    Awesome video.Corrected my illusions about need for elbows to press together at address (that we were taught for many a year) and the need for separation of hips from torso. Separation is between arm movement & hip movement to prepare for the sling shot effect/strike.

    Great job on a challenging concept with the pressure shifts Milo. If there ever was a master fundamental this is it. So many good things happen in response to it. Things that people try and make actions that are actually reactions.
    And that dumb Hogan book drawing with the elbows down was such a disaster to so many golfers. He had the loosest elbows I've ever seen often actually flexing his arms during waggle Lol!
    Have you ever noticed G. Player did that dumb elbow down thing sometimes? Right from Hogan's book. Looked horrible. But Player would have gotten the ball in the hole with one arm missing I think.
    Teaching this is so hard if it's not been developed in other sports previously in a student. I found playing catch with people sometimes helped.

      I do have a ? While recentering do you keep the weight on the back foot till the forward swing starts.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  3 года назад

      @@richardcarr9447 pressure flows from foot to foot. It starts left then moves right and the club starts back then the pressure circles back left before the downswing begins

    Mr. Milo Lines.
    You're definitely correct.
    At address, Mr. Ben Hogan's left arms are relaxed.(Elbows-Down or Elbows-Low)
    Ben Hogan Hands-Up and Elbows-Down
    Bryson Dechambeau Hands-Up and Elbows-UP (right elbow is slightly lower)
    Tony Finau Hands-Down and Elbows-Down

    Brace right, load left.
    That was the genius in Hogan's swing. At the top, he was already on his lead side, (braced back) and this allowed his head AND EYES, to be steady into impact.
    As you said in previous video, the lead hip resquares off the deep trail hip.
    As the backswing finishes, do you feel the weight of the clubhead setting the hands?
    Good stuff as always.

    Milo, as someone who has been told all my golfing life to load into that right heel to the top, this kind of blows my mind. So let me get this straight in my head. There is a pressure shift to the right to start the swing, but about hip high, the body starts to recenter itself. As this is happening, before I even finish the backswing, my body is starting to unwind. Am I correct with this assessment? Also, I notice your head is centered beautifully in your backswing. Is some of that the cause and effect of recentering in the backswing?( would love to see a future video on head movement and staying centered as most amateurs, myself included, seem to have a problem with swaying.)
    Anyways, this video is an eye opener for me. Your videos are succinct, informative, and very helpful. Good work.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  2 года назад

      As you are just finishing the wind up in the backswing, ideally the fall to the left begins with the lower body and core which begins the unwinding of the chain in the downswing. We are going to do a video on the head very soon, thanks for watching!

    Is there a drill you can recommend for the transition feel Milo? Struggling to replicate it and finding myself getting all out of sequence.

    • @scottharmon5583
      @scottharmon5583 3 года назад

      Well I’m not Milo, but I find this tricky, too. Maybe the step drill? Lots of variations, but I like to start the step back towards the target with the lead foot about the middle of the backswing.

    Flinging a Frisbee,(you would always fling it further with your lead arm even tho its your left,)is a good drill .Even imagining flinging it! is good, probably be even better if it was heavier, maybe a dinner plate!

    This is the explanation of the most basic essential move. in the golf swing. Which is getting the mass of THE body onto the left (forward) foot BEFORE. the downswing STARTS. WITHOUT this concept, everything else is just window dressing.

  • @slewofdamascus
    @slewofdamascus 3 года назад

    In spite of all those "shifts" or "movements" in the backswing, watch the line on Milo's front hip when he takes a full slow motion swing, as seen on a video from 10/25/20, it never goes past that line, at all, throughout the entire swing, and eventually circles back away from it slightly in the follow through. Those hips open like a door. There's no sliding. Imo, this is the key to his whole swing, besides the general athleticism required to have his club move in one direction (back, still loading) while his body is moving in the other direction (uncoiling) creating that slingshot effect for max distance. Even though most of us will never be able to achieve his speeds, that doesn't mean we can't mimic his ball-striking ability, to one degree or another. Don 't slide, let those hips open like a door, watch the 10/25 video.

  • @mattbickham5635

    A good key for me is the back swing should be completed at the same instant you’re pressure shift is completed into your lead leg. A good “feel” for me is in throwing the club up and over/behind me in the backswing, and that I’m catching it at the top of the back swing, with the pressure shift behind me “cushioning” the catch of the club. I almost liken this to a power or hang clean with the club over my trail arm/shoulder.

    Love this video. Maybe some insight on how to use a drill for training, but not Carry it into the real swing. I think I have been killing timing and athleticism trying to be too deliberate.

    In the transition, does the shallowing of the shaft happen naturally when you feel that tug in the transition and you're on plane or do you actively use your wrists to shallow it out to get in the "slot"? Is it a combination of both or either is fine and it's a matter of what works for you? Thanks

    Always good content....but just for the sake of argument...
    your comments on Hogan's elbows, and where you wish them to be....
    On your video, at the 4:02 mark, note your elbow position. Arms are close together , pit of right elbow is up.
    It seems to me that elbows down keep the arms from fighting each other, blocking.
    And, keeping on plane seems easier...
    your comments please

    Milo. Been working on the upper and lower body squat, flexion hips back to square move you did with Eric Cogormo. I have trouble with the club getting steep in transition. MMs tip out move which i tried made me really really steep with shaft coming down on a path above my right shoulder. I was steep already it just made it worse. I filmed my swing hitting balls and my hands and arms are going out as i squat and turn hips back to square. What am i missing. Im trying not to pull the club in transition. At top my arms are nuetral neither flat nor high , dissect my right shoulder. Are you still advocating shallowing the arms as a movement or just a reaction to squating and flexion of kness and upper body. In a nutshell my arms are following my pivot just like they would if i was standing straight up with the club out in front of me. Id be holding it in place which is perhaps what im.doing in golf swing. I hope you see what im trying to fix. Shallow club while body unwinds in transition. Not the new question you were looking for. So re faster club head speed. Im working with speedsticks. Could you post something on generating speed using your method. MM did one recently re speed and the MM method. Excuse the long winded comment. Cheers Milo. Good luck. Adam.

    I had a coach making me take the club back where he liked it, then stop and hold it, and then go. Trying to hit a solid shot was impossible because I had all this pressure on my back foot and he's holding an alignment stick against my ear and making me stay back. My swing became terrible because of his lessons. So, my advice is avoid any coach that doesnt have you hitting the ball better within half an hour.
