I'm glad I could help! I get a kick out of showing people how easy some of these things can be, so that we can keep our games looking fresh and clean for years!
Personally, I waaay prefer something like a plastic spudger instead of that metal peeler. Amazon has a great little 20 piece kit called "Kaisi Professional Electronics Opening Pry Tool Repair Kit." It's generic Chinese crap, but it's cheap, useful and gentle. I don't trust myself with metal against plastic. Just curious, why heptane? Trial and error? Can't find any info on how gentle it is for optical discs. Used alcohol to get rid of some sticky residue from a library sticker I removed and it took some of the ink off the top of the disc....
Thats ok too! You'll see why I use the metal scrapers after a bit. Heptane is used on document restoration to remove low level adhesives, used the same way in video games. Perfectly find on optical discs as its a solvent (its akin to iso). But it dries faster than ISO so you don't have to worry about ink removals.
@@RestoreAndReplay Good to know! Thank you! Love your videos btw. I've fixed many skipping CD's because of your polishing technique with Novus 2. Saved a ton on scratched up CD's because of you!
I knew which kind of sticker you were hoping for. I too was hoping for one of those. I once tried to remove one from a copy of Klonoa. It did not go well
Yuuuuuuup. Oh those full disc stickers......A full disc sticker removal is possible! But it can quickly turn ugly. We're still tackling with a safe method to remove them without damaging the disc. But we're making progress! Just did a Little Mermaid 2 recently! A link to the image is below! instagram.com/p/CnNdG1TOcto
I recently acquired a PS1 disc with the full Hollywood Video Label and it's 10x worse than the full disc blockbuster disc sticker I successfully removed on another game a few weeks ago. Any advice on the strong adhesive Hollywood sticker would be great.
I have a few Hollywood video label games (like why did they have to cover the entire dang disc), I'll make a video, but start off with low heat to soften the label, and work around the outside edge to find where you can peel up a little bit of the sticker. They never ever got them on perfectly straight, so there is always one little edge sticking out.
I mean I get it! I've known tons and tons of stores to use them. But it takes a fair bit of skill and I don't think I'd have stable enough hands to do it!
I actually have one of the blockbuster disc shield with the blue blockbuster logo on an old original silent hill. How would you go about doing so?
I've just about collected enough blockbuster stickered discs to make a video!!!
Hey man I love your videos and you've inspired me to take better care of the games I own.

@@RestoreAndReplay Oh man, that looks excellent! Can't wait to see a video on the process, that'd be sick
