Great mods. I too added ergon type grips and the Q rack. I find trolley mode much more stable with the four easy wheels. The mudguard wheel is redundant. I took it off and managed to fit the original reflector in its place . I've wrapped cable rub points with paracord.
I’ve been meaning to ditch the m/g wheel in favour of a light or reflector mount for sometime. It’s on my list I might upgrade the brake levers which on my model are the older type that flex a little nothing is urgent though and I always enjoy riding it. So much so I no longer own a traditional triangle framed bike anymore even the carbon ones don’t feel the same to me.
As a Rainy Dane I of course have mudguards on my Brompton, but I do prefer a Touring Bag in front on the carrier block (Standard on mine), and I haven't mounted a rack, though I have two versions from titanium! But it is a Brompton so I have two Brompton printed leather grips for riding, not something special! Finn😄Denmark
Hiya Finn and thanks so much for finding my little video and commenting. You are most welcome here. First let me say I am rather envious of your titanium Brompton’s - maybe one day! I too think the touring bag is excellent and I also have the borough bag along with a few others. I think maybe a video on luggage might be worth making. The leather grips sound soo nice. Hope you subscribe and stick around my friend. 👍
Nice job! At about the 47 second mark of your presentation, there appears a water bottle cage. And it appears to use velcro straps to secure the cage to the stem. If that is indeed the case, could you please provide the the name of the cage or how you came by it. Thanks very much!
Thanks very much! You were very observant, you did spot such a bottle cage. The one I use is the SKS Topcage which I’ve used on several bikes now and it’s still going strong. They retail in the UK for something like £9.99 and probably a similar number in US dollars. Here’s a link to where I got mine: www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/sks-topcage-bottle-cage Thanks for getting in contact.
Absolutely though I believe both the urban and explore versions are sold equipped with carrier block and mudguards so you would only need the grips and rack. Thanks very much for watching and commenting.
I’m pretty sure that there are as I’ve actually seen other bikes where they haven’t had to modify them. I could have repositioned the brake levers but as my hands are quite large I didn’t want to move them. Also there are a number of similar designs out there mainly from the Far East available via Amazon to look at. Some of them are excellent.
I have - I wouldn’t describe it as elegant as a cut - more butchered 😂. I have been meaning to have a go at making it neater or taping the ends but the main thing is that they work very well.
I got a second hand B75 Brompton without mudguards and rear rack. I am not familiar with Brompton's bikes, can I install a proper Brom's rear rack (with little wheels) or do I have to try a third-party's one?
Hi. Congratulations on your purchase I’m sure you’ll love it. I’ve had one of each in answer to your question, the Brompton one is very well made but quite expensive unless you can find one on eBay. My third party one was from Amazon, cheap lightweight and pretty effective. Either is good. 👍
If you watch this video of mine it shows my old bike B75 to which I added mudguards and a rear rack from Amazon. It might help. ruclips.net/video/egr5D4sFncM/видео.htmlsi=VuDdnHZXloMl78_l
I got mine from Brilliant Bikes here in the UK and I seem to think they only sell one front type with a choice for the rear one depending upon if you have a rear rack fitted or not. Hope that helps.
My first Brompton was a 3 speed B75 it was great but for the hills needed a smaller front chainring when carrying any weight. I think if you live in a flat area a 3 speed is fine, if not I’d look for a 6 - even a used one in good nick.
Super review. Is the bagman support that fits to the saddle made of metal? I like the idea of using it without the actual rod support, but wondering how much weight it can take. 5kg? This video is pretty good for more on the bagman: ruclips.net/video/PUz-pkMgDr0/видео.html
Thank you Richard, much appreciated. Yes the actual clamp is solidly built from metal and feels very robust. It has never needed adjustment since fitting it. I've tried various combinations of bags over the years for commuting, Audax rides etc (rucksack, courier bag, rack and pannier) and the Barley with this QR system is the best by far.It has the capacity of a standard pannier, doesn't mess up your bike's handling, is aguably more aerodynamic than rack bags and best of all, no sweaty back.As I show in the video it's easily large enough to do a weekend tour, and it's made in the UK. I'd be happy to carry 5kgs in it.

Great video. Amazing what you can get in the bag!!!
It is really I reckon I could’ve got a stove set in there as well. 😂 cheers Dan. 👍

Thank you for that prompt response. I will look into this, for sure.
Would these work on the new A Line series (which seems bassically the same?) Great vid!

Great video. Are there other ergon grips that would not need cutting short?

Strongly agree about the Ergon grips; have you had to cut them short?

@@stushikesandrides So it is possible to install the rack post purchase?
Yes it is, I’ve done it myself on my last Brompton a B75. Lots of ‘how to’ videos on here to walk you through it.

For the mud guards do we get the ones for P or C line to be installed in B75?

3 speed or 6 speed? Can’t make up my mind. Such a huge difference in price.

Great ideas, but please don’t film into the sun
Sorry about that. Thanks for watching though.
