Steamworld Dig 2 secret trials

- I don't know if it was there all along, but after you collect all the artifacts, there's a hint that leads you to a secret set of trials in the windy plains. They're hard, but they mostly require some memorization.
You have to complete them in random order. This run, I had trial of rockets, trial of skillness, trial of crushers, trial of escape, trial of aconknights, trial of flight, and amusingly enough, I had the trial of buttons last. I'm pretty sure you can completely ignore the buttons but just to get that one bonus screen I went ahead and did it.
Trial of rockets is by far the hardest, and when I managed to get through it having lost only my first of 2 sets of hearts, I thought I had a really good chance of finishing it! Plus I had just figured out a good strategy for the trial of escape, so yea! - Игры
vectron is so much scarier in this game than the first
Commander1228 finally someone that Thinks like me
And those freakin' electro robots. First time I saw one of those I thought it'll be just like the lava golems, and let the fen-like light activate it... You know what happened next...
They remind me of Loopers from RTCW
@@biterofbronyas I know I'm 4 years late - but YES! And the music that kicks in - and the red light flashing. Legit scary :-)
man i wish they made a third
They go and save fen 😢
Actually there IS a third game, steamworld heist. It takes place literally after this game and you even find Fen and play as him!
@@klikz_official8690 you can actually save Fen, in the third game, steamworld heist
This is completely ridiculous. I'm glad I didn't complete this game 100% and tried the trials. The frustration would have diminished the positive feeling I have for this game.
To the player: amazing job in completing the trials!!!
My exact thoughts!
Yeah, I'm right there with you. Thank GOD they didn't make the main game anywhere near this difficult. It was a REALLY well-rounded experience, with story, music, art, etc.
Honestly, it's not that bad. I got the trial and error down in the first couple of hours, then slept on it, and beat it after 4 or so tries the next day (which would be just now, yahy!) The knight and escape challenges are what killed me the most, but then I got good at projectile parrying and realized that the jet engine is faster than the big bots. Past that point, everything is just developing skills and strats for it
Whoever made the trial of rockets is a horrible person.
Its supposed to be a Challenge isnt it ?
@@simontobias9678 It's not fun at all, it's just frustrating.
whoever made trial of skillness is a horrible person
@@oneup117gaming4 skillness trial is ez
@@oneup117gaming4 It’s frustrating to learn for sure, requires a lot of trial and error. But once you do the jumps between 1 and 3 times, you’ll adjust to them.
You’re supposed to lightly (and relatively quickly) tap the jump button when you hit a wall the first time. Run from the left edge and use that strategy on the first jump. If you do it right it should give you enough momentum to hit the wall above it, or the opposite wall if you prefer.
Forgot how to do the second jump. I remember running from the left to the alcove on the right and back (without jumping on the way back). Then once you hit the edge of the middle platform, light tap should send you up if you do it right.
The third one is the last tricky one (since the ones after are all about straight momentum). The third one has a torch in the middle that you should use as an indicator for when to jump. If you light tap the right wall, you’ll eventually get the momentum to hit the left. It will save your momentum so how you jump from the left wall isn’t too big a deal. Jump to the right platform. Then from there it’s a simple run and jump to the left.
12:15 Loved that Super Mario Bros referencer the devs made there! xD
Rakov Kreviech yeah like the bowser battle when you pull down the switch and he burns
Super Mario Master15157 yeah like THAT IS FUCKING OBVIOUS
Guacamelee! had one, too. There's a trend of indie games making the same SMB reference.
There's a Super Mario stage in Steamworld Dig 1 too. I hadn't seen anything about it in the couple of strats I'd watched, so it was so much fun to randomly come across lol
Don’t forget the Portal reference at 12:36!!
That's why you have the blood drop! For health!
12:49 It is REAL?! WOW!
Soooo helpful. Recommond the "below the acid swamp" for farming blood rock. In the above cave there r much snail to farm. All kind of rock restore 1 blood, there r all same no matter the rock level.
the first jump in trial of skillness? its driving me absolutely insane.
It’s ez, the rest is AAAA
Nope lol fk that
Don't know who thought it was a good idea to stick hardcore platforming levels at the end of a laid-back metroidvania.
Dr. Corndog agreed. This is such a bizarre and stupid difficulty spike. Who is this for? It is like playing metal as an encore to classical music.
