imagine having an art class with him as the art teacher and every time he'd just be being brutally honest with you babies
I'd look forward to that tbh
@Lady Succulent 2
I feel like you can learn a lot more from him than a lot of other art teachers
That’s actually exactly how my art teacher is, I love her 😂
I feel like he'd be like Gordon Ramsey.
Except he would alternative between how Ramsey acts around adults and how he acts around children every few seconds.

Ethan why are you tricking young artists to paint with one eye closed? Obviously you have to paint with both eyes closed.
Truth
I draw with two closed eyes and the third open
Yeah that's why we should paint with our third eye.
be like:
owo? NO
Owu? NO
UWU? YES
i'm painting with my off hand, one eye closed, semi-naked, and my feet on the table. i think i'm on to something now.
"Your beard looks like an afro." Huh. So he IS reverse-Bob Ross.
I CANT UNSEE IT NOW IT DOES LOOK LIKE BOB ROSS'S HAIR IM LIVID
CONFIRMED
Chaotic Bob Ross
OH SHIT
Ashton Brand REVERSE BOB ROSS
This dark spot underneath the lightspot comes from sharpening the image in procreate :)
MC Paul IN THE HOUSE! MY MAN 🦅🔥
@@EthanBecker70 If you want to replicate that in photoshop you just merge the whole painting on a new layer and put a find edge filter on it than set the layer to multiply (mask out the parts where you don't need it)
Isn’t that a bit too much of destructive edit? Especially if you don’t make a copy of your work before sharpening it. A less destructive way is make a layer just for the highlight , duplicate that highlight layer, lock the opacity, change to a darker color, move it slight lower a smidge to create that contrast and that’s it.
MC Paul oh really?! I have to learn more about procreate man
@MC Paul I was going to write the same but firstly wanted to see if someone already did it. Also I just realised from this video that she uses the sharpening in the middle of the process also not just in the end.
2 posts in 2 days holy shit is this christmas
PegiBruno so there is a god?
No that was the other day before u late soon I am disappointed in u
Quanrantmas
PegiBruno that’s what I’m thinking

Ethan being sp00ped by the line under the highlights is the greatest thing ever
**gasp** ~spooky~
*DONT YOU EVER PAINT*

