    I recently bought the Az Mount Pro with the tri-pier like you have in this video. Pretty amazing mount. I am hoping to try EAA some day with it. Using its Wi-Fi with sky safari makes it even better. Thanks for the excellent videos.

    What is the mod that you did to the Twilight mount where the Vixen dove tail attaches? Is that something after market that is available? 6:00

      It's an aftermarket saddle. Sorry I'm not sure witch one it is as I bought the mount with it already installed.

    Hello Vlad, another great video, expertly and entertainingly presented. I was wondering what you think of the iOptron AZ Pro mount. I have only heard good things about it, but am wondering if you would recommend it for use with a 20lb refractor? Also, what happens when the battery goes bad? Is it replaceable?

      Not sure on the bettery(though I'm sure it's just a basic lithium ion) but yes the mouth would handle a 20lb refractor satisfactory. Thought that would be max payload for it for sure.

    Vlad what tripod do you have the G-11 mounted to in this video ?

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  Год назад +1

      That's just a standard 2" tripod that many mounts such as the AVX come with. Much lighter and quicker to setup then the Losmany HD tripod(though obviously not as stable).

    Nice video Vlad. I have that ioptron az pro on my list when I find one available. Hey unrelated but curious if you do any terrestrial viewing with any of your refractors since you have great views from your home? If so I’d be curious if any recommendations on scopes s and maybe some eyepieces that work well for that.

      I’ve wondered the same thing. I’ve ordered a refractor with an amici prism to correct the orientation of the view on all axis, for terrestrial viewing, but can’t give any feedback yet as it hasn’t arrived. Might be good for the moon too as loss of light is hardly a problem on lunar viewing.

      Well you figure that I should do some terrestrial right? During the day I do have 3 kids 6 and under to dad around so I rarely have the time to even think about it. We do have some bald eagles that live around here and I have shown them to the family. I always just grab my grab-and-go 5" Mak with Baader Zoom. Works very well!

    Thank you Vlad, that was very helpful, and I think a lot of folk will find it very interesting.
    The field rotation makes a lot of sense, but I hadn’t thought about it whilst choosing mounts, and now I will.
    I think I need both an Alt Az and a GEM now 😃😃👍👍
