these videos are so disappointing, instead of learning about the boats specs and engines we get ten minutes of corny music and the same scenes over and over
offcourse it's difficult for mercedes to say they put 2 merc(ury) racing 1350's in an MTI chassis and the boat actually doesn't have anything to do with mercedes
Mercury Marine is owned by Brunswick Corp,not GM they convert motors from several manufactures into marine propulsion,they do build some outboards and all of their sterndrives in house.their racing division manufactures 1100 &1350 hp motors of their own design in house,the only thing GM is the bell housing pattern
MTI is the manufacture of the Hull and the engines that they are using, it stands for Marine Technology inc. Sorry to say but the only thing about this that's a Merc is the logo and paint job...
I can't believe that there were no comments on this clip!! That is sure one sweet ride. 193 mph on mild chop, nice. I bet it'd go another 5 faster on glassy water.. Monochromatic paint turned out very well. Need some info on powerplants, etc...
@BuzzDyou No it wouldn't. Glass water is sticky, holding the boat down instead of freeing it up to run. Engines are 1550hp Sterlings hooked up to Merc 6 drives.

No, it's not Mercedez powered, it was twin 1550hp Chevy Based engines built by Sterling. And why on earth would Gino need to lie about the speed of this boat. Trust me, it ran every bit of 193 and there are faster boats out there. A whole truckload of douche in some of these comments.
@sirop86 Race gas, horsepower and torque, pal, that's what it takes in a piston engine. Personally I would rather have turbines running those speeds. It's too easy to blow a piston motor at 7500-8000rpms it takes to run 200 and they're not cheap to replace.
GM doesn't own the same Mercury that Ford owns, as in like, Mercury Cougars and whatnot. Gm does own Mercury Marine. Mercury Racing is a division of that company. And you're right about the 1350 and 1100 twin turbos, and SCi motors not being Chevy motors. But they are GM motors.

@504stunta Thats impossible since the 1350's come with the M8 drive which is a step above the 6 due to the #6 not being able to handle the top end power output of the 1350. I went to Havasu this year and spoke with Fred Kiekhaefer for about a half hour on the subject of their higher end packages including the 1350, 1100 and their S/C offerings like the 1075 and such. In testing the 1350 package with #6 drives, they lasted no longer then the test itself before various breakage issues occured.
If you knew one of the men involved with this, you would be fast to retract your statement. No matter how much knowledge you have brother there are always people out there in the world, that have a much broader and bigger knowledge base. Perhaps, they have secrets that they don't want to divulge to other people, since powerboat racing is so compettitive. They have the finest mechanics around, that have the most knowledge. Deep pockets can get you The Best of The Best, giving you an edge and advantage, over other people that are in the sport.
Pretty cool...but why haven't we seen a single pass above say 90 in the video? That machine wasn't doing anywhere near 190 in any of the shots we saw.... WTF?

Who wants to see a boat going 190+ with a high speed chase camera? It would be much more dramatic to have the chopper simply hover at a high altitude and film the boat running at top speed...you know...to show the boat covering major "ground" in a hurry?

Can a Robison chopper run 190mph ? I dont think so. How they made the views from the chopper by 190mph..... There are not many choppers on that planet who are able to run 190mph.

MTI did some work on the interior and the dashboard and gear levers to make it look more like the car.
Mercury Marine did build the LS1 that came in the vette.

I use one of these for water skiing.
How is it possible to reach such speeds with a 4-stroke engine? Other boats i have seen uses turbine engine to upptain speeds in the 200mph range.

SquillyMon I know in 80's or 90's Lamborghini put some V12's in a Catamaran and it sounded pretty wicked. That you can find on youtube for sure.