Omg wait a minute your art is incredible :0

He’s about to break into Bluessatan’s place just to learn that highlight trick.
my favourite half cigarette smoking bootiful disney princess eyed,machete-wielding, savage artist is back to make me realize that I don't even fail correctly
Ethan Becker in a nutshell
I think the artist you referenced around 5 minutes is Ahmad Beyrouthi - I love his work!
That’s the guy!
lol beat me to it
Allison Perry dammm u nailed it
I thought it was Sinix
Ethan is so pro that he paints on a tablet on top of a tablet. INCREDIBLE!!
i didnt noticed that lmao
Lmfao
Also regarding the highlight darkspot thing - I believe it's a result of sharpening the image, I use unsharp mask to get that same effect
how??
I find your wisdom genuinely intimidating. You have managed to intimidate me back into regularly practicing art.
I thank you, good terrifying sir
That is simply the power he holds
His eyes are so pretty WTF the shape and the colour like i can't stop looking lol
Ikr I can’t even listen to what he’s saying I’m just staring at his eyes
And his pinky checks
And he calls us babies, when he has the baby face 😂
@@eekeey he can be my daddy if he wants
tru tho😔👌
You didn’t call us babies today and I can’t learn this way 😔
too bad baby
At last I can finally paint faces now
lol
His reaction to the highlight shadow is me in every step of an art tutorial I watch. I can't follow along at all when I watch people shade and I get sooo confused with layering haha. 😂
Does anyone else think his “rhymes” would be the best senior quotes ever?
Caleb Bach “when in doubty one finger outy”
rinkle dont tinkle!
The intensity for the highlight was a battle I did not expect to witness when I clicked on this video
his energy his chaotic good
Bluesssatan: sharpens her highlights
Ethan: W i t c h c r a f t
6:25 *Ethan* I'm pretty sure she uses a 'Find Edges' filter over her highlights
I skipped online-classes to watch this video. He is more important than my school project.
But you can watch this video after your online classes
Abi Syaibah NO
Ikr same
Priorities
How did you know thats exactly what im doing
I'm all about Ethan's borderline conspiracy theory about that nose highlight
Bluesssatan does the dark underneath not by intentionally adding it, but by using the sharpen tool so it makes that odd outline where two different colors meet. Oversharpening seems to be one of her consistent tools, and it's also how she adds the texture.
Ooh was Ethan talking about Ahmad Beyrouthi?? He has a really cool almost 3D illustration style. He contributed to character designs in an online animation series called Emara that was a super fun watch~
He probably talking about Sinix
That’s the one!
Ahmad beyrouthi yesss !
I draw with my left hand with my right hand covering one eye. This method teaches me style, demystifies the art making process, and makes me a better knife and bowling ball juggler.
Me: Hey, have you seen my stylist?
Mom: No, but I did find this pen that wouldn't write so I trashed it.
Me: Was it black with a black nib?
Mom: Yeah
Me: 7:01
“H m, YEEEEEEAY”
BEST WAY TO START A VID
I've been blind out of my right eye since I was one, and I've been an drawing since I was like 3
I'VE BEEN DRAWING WITH ONE EYE SINCE BEFORE IT WAS COOL >:)
Ah I cant wait for another interesting tip from Et-
Ethan: 0:02
*do-*
*do i just-*
*_do i just break one lens of my glasses_*
EmiRoll - monocle
You could fill in one lens with a sharpie.
You're a fucking genius
Nvm I have glass in my eye
He does sarcasm and irony so naturally that I can't distinguish when he's talking serious
I genuinely don't know if he's saying is a bad technique or a good technique
Help, please
Ethan: painting is not how you get better at painting
bowling ball: *pikachu face*
Ever watched Bojack Horseman? That one line “it’s like that show Becker.” I will now forever think of this RUclipsr when he says that. And on new videos, when he criticizes Art, I’ll just generalize and say “so basically, it’s not Becker.”
I gotta say, as someone who just made her first ever painting after 3 years of doing figure studies and had it turn out okay, I think he might be on to something here.
you're like the art teacher i wished i had
Last time I was this early we where still carving on stones
"dont you ever paint with both eyes open!" *laughs in blind in one eye*
Im Procreate user 7:34 trick: U put the highlights then duplicate the highlights and then do 68% opacity and do a little move to the duplicate layer to the left or right like a shadow
didn't she just sharpen the image?
I feel like you, Baban, and Some Normal Artist are the best tutorial people out here. There's another guy, but I don't want to butcher his name. You know what's crazy. I produce beats, and beat producers almost never withhold techniques due to the length of the video. Everything is shared. Thanks man. You're an inspiration.
HIS REACTION TO THE DARK SPOTS IS HILARIOUS AF 😂
A little tool I love using is a little air brush for creating depth and then render over the top, another thing I use is warm colors for light and cool colors for Shadows it creates good contrast. I love making renders so fun but super time consuming. I can do portraits in 4 hours but if it's like full body and background think of more like 8-12+ also depends on the person. Some I have done are decent so yeah. It is pretty challenging.
Oh yeah I think the artist uses the sharpen tool to get dark shadow under highlight.
I'm new to your channel and it has already helped me so much! Thank you for the help!
Ethan is Literally the only art tutor you need . Don't you EVER learn from anyone else!
I take this tip one step closer and close both eyes while drawing
it's amazing how fast Wacom evolves the way to prounounce their company. first they were "wacom," but then the changed it up to "wack em," then "hwacc'm," "hoyc'm," and now finally "quakem." absolutely visionary!
This man is the definition of chaotic neutral
The amount of time dedicated to obsessing over the mysterious image sharpen effect had me cackling. Came for the learning stayed for the conspiracy theories
"Get your values right, and you can get away with almost any color!"
Marco Bucci made a couple videos about it. When he just put black and white filter on canvas and painted depending only on values.
You`re the best ma dude. I`m getting so inspired by your yt videos. Keep it going!!
“Your beard looks like an afro” *look to the side looking for when he asked for a beard review* 😂 jk
finally someone else noticed the highlight shadow thing on her videos, it was driving me crazy
THE HIGHLIGHT WAS BUGGING ME TOO OH MY GOOOD. Until I found a video of her actually going in and painting the dark on it. It’s not a brush setting, she does it by hand
About those highlights, and how you get them is adding the sharpness in the liquify feature on procreate atleast, alot of professional artists use this feature to add contrast, I just found out abt this recently too!
this is just from what i remember btw
How does Ethan even come up with those acronyms
long brain
I just want to say THANK YOU ETHAN! Your videos always make me laugh when I'm in a bad place mentally; along with giving me confidence to continue to learn and grow with my art. ♡♡♡
This has to relieve the people who can’t draw “the eye”

