    That is true! Pins left off spot will be respotted to there original locations. I hadnt thought about that yet

  • @mpup54

    String pins are for small games like Quille and maybe duckpins, they should never be used for tenpin bowling. One of the problems they didnt encounter much is the pin respotting in a completely different spot. Sometimes the 7 pin leave will come back down as a 10 pin and vice versa. Packy had one pin move off spot and the machine changed the leave, which is somewhat similar. Tangled strings is often a thing, which sometimes requires a mechanic to go do down and resolve it. This cant happen with free falling pins. Also, the string will hamper a pin in flight some and from rolling on the deck, I think those are essential qualities taken away from the game.

      interesting experiences you've had there. Ive had strings in my centre for coming up to 5 years and not really had much of the issues you seem to have encountered. What i personally have noticed is there are definitely differences in the quality of string setters made by different companies.

      @relydenied 4 месяца назад

      usbc sanctioned machines do not have bugs like that, very rarely do the strings tangle to the point where someone has to go untangle them. the strings on sanctioned machines are long enough not to hamper a pin in flight. the machines in this video are not usbc sanctioned.

    This is the first time I saw string pins. I think they are fine as long as you think of it as a different sport. Like baseball vs softball. A lot of similarities, but significant differences.

    • @nickheisler2559
      @nickheisler2559 Год назад +1

      Agreed, my opinion of em is they are solid for practice and learning ball reaction, but shouldn't be used in tournaments unless it's explicitly stated that it's a string tournament. Sort of a special case almost like a "plastic ball challenge" tourney or something.

    • @U-Tubs808
      @U-Tubs808 3 месяца назад

      Real bowling to string pin bowling is more like baseball to wiffle ball. It's like bowling with toy pins. I agree with @nickheisler2559 in that it is alright for practice but it should also be a lot cheaper to use these pins versus regular pins.

    The ONLY reason I'd be for strings is if the price drops drastically, I'd be happy paying 1.50 a game over 5$

    String pins belong in boutique amusement places with no leagues. They do NOT belong in competitive league or tournament bowling.

    TBH I’m still indifferent on string cause I haven’t bowled officially on them with my equipment (not counting recreational places). So I can’t say much on them until I exp them. But I’m still on the side of not liking them cause I’m nervous on tournaments with them but centers have their reasons for switching cause it can help them with price or other reasons

    Personally, not a fan of string pin lanes. I do however understand the commercial reasons. For practice or for "fun centers" I think strings are fine, but for leauge, tournament play and professional bowling... let's hope strings don't become the norm.

      They have been around for ages, you see them used in some small ball bowling games of yesteryear, they were never meant for 10 pin bowling. Often times yo see this with Quille which is a rubber round middle of short duckpin sized pins on strings. I can tell you the pro tour will never be the same if string pins take over houses. Also, string pins can get tangled and that never happens with free pins.

    The fact that Packy wrapped a 7 and it still “carried” for a strike should tell all of you never bowl at string pin centers. If you want traditional bowling to survive do not give string pins any of your money 🤷🏻‍♂️

      For many people, that's not an option. We have one bowling center that recently converted to pin strings Other alleys with free fall pins are an hour to an hour and a half away. It's not feasible for everyone to travel that distance for rec or league play. "Traditional bowling" won't survive because we closed our only alley down in protest!
