Im not here to poop on the possibility that that happened and was an interesting experience. Ive no doubt it was. But i felt you should know the science behind this.
The faces we see in our dreams are composites of every face we have ever seen in our life. That alone is pretty OP of the brain to be able to do apparently.
Those faces in our dreams are real faces of real people that we have seen during our life but may not know or remember.
We don't fully see a face in the dream so we mostly fill out the details from memory. Or perhaps walking down the street one day in your town you saw that face.
This doesnt take away the fact that you dreamed them, and then one day met them. That probably still hit and was a vibe, but youd be fooling yourself if you convinced yourself it was something more mystical than that. This is what science has claimed anyways and has told us.
I know nothing for a fact even if science has claimed it does. Maybe in a few years there will be more interesting discoveries about the nature of dreaming.

He has always been this actor if you look at his early filmography, I think it's that most people saw him first in The Rock or Con Air, he was always this actor... see Vampires Kiss, Wild at Heart, and even Raiding Arizona.. he is truly more of a character actor who got filed into leading actor... and rightfully so, only problem is he really becomes the character he is playing.. great for a character actor, leading high profile actors are themselves playing a role... but hey maybe Nic is this slightly off centered person. And we tried to stuff him into "normal roles" and now he is finally getting to play a little more, who he really is! Either way enjoy the ride.

This is actually based on a known phenomenon you can read about (tons of articles, even sites devoted to it) where countless people have seen the same man in their dreams over the years who always seems to be just observing. There's actually a sketch of the "man" people keep seeing, based on testimonies from the people who see him (which, oddly enough, looks like what they did with Cage's "look" in the film). It's likely just some psychological composite "man" that many people form in their heads that *seems* like the same person - but for a screenwriter to turn that into a story about an actual man being recognized as that person and his reaction to it, is a GREAT idea. I wish I'd thought of it. lol

He is an underrated actor that has put in the ground work doing all types of movies despite the criticism of good or bad. He is the epitome of what happens when you just do you. It’s his perceive awkward nuances that over the years people have learnt to love. Rejecting the conventional Hollywood tropes and reaching deep into the parts of himself others dare not. I remember hearing that was going to be an adaptation of a very similar creepy pasta to this and I believe this is that project and I’m very happy to see it isn’t just some generic horror film but a smaller independent studio projects with clearly a lot of creativity put into it

yes! it's based off the creepypasta called "(Ever Dream) This Man" but they told it in the comedic-fantasy way.

Yes! I remember seeing that poster “have you ever dreamed of This Man?”, with the sketch of the guy that kind of resembles Mr Bean. it was originally made as an advertisement for an independent movie they wrre supposed to make, but it never came out. I guess it fell into a24’s hands

Nicolas Cage has always been an icon. Action movies when I was a kid and later it was Wild At Heart and Red Rock West. Pig was genuinely the most moving film I’ve seen in years and I highly recommend watching it if you haven’t seen it already. The Color Out Of Space is also good but if you want the more zany, b-movie Nic Cage.

My theory for the references to Zebras is the fact that nic cage’s character is suppose to be extremely unremarkable, but the fact he pops into people’s dreams makes him extraordinary. Just like how if you take away a zebras stripes it’s just a normal horse. But why does a zebra have its stripes? It doesn’t make it blend into its environment. It doesn’t make it attract more mates. And it doesn’t really tell that much about how the zebra is. So why does he pop into people’s dreams?

could you basic people simp harder? A24 does nothing but green light projects. credits still go to writers, actors, and directors... saying A24 is amazing is like a weak attempt to sound like you know what quality movies are. and news flash... they have green lit a lot of trash also! and there have ALWAYS been original films around not from them. It is only your own fault if you do not know how to see them other than mainstream jumping on A24s lap

Watched it last night, was so hyped for it, thought what a great imaginative new idea, trailer makes it look like a fun movie, the creators could have done so much with it and made it really fun but instead it's quite a dark film, not very happy and just gets weird and stupid the closer to the end you get, was totally disappointed tbh

Same. I went to a screening with my brother and after the movie ended we agree that it is not what the trailer makes it look like to be. It doesn't even explain what was the motive behind Nicholas Cage character appearing on the dreams of people, i mean, sometimes i believe its better to not explain everything in cinema but the ending of the movie felt so anticlimatic that it just left a sour feeling overall.