the last one "you're beard looks like an afro" hahahhaha
that aside I just discovered your video and channel I could say this is the first time actually interested in a youtuber related to drawing/art ( aside from twosetviolin)
hope to learn from you more. now back to practicing more.
btw you're like bob ross with a mean comments (but that's what most artists need nowadays) being able to accept harsh critiques with truth, that helps more than empty praises).
is the artist nurzhan bekkaliyev?
also, for the highlights, it looks like she's using a watercolor brush with the edge up.
cliché bonaparte this
Two videos in two days ......
SPOOKEHH
when they call us "baby" 🥺🥺🥺🥰
I always feel pumped after watching Ethan 😅
7:15 is me with every tutorial
After encountering Ethans channel, my whole artistic reality has been shifted in the best way possible
Another truth has been revealed! I've been saying this for my friends, that Painting mistakes are made in the drawing, specifically if they aren't pro that can paint the straight outta using shapes and silhouettes; without proper guidance of forms being made in drawing part.
Secret exposed, close the painting eye and open the third eye.
Man, I've been pulling my hair practicing painting the human face for a month and a half and this video simplified it in 11 minutes. You rock Ethan.
"your beard looks like an afro"
So you're like a reversed Bob Ross
I love bluessatan so much, her art is so gorgeous
what secret, there's no secrets.
pff secrets
With the highlight thing it looks like the sharpen/clarity tool set to max - I usually use that for photo editing. I saw her art before and that immediately stood out to me lol.
Next vid "NEVER DRAW WITH YOUR HANDS EVER"
That dude INSANE! THAT is pure art!
Every single damn time all I ever look at is that knife that’s giving me anxiety
,,honestly,, i'm loving your eyebrows, not in the drawing but your actual eyebrows!
Ethan I am blind in one eye I’m permanently doing this and my art still sucks. You lied to me
6:37 Sharpening Ethan, sharpening the image via layer or pencil. I didn’t find out , I watched a video from a girl that found out about it. It makes MIRACLES , I’m telling you.
he's slowly going mad...
Hey, I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I think awhile back I hated on one of your videos but it's because I didn't realize your sense of humor. You're actually an amazing artist and your style of teaching is engaging and fun. It's a little fast for me, but I was still able to learn.
Sorta binging your videos. The amount of time you catch little details In all sorts of things is nuts. In this scenario it's the shadow next to the highlight. Simply impressive.
The only thing I was not specting in this channel was golden Tips!
And BOOM! There you have it!
I love Blue Satan so much!!! This video feels like it was made for my little baby brain. You are literally the best teacher
ethan holds the biggest place in my heart
I'm a fan now . Never finish watching a drawing tutorial whatsoever. This is the first time cuz it fckn makes a lot sense
I love Ethan's channel as he is 1) very talented 2) very informative 3) Very entertaining 4) and last but not least, he doesn't use profanity
yesssss, the freaking dark spot under the hightlight of bluesatan work! I FELT THE SAME WAY EVERYTIME!
Hes always so goofy but he’s literally not lying once... the man really knows what he’s talking about following his steps really made me a better artist... like wow
The highlight bit made me chuckle
Trying to decipher Ethan's videos is a labor in and of itself
I'm kinda early yay and awesome video as always man!
On the subject of the importance of drawing the artist Stanley Spencer complained that he wasn't taught painting at the Slade School of Art, instead he spent three years learning draughtsmanship, and had to teach himself to paint on his own time, but I am pretty sure that's what gave him and his peers such a masterful understanding of the structure of the world.
Ethan is literally the PewDiePie of the art side of RUclips
I love it
Man the top right grill painting really made me want to git gud. Absolutely beautiful!
I love how some of these videos are kind of like clickbait but in a good way where you think its some person criticizing art with not a lot of art knowledge and it ends up being this masterpiece.
This man is tryna save us all, and im thanking him ; everytime i watch his videos, i learn something very useful