Dinosaurprince It is an optional challenge
no such thing as a laid-back metroidvania
I wish they made entire games this hard still.
negromermaid 420 CELESTE or HOLLOW KNIGHT or MEATBOYS
Oh man, your strat for getting through the Trial of Escape seriously saved my bacon. I couldn't figure out how to even get through that alive.
Awesome. Thanks for mentioning out that the order is random. I‘ll definitely retry untill I get the rockets first, too.
@Qi Huang If you use the skill to let you hold 5 items instead of 4 per slot the discard skill heals for 1.5 per slot. Worth a little bit of extra farming for that considering these trials can be rather daunting.
Check it. And I got it. wtf is worth a little bit!!! much helpful haha. thx.
_ALSO: HIDE THE CAKE_
lol
Ah, good idea stocking up on bloodstones beforehand. I ended up completing it yesterday without them, but that might have helped me achieve it faster. Though honestly, after completing Celeste 100% (golden strawberries excluded) I feel like my patience for these kinds of challenges would rival a buddhist monk... Wait, patience? Isn't it more like stubbornness and pride..? Ah well... xD
Lol proof of completion? Yeah I'll think I'll save myself 4 hours. Good video though.
conkerlive101 „...and all I got was this lousy Proof of Completion?!“
Very Clever to collect those Drops for a few Bars X-Tra HP
*Three worst trials:* Acoknights (the fireball segment is easy to lose health on if you mess-up, whereas the rest is just plain easy), Rockets and...... *_*gulp!*_* ......ESCAPE!!
The fireballs are pretty easy to dodge if you just stay on one end of the blocks most of the ride
So I know I'm really, REALLY late here, but let me share some more tips with you I found out while playing the trials myself that might help.
1. Trial of Rockets
Well, I said I'd give a few tips, but honestly, there's not much more I can tell you on this one. it is just hard as balls. Practice it and you'll eventually make it. Though do take inspiration from this video, they did quite a good job on it already. Though, at 2:25 I recommend using the grappling hook to pull yourself across to the other side of the falling blocks. If you got the range upgrade that is.
2. Trial of Skillness
Again, not much more I can add. There is just not much TO add. Well, this video shows you that you can perform some kind of super wall jump, but not exactly how to do it. You basically have to sprint at a wall, jump and the walljump off of it with perfect timing before you start sliding. You can also do a sort of super jump afterwards if you jump immediately after touching the ground again. Like that, you could land on the platform at 3:55, immediately jump again and hold left and reach the left block to walljump on top of it. But the bomb strat is actually really clever, so props for that.
3. Trial of Crushers
Man, I feel stupid now. I said I'd give tips and here I am with nothing to add AGAIN... The only thing here is that, at 5:00, I'm pretty sure you are meant to sprint here, then jump off the last 2 wide fist onto the 1 wide fist, let go of sprint again and methodically jump from one fist to the next. After all, the 2 wide fists are placed perfectly to allow you to run over the 1 wide gaps, and since they rise so quickly, sprinting the entire way might give you a headstart on the small fist parkour so you don't have to panic-lava-bounce like the person in the video.
4. Trial of Escape
I actually do have some things to recommend here. First off, flying strats. At the very beginning, when flying to the top of the narrow, cyber-ghost filled passage, don't touch your control stick at all. Simply rhythmically press the jetpack button until it's like a third full, let go for like half a second, then press it again. This will give you a good speed to not only easily reach the top without damage but also teach you the rhythm of the jetpack. Because you will need it.
The idea for initiating the escape by luring the robots at 6:39 was great. Try not to get hit by the right one if possible, then apply your just learned jetpack strats (though take care to not get caught in ridges in the ceiling) to easily and damagelessly outspeed the robots.
The next part of navigating through the labyrinth of spoopy faces was very well done as well. Though do get in mind that you can always get a speed boost by using your grappling hook if things get tight.
The next robot chase scene, again, flying strats. Fly to the end of the room, avoiding ceiling gaps, and you should easily be able to drop through the gap at the floor on the very left or even an earlier one if you manage to predict it without taking a hit.
The triple stacked robots then. Absolutely brilliant. Why did I not think of using my grappling hook there? Anyway, do that, just as they did in the video. Same as the last chase scene, which will be one final test of your flying strats before the trial is finally over.
5. Trial of Acoknight
You'll want to use a lot of sticky bombs here. Also, I recommend equipping the knockback skill, simply for the bot at 8:39. Anyway, some of the bots fall into the lava quickly by themselves, and you don't have enough water for using sticky bombs on all of them, so remember which ones die quickly by themselves from this video, kill the one in close combat by knocking him into the lava and kill the rest with EXPLOSIONS!
