I agree. there are a lot of good videos but this is my favorite. I really like the fact that you take a moment at each step and lay it all down on the table and show where we are.
Thank you so much for a calm straight forward explanation! I braided 4 eye splices into polypropylene tow rope and they worked perfectly. I got better and faster as I repeated your instructions. I also really like the Selma find set!
Great video, I had trouble getting the core back through the neck area and out the outer sleeve, so I tapered the inner core and came out closer to the neck and it worked great.
Excellent video. A couple more tips. I wear sailing gloves when splicing as I’m a bit lean and can get friction burns when milking the rope. And I use a rubber hammer to soften the junctions as I work. Not so much for this simple splice. But can help when everything gets tight.
interesting video, thanks for sharing. i have been struggling with making my new dock lines. trying to follow a different method but its a bit different and doesnt allow me to get the fid through. The fid gets stuck near the end. Looking forward to trying this method.
Wow- I got to say this kind of blew my mind! I can’t believe how that worked out and … who was the first person on the planet to figure this out!? 😂By the way, Fanny’s your aunt! Cheers mate! 🇬🇧
My Googy search produced no results, sorry. I have no idea who came up with the idea for this splicing stuff, but I'm absolutely grateful they did. Thanks again Ada! Say hello to your aunt for me. Cheers!
Perfect explained, thanks for this. Splicing is never getting old.

Of all the splicing RUclipss, this is by far the best. Hands down.
Still a good video
We really appreciate your positive comments on the video. It’s great to hear it is so useful!! Cheers.

Your demonstration and explanation on this splice is the most practical I could find on RUclips. Thank You
Glad it was helpful!

Brilliantly instructed.

Excellent video. Best one I’ve watched for making my own line. Bonus points for adding cat footage!
Thanks a bunch for your comment, glad it helped!
Well done, Gee! Easy to follow instructions!
Thanks Becky! Great to hear from you, cheers!
So it is more practical to moor the sailboat. Thanks for the tutorial sir.
Glad the tutorial was helpful. Yes, we use these when tying to a dock or mooring ball.
And…..love your cat 🐈
