I live in Duncan and finally bought my first boat. I am very excited to try out some island hopping with my family this summer. Thanks for the awesome video!
Your vid’s make me homesick, I’m from Sidney, BC. Currently sailing around the world 🌎 Thailand is home for the next months, we’ll be back soon. I was on G dock right at the end with immigration.
That’s awesome! We love our weekends and summer holidays with minimal commitment boating while staying connected to job, home, school, etc; but committing to a round-the-world trip, lifetime dream!
Hi guys, nice to see a local cruising channel. My all time favorite is Cabbage Island, it has the most interesting conglomerate rock formations on the north side. But beware of the NW winds, they can ruin your visit and always seem to come up in the middle of the night (making it not a favorite of my wife's). We have been chased out of there more than a few times. As for your choices, they are all good spots to explore.
Thanks for the comment Dave. Cabbage Island is a great spot and totally agree with you regarding the weather but if you nail the right forecast you can be rewarded with an overnight stay. Tumbo Island is a great spot to explore while there. Cheers!! Matt
Hi Robert Very possible, your boat name sounds a bit familiar but I cannot place it offhand. If you ever see us at anchor, feel free to pop over for a hello! Thanks for reaching out and for commenting! Matt
Just spent a couple days at Russell island for the first time. What an amazingly beauiful spot. Thanks for the recommendation. Hope you guys are having great summer.
Hi Paul, Happy Canada Day! Nice to hear you enjoyed Russel. So far so good for this Summer, we’re heading north soon for our big trip of the year. Thanks for the comment. Take care and be safe! Matt
We have to try out Tent Island hopefully at some point. Tribune(Hornby) and many of the Desolation Sound anchorages would qualify as our favourites too. You and your crew are going to have a great trip up there this summer. Thanks for the comment!!
Wow! Southern Australia, that's some serious blue water boating! I did watch Sailing Zatara transit Australia's southern coast a few years ago, very exposed but beautiful. We are as you saw, located in much more protected coastal waters; so many different methods of boating throughout the world... Thank you for watching and appreciate the comments! Matt
You are so welcome! The charts used in the video are digital versions of the CHS (Canadian Hydrographic Service) raster charts. I like them because they are the same look as the paper charts. Thanks for the comment and for watching! Matt
Greetings from Bellingham. Good video and great information. We plan to cruise in the Gulf Islands in June with a group from here. Montague is definitely on our list -- with a pilgrimage to the Hummingbird!
Hi Steve, Hope the info contributes to decision making when your cruising in this area and have a great trip in June to the Gulf Islands. We really want to go for another ride on the pub bus to the Hummingbird Pub, it was a blast the last time. Our last time there was BK (before kids) haha... Thank you for the comment and for watching the channel!! Matt
Good list, I agree with you on Tod, Wallace and Montague, haven't been to the other ones yet. I would add Winter Cove to the list that is always on our itinerary when we visit, usually the first stop since we can clear customs by phone over at Horton Bay. Love your videos, keep them coming, gets me excited for boating season!
Hi Kevin, Winter Cove is great spot. From Sidney it is a fair ways out there but a great spot indeed. Nice to here you enjoy the videos, thank you for the nice comments!!
PNW is all we know but we do really enjoy it. Even now on this evening of Apr 5th as a family anchored in Royal Cove, Portland Island all to ourselves; just gorgeous. But unlike Fiji, you do need some heat on this time of the year…
Annette is nice, it’s been years since we last anchored there and always liked it as an anchorage. Do you know if there is any public/park land in Annette inlet yet? It seem to remember it being private land surrounding the inlet. Thanks for watching and commenting! Matt

Cheers!!

This was an awesome video. We just got our first cruiser and Montague will be our first overnight! Thank you for sharing your adventures:)
Thanks!! Great to hear your getting into cruising, it’s a great lifestyle and a huge world to explore. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Thank you for the post. Informative and I like all those places but still have Russell on my wish list
Your welcome and thanks for watching!

it was awesome to meet you in Refuge Cove!!!
Hi Dave
Likewise! If you're ever over in the Victoria/Sidney area feel free to ping me. Cheers!
Heading to Desolation Sound in July. Thanks for sharing ⚓️
IMHO July is the best month. Hope you have a great trip, thanks for watching and for dropping a comment!

@@MVMakenaKai Great to hear! How far north? Desolation? Or further....?
Tent Island off Penelakut is a nice little anchorage, our fave so far is Hornby or Tenedos 😁

You guys are making us homesick!!! ;) Beauty vid!
It's working then!! haha.
We're just trying to keep up with those "Baja Blues" pics. Thanks!!
What magnificent waters! I live on the south coast of Australia, and there are very few anchorages such as you would recognise.

Love Wallace, but I think Mana Island in Fiji was nicer LOL.
The PNW is a world class destination, I can be objective and state that as fact.