Then the raining arrows. I can't believe I didn't see the pattern here. Learn the pattern from this video and do it how they did it. You can try to reflect the arrows with your pickaxe, but it probably won't work. Trust me.
Then the fists. For the love of god, please make this easy on yourselves. Just wait on the rightmost edge of the rightmost box to load the fists as early as possible. This will give them a timing that is easy to dodge, as in, wait for the first fist to punch, then as it is down, sprint against its left side until it raises again. Keep sprinting, and you'll run under every single fist without risk of getting hit. Trust me, works 100% of the time all the time. Well, on the last one you might have to do it twice, since there are two sets of fists, but you'll see when you get there. Anyway, please don't die here. Especially since the last part of this trial is only a fun rollercoaster with no real challenge.
6. Trial of Flight
The first room is only really there to get you in the mood. Keep a steady pace like they did in the vid and you'll be A-okay. Then, the second room with the walls of fire. They did pretty good here too, except for the final wall. I got hit here a lot, so let me tell you: If you attempt these trials, odds are you have the one second of lava resistance equipped. In that case, dodge the final fire pillar (the one on the bottom) not by squeezing between it and the stone blocks like they did in the video; rather, dodge it by going underneath. It can be scary, but you have plenty of time to hop into the lava, let the fire pass you and hop back out again unscathed.
The next room then. What basically happens here is that you are being pressured by diagonal walls of fire to your left and right moving along at a consistent pace, so as long as you keep that pace you can completely forget about those and focus on the balls of fire from the top and bottom. They are not that hard to dodge, so you'll be fine. Get through the Bowser fight and you are done.
7. Trial of Buttons
Enjoy your congratulatory cake! :3
Now, keep in mind that these trials could appear in any order. I am not responsible for any good runs ruined by a final kick in the butt by the trials of escape and rockets on 6 and 7. But take these tips and the methods from the video and I'm sure you'll beat it in no time.
thanks a lot for your insights!
The only trials I had trouble with was the Blue Skulls and the Rockets. Whoever thought it was a bright idea to make Rockets follow you (with hazards nonetheless) is a fucking devil!!! Also the hook has shitty control mechanism and not accurate hitbox.
And I completed this trial without the knowledge of the blood drop healing
I love the Super Mario's reference
Vectron was GLADOS all along :D
So now value in completing the trails only a challenge ??
Wish you didn't have to find every artifact to unlock these trials.
Them's the breaks.
Also, I think it's kinda fair, considering how rough it can get in some of those trials. (In particular, Rockets and Escape. I especially loathe the latter.)
Holy shit I just did this with no blood rocks on normal mode. I survived with one heart after the stupid trial of escape
I found the skull in the sky and got 24 relics, i was hoping for a ovet the top reward. Not sure if i will do the challenge , but it is fun for those crazy enough fir a struggle
How to get this blood stones to restore up during the trials?
that no jet and hook allowed is so hard.. and u make it look so easy. hahahha
why won't my grappling hook reflect these rockets?
Do I need to these one after another? If I die do I have to start over again playing them in a different order or once I'm done with one I'll be given one of the remaining trials I have not yet completed?
Way late here, but I just got the game. I died on rockets, and the message said you will restart at a checkpoint. So I have a feeling the trials you already cleared count towards total. I dunno though, as I don't feel the need to put myself through this aggravation.
@@Virjunior01 Yeah I think that to be the case. It's been so long, haha!
How do i actually get to the trials? I have all the stuff but can't find the way up there.
The upgraded jetpack can get there no matter when you jump. Or which direction you jump in. It's pretty much infinite.
Anthony Bowman
The one above was referring to the trial of skillness. Of course to reach the cave, you just need the upgrade that allows you to cool your jets in the air.
No sabía que las gemas de sangre servían más para recuperar salud. Gracias por el dato 😃
un poco tarde, pero... no son las gemas de sangre en si, es un upgrade que te permite descartar gemas para recuperar salud.
You can now play as Luigi!
Awesome run, and very helpful! What did you do to get all those blood stones before going in? Is there a quick way to farm them somewhere?
Furthermore, one of the Yonker brothers gives you a blueprint that greatly increases the rate at which enemies drop blood drops/stones/rocks, but also increases the damage enemies do to you. That makes farming actually feasible. Just make sure to deactivate the blueprint before entering the trials.
