in the DCEU.
Next month we'll get the Zach Snyder Justice League cut. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, and if it'll make for a better movie. It's going to be over four hours, which is a lengthy watch.
I bet Filmento's gonna use both Steppenwolves (that's the plural, right?) for the video's thumbnail. Will see..
Warner/DC has completely fucked it up and they will continue to fuck it up,because they rushed into this ''Cinematic Universe'' thing, without having a proper plan.
For years, they were sleeping, milking the success of Batman and specially the Nolan trilogy to death, without doing a serious attempt to put their other characters on the big screen. Then Marvel made a metric shit-ton of money with their MCU and the greedy Warner execs said:''we want a piece of this pie and we want in NOW''. Instead of learning from the criticisms on ''MoS'' and make a proper Superman sequel and also introduce the other characters with solo movies, they just dumped everything into ''BvS'' and ''JL''.Add to this, the fact, that they put people like Snyder and Goyer in charge(Snyder is great at all things visual, but has no clue about story or character development and Goyer is a total hack, who takes credit, because he assisted the Nolan Bros.)then fired them, replaced them with Whedon, pretty much fired him too(if you believe the rumors) and that the studio execs are interfering in the work of the directors,re-shoots,re-edits etc. and you get this mess.
At this points, they just should reboot the whole thing.
"the future fell apart, it's depressing"... Tell that to his daughter. I truly feel horribly sad for him.
fast Forward 17 march 2021, one day before ZACK SNUDER"S JUSTICE LEAGUE's release, WE all know that Studio and Especially Joss Whedon ruined Justice League. And if that was his best, then he is a terrible director. Not every super hero movie is for children
That Zod was hardly developed. He had one emotion the whole time, screaming rage.
I have a hypothesis - which isn't entirely mine, I'm pretty sure I picked it up from someone else, I just can't remember who - that all the DCEU's disasters can be traced back to a single film. That film: Sucker Punch.
I think that Zack Snyder was contractually obligated to make a film for Warner Bros because they let him do Sucker Punch, a personal passion project. So when they wanted to do a Superman film , they had this incredibly talented and popular director who specialised in stylised action scenes, and had already done a fairly well-received comic adaptation, who owed them another film. It's practically a no-brainer to pair them up.
But then Man of Steel went horribly wrong, because while Zack Snyder is an amazing filmmaker, he doesn't _like_ superheroes. So instead of making a reasonably straight Superman story, he phoned in a bleak and depressing story that wasn't going to appeal to fans of the character _or_ to general audiences. WB panicked when their sure thing turned into a divisive mess, and rather than pause, take a breath, and figure out what went wrong, they decided to double down on Snyder's vision, while at the same time meddling to force him to use characters and plot points that he wasn't interested in. And when BvS went even more horribly wrong, WB panicked even harder, sacked Snyder halfway through to bring in Whedon, and the whole thing fell apart under its own weight.
And now we are in 2022, with MCU going Pegi-13-all-the-way with removing blood scenes, casting kids for the main roles and creating unwatchable CGI characters, meanwhile we hear all the rumours about David Zaslav restoring the SnyderVerse and wanting the DCEU to be actually good... What a time to be alive 😄
