    Great stuff, as always! I really appreciate your honesty and thoroughness explaining each accessory.
    I've got a 6SE that I'm building out to do basic EAA. Just got a 1.25 flip mirror accessory that really helps getting parafocal with my ZWOasi224mc. Dew shields, CHECK. DSLR attachment, check. 6.3 reducer, check. I also have an AVX mount for better astrophotography. It's perfect for the 8" class of sct. Very stable in moderate " breeze". I'm primarily a visual guy, but love to see your stuff on EAA and advanced EAA.
    And we all LOVE accessories!
    Thanks again for all you do for the hobby!

      Glad to help, thanks for the feedback! And yes overall if I was to build this setup I would much rather do it around a c6. Just better suited for the mount.

    I use furniture sliders for vibration pads because I forgot to pick up my suppression pads once so I just bought the ones for furniture. Hey they work on my son's Nexstar 127SLT Maksutov and my iOptron AZ Pro and vibration isn't an issue on cement with them. They work pretty good for stabilizing on grass and dirt too, but if on sand/muddy nothing works except to let your tripod feet bury themselves deep or carry a piece of plywood or three 1x4 boards about 16" long.
    Glad you pointed out that last part Vlad as my son's Nexstar 127SLT is the next size down from the SE and the 127mm Mak is at its maximum weight of 8 lbs. and I put a 2" diagonal on it and just that extra 1 to 2 lbs. or so was noticeable at a little higher power and the motor worked harder too, something to keep in mind. I had a chance to buy an 8SE, but the 8" OTA is also max weight and doesn't leave much room to grow like the 6SE has.

      Very cool, that the furniture sliders work.

    Thanks! I'm not wanting to commit to very expensive mount just yet.
    I have DSLR and older Skris images to try with my 6se. Wedge and 2way flip viewer are missing from my desired setup for now. Probably try working with SharpCap on my laptop to start.
    We have had many cloudy evenings in Maryland this year!

    The worst thing celestron did to the nexstar 1 arm bandits was including an autoguider port. It helped with sales and encouraged more sales of accessories like the wedge, photo adapters and autoguiders, but a cheap spur gear mount is not up to the task, even wjth smaller optical tubes.
    Tits on a bull basically
    Electronically capable, but mechanical capability is another story

    Accessories for my Celestron 6" Schmidt Cassegrain: Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi mount, Celestron Aluminum Dew Shield, x0.63 reducer/corrector, Starizona Hyperstar 6 v4, 50' power cord, 50' camera cord, SvBony 705c (asi 585) camera, SvBony 405cc (asi 294), Celestron SCT Dew Heater, shims for leveling tripod, SvBony Dual Narrow Band Filter, SvBony UHC filter, Sharp Cap pro, H.P. Desktop Computer, H.P. Laptop Computer.
    I have a Celestron CG-4 mount with a Astro Gadget motorized go to conversion kit, but I do not use it for this rig, as the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi mount can handle the weight. I did have a Celestron 6 SE mount, but gave it to a friend.

      Very cool setup, I still wish to try a hyperstar. Have not played around with one of those.

    You are the only one saying about the shaking and I 'm glad about it, cause I was thinking about buying the wedge but for you advise I will think about a new mount

      I'm thinking that way too. Invest 100s in a wedge or put it toward a new Eq mount? May try a fixed angle wedge of aluminum plates first ...

    Couple points. The Celestron reducer is really not the one to use. Starzonia makes a far, far superior reducer/field flattener. Next, The AVX is a mount I use to use and frankly a rigged out C8 is too much for it.
    To be honest, most of these options are NOT Must buy.

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  5 месяцев назад +4

      Have not used the Starzonia reducer but from my use there is nothing wrong with the Celestron unit with something like the entry level cameras that most people are using with a setup like this.
      Mount-wise, did you miss the point where I said that you can't spend enough on a mount??? Of course, the AVX is not ideal for a c8. But it's a mount that many can afford and is much better than the single Fork mount of the 6se/8se.

    Hey Vlad - so there we are, all pirated up with flip mirror and cooled ASI294. How do you stop the fan blowing in your eye when looking through the EP? 😂

      Lol, belove it or not in the winter the fan is a nuisance. COLD.

    Is the StarSense Auto Align worth it? Ever used it? I don't use my setup for photography and am looking for a quicker alignment device. Autoguider is overkill for me.

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  Месяц назад +1

      To me personally, it's not worth it. Doing a 3 star alignment is very quick and easy for me.
      Having said that if you dread doing the alignment the Starsence does do it automatically for you.