Hey I need help, in my world I am nearly out of resources to mine but I am no way near close to all upgrades what should I do?
You have to farm blood stones. There's a cog you can install that makes enemies more likely to drop blood drops/stones but also makes them do more damage. So turning that on and going to above the acid pong for snails, or maybe demons crib since that's fast, you can grind and get more money that way. Definitely turn that off again when you actually do the trials though lol
Have the developers ever tried completing the trials without taking damage?
I beat the trials after who knows how many try’s but my life feels meaningless now.
The trial is too hard for me, just pass.
Good video though.
Vectorn is soooooooo scary
When I first started trying the trials the first one I had was "trial of buttons" and when the screen started glitching I said out loud "Vanellope, tell Ralph to get out of my game." I felt like such a nerd.
Is this out?
I like the strat for health
how do i get there
i spent fucking 3 months playing this final trial. i cant believe people succeed
i cant do this, the jump is impossible
Raul Rojas jump's easy, rocket is hell
It's the stupidest fucking thing i've ever seen in a game.
Kevlar44 it's easy dude have you never played a precise platformer?
The jump doesn't work. I've played tons of platformers. My guy NEVER jumps high like that. Don't know it's a glitch or he's hit some random button besides run and jump. wtf.
The jump was not accurate at all. They literally wanted you to jump off air when you run off the edge. Took me 20 mins to get that bitch right. But the Rockets are fucking hell
3:52 - I can not maintain momentum on this jump. How do you do it?
How do u get more hearts
I know I'm late but I just did this and noticed you maintain momentum if you press the jump button faster than you normally would, like the moment you touch the wall.
@@Strikerdoodle Dude you are awesome
Make sure you're holding the sprint button down the whole time too
Glitchyness
Actually if you tried this few times you will do it, it took me 4 times to win
me los pase el 1 y el 2 esperando haber si sale el 3 si hacen uno mencanto el juego
4:17 that jump is impossible lol
12:12 looks like a shout-out to Bowser from the first Super Mario Bros. game.
Why is your inventory full of bloodstones
Oh I see
3:51 idk how you did that
God damn it im Missing 2 artifacta and and dont even know where this shity things are -,-

Each of the 5(?) parts of the map says what percent of secrets you've found. Find which part you're missing then for and use the mod that makes weak walls visable. Shouldn't take too long. There's a couple in the middle(left to right) of the caves, but most are along the walls.
how do i open the lower jaw

Hey,can someone help me?i downloaded this game like 6 months and i started playing this week,my problem is that some effects of the game are invisibles, like the grenades, the fire of the pickaxe,or the rockets, and i don't know how to fix it,and like the third time i opened the game, everything was fine, all the effects were perfect, but when i closed the game, and i opened it again, the fail were there again,i searched a little bit into the game archives and i didn't found nothing, with that is impossible for me to win the battle against the final boss, please someone help me
Have you tried uninstalling the game and redownloading it?
Maybe some files got lost in the initial install.
If that doesn't work, maybe something in your computer is just not processing the effects correctly. If that's the case, I don't know what to tell you.
Skyseeker well i already defeated the boss(i don't know how but i did it)so i'll try it,if it doesn't work...i don't know,anyways i'll erase the game
do you get a chain after this shit or what
Lol all blood
I didn’t know that u can hit the rockets with the hook 🤡🤡🤡
> be indie dev
> don't have nintendo levels of responsive gameplay
> implement ridiculous walljumping trial
Utter massochism. I'm utterly stuck at 3:44, it just simply won't register the high jump and does a regular walljump. Or not respond at the second jump.
Nope you just suck at it. Controls are great
I did it, but it is not fun in the least.
It's easy af wut
Yeah, the Trials of skillfulness is pretty much impossible on consoles. It's almost impossible to make the jumps with a joystick.
Nauris Lukševics
So you're saying it has to be done with the D-pad? Too bad the Joycon's are separate buttons. Kind of glad I got this for the 3DS instead.
Jinsei Cast yeah, d-pad is pretty much a must here
I'm playing om switch and the trial of skills is the easiest one wtf
No its not impossible
No dude u just bad at the game
i thought i sucked at this, i purposely didnt use the discard resources for hp option, but damn, compared to you i did pretty good :P got 5 challanges with last stand only.

Wow. That's...not worth.
