  • The Improving the Phytosanitary, Food Safety & Market Access Opportunities along the Hot Pepper Value Chain project conducted a Hot Pepper Quarantine Pest Identification Training and field simulation exercise targeting agriculture stakeholders in Jamaica. The simulation was conducted for the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) which is not currently present in Jamaica but gaining global attention due to its rapid spread.
    The exercise was conducted on a scotch bonnet pepper farm with participants from government agencies with phytosanitary responsibilities and extension delivery services within the farming community such as the Plant Quarantine/ Produce Inspection Branch (PQPI), the Research and Development Division, the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) and the Agro- Investment Corporation (Agro Invest) as well as local agro-input suppliers.
    This video, outlines the steps farmers should take, in the event the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus is identified on a hot pepper farm.
